- This article is about the legendary shield in Borderlands 3. For other uses, see Ward.
Ward is a legendary shield in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Hyperion.
It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source but has an increased chance to drop from The Graveward located in The Floating Tomb on Eden-6.
Special Weapon Effects
Free me master, see me shiver. – Increased melee damage and +25% weapon damage when depleted. +2% max health per second when the shield is active; this effect doubles when the shield is depleted. Increased recharge delay.
Usage & Description
The Ward can grant the largest roid damage of any shield in Borderlands 3 given the right parts, along with granting extra damage and granting higher weapon damage. If the Ward spawns with 300% bonus roid damage, it is the best roid shield in the game in practically every category, making it an amazing shield for melee builds.
Notes
- Level 1 Wards are often considered superior to variants of any other level, as the passives don't change and the reduced capacity means that the shield will be depleted more often.
- For a few weeks after the release of Borderlands 3, the Ward was guaranteed to drop with the Brawler prefix due to always having parts that gave it a double roid bonus. As a result, it always offered +300% melee damage while shields were depleted. This appears to have been changed without being noted in the hotfix on September 27, 2019.
Trivia
- The flavor text is a reference to the song "Aquarium" by Haken.
