I've added the dlc head for maya from the wattle gobbler. I couldn't find any borders to change the grid.. Now it's all not nice looking. At the dlc section (nr 4 in table of content). Mind fixing it?

Zerot Zallander (talk) 13:49, September 17, 2014 (UTC)

The same happened when I added the head skin for Salvador/Skins. Also at number 4.

Re; skill templates

Yo, sorry about that. I had forgotten there would be changes with the templates. I realized that the game is gonna be coming out here in a few weeks and that I had been the one to make all of the characters pages/skill pages/categories for BL2, so I thought i might as well start for the PS.

Athena was more of a test run to see where everything needed to be and whatever was updated I could just copy the template from her page and use on the others. (I seriously just copied Kriegs template and changed the links to the appropriate page)

But anywho, thanks for the reminder. I apologize for getting ahead on that, I actually had some free time today to attempt to help out here again. But I'll still be around every now and then, I WILL try to be on top of the new changes I just haven't been on here as much lately and it slipped my mind. Re: Categories

Apologies regarding the use of now defunct categories. I've been away for a while and wasn't aware that a significant change had been made to categories as well as infoboxes. Is there a post/page somewhere detailing all the changes so I can know which categories to use in future? As an extension on that, what's happening to all the materials currently found in the now defunct categories? If there is a plan in place regarding their movement, I could help (most of the work I do on the wiki is categorizing due to time constraints now). If there isn't a plan in place, should I leave the images normally falling into these categories as uncategorized for the time being?

Again, apologies. Until I receive confirmation regarding this, I will leave uncategorized images that I would normally categorize as Screenshots without categories. Unless a massive overhaul has occurred, the other categories I make use of regularly should still be valid (Images of weapons, Skins, Images of enemies).

Thank you for all time and efforts put towards this.

The Delightful Doomsayer Fire Water Balance cropped Balance in Destruction 21:17, September 23, 2014 (UTC)

I haven't drafted any kind of rule set, but in general terms:

  • Category:Images is the root category, and preferably most images will just be categorised into a subcategory of that.
  • Images should have an appropriate license template.
  • If an image looks like it has been harvested from somewhere (eg. unlicensed .jpg with tumblr or facebook file name), it will probably need to be deleted, so just leave it.
  • If an image is unused, and fails in category, license etc. just leave it. You might find some that are so obviously bad as to be unusable - feel free to delete-tag it.
  • If you're not sure leave it.
-- WarBlade (talk) 21:27, September 23, 2014 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. I'll leave the questionable images alone or delete tag them if they are unusable. I do have a couple questions. First off, is the latest image policy update found in the Watercooler still valid, or will any parts of this likely be changing? This policy only has a major effect on images of weapons. Secondly, should licenses be added to images that are lacking them, or is this viewed as a responsibility of the uploader? (I guess categorising is also a responsibility of the uploader, not that it makes a large difference to some uploaders) I'm only asking in relation to cases where the license template to apply would be fairly obvious, I don't want to extend the lifespan of any images we don't want or need. I'm assuming that the note about license templates relates to ALL images appearing on the wiki, and not only the uncategorized/newly uploaded images that I am normally dealing with.

I'm also curious regarding unlicensed images appearing on a userpage. I'm not looking to deal with that one myself, just wondering so I know about adding images to my own userpages.

Not meaning to be a pest, just hoping to get back into controlling the pix w/o cats like I did a while back. Thanks for helping me get the information I need for this.

The Delightful Doomsayer Fire Water Balance cropped Balance in Destruction 21:58, September 23, 2014 (UTC)

I see no reason to add anything further to that image policy discussion. The participants have come to some level of agreement, and that's great. Licenses should be the responsibility of the uploader, but yeah if it's obvious, and the image is sorely needed, then add the appropriate license. For images in your own user page the license will probably be self, or fairuse. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:44, September 24, 2014 (UTC)

Mission Reward Item Categorization

I noticed the mission reward item category in the wanted categories list and just noticed the discussion between Robot and yourself regarding it on your talk page (Robot linked it to me on my talk page a long time ago). Was anything ever decided regarding this? The infobox works, so the category page could be created and then have more reward items added to it. This I could work on myself on an ongoing basis.

If it was decided that the category wouldn't be used for any reason, then I could just go remove the infobox sections that are causing it (there's only three, iirc).

Either way, thank you for all consideration and time put into answering.

As a side note, congratulations on Wikia Star. You most definitely deserve it. The Delightful Doomsayer Fire Water Balance cropped Balance in Destruction 00:27, September 25, 2014 (UTC)

I'm in two minds about that field. Robot wanted it, and I thought it was reasonable so I added it. Then he didn't do anything with it. If he wants to develop it, it should stay. If not, it might as well be removed. -- WarBlade (talk) 01:08, September 25, 2014 (UTC)

(Continuation from Robot's talk page)

Does this apply to ALL possible mission rewards as of now, or only weapons? For example, the Love Thumper is a mission reward, and a shield. I'm asking mainly because the specific template that was listed is for weapons.
The Delightful Doomsayer Fire Water Balance cropped Balance in Destruction 02:50, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
I haven't rigged that up on the shield template yet. -- WarBlade (talk) 02:57, September 26, 2014 (UTC)
...And now I have. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:30, September 26, 2014 (UTC)

Front Page templates

'ello warblade,

Would it be a wise decision to merge template:contents to a template with all of the information for the first game? And should there be a separate template for the community portal as well? Razldazlchick 16:46, September 26, 2014 (UTC)

To be honest, I think we need a complete rebuild of all those templates. With a third game now in the mix we have multiple templates repeating links, and therefore just taking up unnecessary space. Add to that the psycho background image used for the first game has become less relevant and is now used for Borderlands 2 skills navigation templates. Those things have been on my we-need-to-fix-this radar for a long time, but I've never even got as far as making a plan. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:45, September 26, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for touching up Class Mod (Borderlands 2)

Removed quote on Gaige page

I noticed you removed a quote from Gaige which I added. You gave the reason that this is covered on the Echo page, but the fact is that it is actually not the same quote. The text is different and can only be heard by being idle. It is very similar to the Echo recording I agree, but it's not the same. So it should be listed.
--AeonsLegend (contact me) 19:02, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

Actually, the quote sections are a frequent problem, and something that we've discussed here but never resolved. Quite a few of us want to scale the quotations way back, although we've never reached a clear consensus on how to best tackle the problem. For the moment we've got most of the quotes down to single-sentence lines, so Gaige's monologue not in keeping with the need to constrain the quote content. -- WarBlade (talk) 19:09, October 8, 2014 (UTC)
I understand, but it's kind of silly to have a quotes section, but not allow all quotes to be listed or try to tone them down. You either list them all, because wiki's are supposed to be complete, or not at all. If you really want to get rid of the quotes you could replace them with a video that has them all. It's not the same though, especially if you're looking up what is actually being said. For instance the phrase "Klaatu Barada Nikto" can come across as complete gibberish which would prompt people to look it up. If you don't have it written out people will still not know how to get more information on it. For me a wiki can never have too much information. If it's page cluttering you're worried about there's a multitude of options to format the page so it's more readable like having expanding tables. Just throwing some ideas around. :) --AeonsLegend (contact me) 19:20, October 8, 2014 (UTC)
Agreed. The problem of format and bloating is separate from the information. At this point I believe that Warblade can reinvent the format (without a community vote) for the purpose of administrative page structure. Final signature 01:14, October 11, 2014 (UTC)
Not really. I'd want community input for something like this. The problem has been noted as a problem by a number of people, and that's about the only clear consensus on the subject. There hasn't been any strong support of a solution, of which the the ideas ventured so far have been:
  • Scrap the quotes and just have a single character-defining quote.
  • Scale the quotes back to a few pertinent ones (someone tried without discussion and others just piled the removed quotes back in).
  • Move quotes to a subpage.
  • A few others like using big lists of sound files, or even less practical ideas.
Maybe the Pre-Sequel is the point where we need to go over it properly, thanks to these targeted character dialogues... -- WarBlade (talk) 01:50, October 11, 2014 (UTC)
I meant because it has been brought up multiple times but never really resolved makes it more of an administrative page format thing. Meaning that if an administrator feels that the page suffers and a subpage is needed, then the known problem can become an administrative answer. Although your preference for input is noted. Final signature 01:13, October 12, 2014 (UTC)

Quotes on (Playable) Character Pages

I was browsing the pages for each playable character in BL2 and was thinking - would it be a good idea to move the quotes for each playable class to a subpage instead of lumping them into the pain page? Take Krieg's page for instance: his quotes take up a good ~70% of the height of the page - not the best for someone looking for gameplay or basic backstory IMO.

Unrelated to the above: I've been doing transcripts of stuff lately; my stuff's on new pages so just search for those. Are there things that I should be avoiding transcripting, or is everything fair game? And for shorter missions, is it better to put the transcript on the main mission page or to make a subpage anyway? HybridDragoness (talk) 08:01, October 13, 2014 (UTC)

Regarding moving quotes to sub pages, you'll notice this same subject arose on the next topic up my Talk page. Yes, it would be a good idea, but at the same time it's also part of a much larger issue. If you want to advocate moving the quotes to a sub page, I suggest creating a blog for it so we can gauge community opinion.
Regarding mission transcripts, I'm a bit reluctant to see any single-sentence mission briefings being the reason for a new sub page. It looks as though we're of a like mind on that. I think for the moment use your judgement on whether a sub page is necessary (eg. multi-character dialogues) and make them only if they are. With a whole new game coming out this week it's probably a good time to revisit the wiki-wide policy (or lack thereof) on this subject soon. -- WarBlade (talk) 08:48, October 13, 2014 (UTC)
Got it, I've made a blog post here . HybridDragoness (talk) 08:36, October 14, 2014 (UTC)
Huh, for some reason it's not showing up on the Blog Posts page so no-one knows I've made the post. EDIT: Sorry for all the spam in your notifications, but I've fixed it so people can actually comment on it. If you feel it's necessary, can you advertise it on your main page or something like that? HybridDragoness (talk) 22:02, October 14, 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for the spam (AGAIN) but since no-one replied except for people I specifically bugged to reply in the wiki chat, is it okay if I create a draft on policy/criteria on quotes and transcripts and run it by you and a few other admins? HybridDragoness (talk) 14:15, October 16, 2014 (UTC)

Why did you delete the Cat O' Nine Tails page?

R goff98 (talk) 21:15, October 15, 2014 (UTC)r_goff98

Because it's a laser weapon, and I have specifically requested that people refrain from making laser weapon articles until we get the infobox template ready for them. Please direct energy instead into: enemies, NPCs, locations, skills, and missions. Thanks. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:18, October 15, 2014 (UTC)
Well when the template comes out I will transfer the information. R goff98 (talk) 21:50, October 15, 2014 (UTC)r_goff98
How do you add images to the infobox2 weapon template? R goff98 (talk) 21:53, October 15, 2014 (UTC)
Okay I'll put my efforts elsewhere, but I'm going to remake the Cat O' Nine Tails page just to have it ready for others. I will not use any template until the laser one is made. I will just have a picture of it. R goff98 (talk) 02:46, October 17, 2014 (UTC) R_goff98
No, please don't recreate that yet again. -- WarBlade (talk) 02:49, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Forum Posting

The only reason I'm responding here to your posting on my forum article,_it_seems_no_one_is_playing_Borderlands_the_Pre-Sequel...?t=20141017023923 is because I don't want that posting to effect my standing with Wikia. You closed it because of "trolling". Well if you look at my contributions to other Wikia sites like Dragon Age, Skyrim, ES4 Oblivion and Destiny(I think I've corrected some mistakes on this site too) then you'll see I don't "TROLL". I was just bringing that up for discussion, not trying to "start" anything. My last game was Destiny which Wikia had ALOT of info for, even on the day of release. So I guess that's what I was comparing it to.

You're a moderator and I respect that and thank you for the contributions you've made for any games...and understand the response. But once again, the only reason I'm responding at all is because I don't want that post to effect my Wikia reputation at all. Thanks. Djdelirius (talk) 03:17, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Skill icons

Is someone working on icons for the skill trees? eg: ect

If not what is the best way to get the icon images from my computer onto the page?

TrigrH (talk) 04:04, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Not yet. We have higher priorities at the moment. -- WarBlade (talk) 22:01, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Oz Kits

I have to agree, actually. It does take up the slot where relics were, and it doesn't seem like any info would need to be added to that Infobox. My bad, you're absolutely right! InfinitysCross (talk) 04:05, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Your assumptions seem to be correct on both fronts, yes. All I've got so far are:

Hyperventilator Oz Kit (Explosive)

Acidic Duality Oz Kit (Corrosive)

Support Relay (Explosive)

Now its just a matter of finding out what each prefix means. Some are obvious, like Acidic or Meteoric, but not so sure about Duality. My Duality has two effects, one for being in a vacuum and one for being in an atmosphere. I'd assume that's what makes it special? Can't currently confirm as that's the only one I have. InfinitysCross (talk) 18:01, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

i have found a few, all of them had an effect for in atmosphere and in vacuum, that seemed to be for boosting weapons, mostly.
also, i dont know how to edit pages well, so i just wanted to let someone who knew how that a giant ice shuggarath in the cave for the mission to get ice for nina dropped a zim for me, if i didnt have it for 360 id upload a pic to prove it, but i checked the item page and it had no drop info, so i wanted to announce a viable source. please feel free to conferm or test. Cold- Hearted Anarchist (talk) 20:45, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Just a few questions about editing.

Has there been a template made for Oz Kits and Laser Weapons yet? R goff98 (talk) 21:18, October 17, 2014 (UTC)r_goff98

Also, where do people get the captions under the pictures for the weapons? R goff98 (talk) 21:30, October 17, 2014 (UTC)r_goff98

I added an image to the Cryophobia page and the 3DD1.E page but they need a clean up. I don't know how to so could you clean it up please? R goff98 (talk) 21:46, October 17, 2014 (UTC)r_goff98

Oz Kits can use Template:Infobox weapon2. I might still have to tweak the manufacturer fields a bit - Scav works on its own, but multi-manufacturer items including scav weapons hasn't been added. Laser weapons, I'm hoping to get feedback on today. They will use Template:Infobox weapon2 as well, which might need some further tweaking. -- WarBlade (talk) 22:01, October 17, 2014 (UTC)
When you receive feedback on the laser weapons could you let me know? I would like to create the Cat O' Nine Tails page asap. R goff98 (talk)
The template is being updated today.
Feel free to proceed with updating laser articles.
-- WarBlade (talk) 21:39, October 18, 2014 (UTC)

When I go to publish the cat o' nine tails page it says I need the "'protect right". Can you help me? R goff98 (talk) 00:02, October 19, 2014 (UTC)

Cryo Element

I got a screenshot of a wep with cryo, used a color picker to grab the color, and it turns out the hex code is #0CB9CD. I know you have access to the .js and .html pages. This should be the color that cryo is, maybe it's worth the addition so we can get the element color finally?

Sidenote, what do I tell newbies about Laser weapons? Are we not allowing the creation of them yet? Don't want to tell them no because I said so.

MadCrayolaz ® 04:32, October 18, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, still hold fire. I've been working, but have two days off now, so there should be a chance to look at it now. -- WarBlade (talk) 09:00, October 18, 2014 (UTC)
Regarding elements Cryo and Shock, the colour you propose might need a tweak (both elements) seeing as there is very little separation between those two, but it's in a functional placeholder state at the moment. -- WarBlade (talk) 09:20, October 18, 2014 (UTC)
The official in game text uses the following color codes: cryo: #01D1FF, shock: #0165FF, corrosive: #01FF01, explosive: #F1D201, incendiary: #FF8001. I'd have to reinstall BL2 to get the exact slag color, but #9E01FF seems the most likely. If there is concern about confusing the element colors, there is the option of using icons like so:
Cryo sm
Cryo -- Zuriki (talk) 03:19, October 21, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, but there was an intentional move away from the in-game colours a while back. One of the reasons was we're also making them work, both together and on a black background. Notice how the yellow and green pops out, but the blue is not far off getting lost in the black? Well anyway, I know that I went too far in the grey direction for cryo, so that's another thing to patch up soon. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:27, October 21, 2014 (UTC)

That's beautiful. Well done War! InfinitysCross (talk) 21:55, October 19, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about the edit to the 3DD1.E page. >.< I'd posted that before I read all the policies. I was going to go back and remove it once I found out I made a mistake, but you beat me to it. Sorry about that! Seriously though, 3DD1.E is totally a reference to ED-E, and we all know it but can't prove it yet. But yeah, I'll be a lot more careful with my edits now. I already had a short talk with InfinitysCross, and I decided that I'll leave the info-gathering to other people. I'll just stick to spellchecking. I do that better anyways. Or not. I dunno. Outkast is great.

Hey War, have you finished The Pre-Sequel yet? I wanted to ask for your opinion on a story related matter. InfinitysCross (talk) 07:03, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

Not even close. Something about being a day and a half behind the American release, and then dealing with a number of requests on this wiki (and several matters on other wikis), along with the needed template and navigation updates here... I feel like I finally have time to sit down and enjoy the game a little bit now. That being said, I have a busy time over the next four days followed by being out of town for the following three. I think I'll finish the main story in a week or two at this rate. :) -- WarBlade (talk) 08:00, October 20, 2014 (UTC)
I see! We can wait then. I'm sure I'll ask others what they think in a more private environment (Chat or other platforms like Steam) to see what they think, and bring it around to you when you're ready. Have a safe trip! InfinitysCross (talk) 18:46, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Freezing Fridgia: Candidate for Deletio

From a somewhat outsider perspective, there was nothing much visiually wrong with the page, and after leaving that message, I edited the templates somewhat to tidy it up a bit. Leaving a message as vague as "I couldn't begin to go into what's wrong with this," contributes nothing to the conversation and, what's more, makes it impossible for someone with as little experience as I have to fix whatever issues were left by the individual who created the page.

There was absolutely no reason to delete the thing, as any changes that needed to be made could be made just fine on the existing one. My concern was that the weapon would be pageless for even longer, as has been the case with many of the uniques thus far. I realize that it hasn't been all that long since launch, but I would like to see more information available to the community as quickly as possible, and it seems that people feel more motivated to contribute if the page is already there, which is precisely why I have been making pages for weapons at all, where with previous games I just sat back and waited for other people to do the work: I don't want to wait.

If he thought the page was that bad, he should have fixed it, since he in his all knowingness was aware of every single glaring issue that slighted his tender eyes. I, myself, have just been copying the layout of other weapon pages to establish a baseline for people more knowledgable than I to layout specific weapon details, so I may well have done things incorrectly too. For example, in the infobox weapon2 template I saw used on other pages, the variant link was always set to "ON," so I followed suit. Was it immediately apparent to me that this was incorrect form? Not quite. But considering how long it took for me to set that boolean, I know for a fact that it would be no investment whatsoever for someone who knew that was incorrect to fix it. All the issues that you listed, in fact, would take no time to fix, as I, with no experience at all, was able to setup a weapon page, with links to mission, location, and a nice screenshot in less than 20 minutes, just working backward from the layout of other pages. Considering all this, I find the comment he left to be immature at best, though I see that he did finally go back and fix the page layout, so props to him, I suppose? -- Benzillah (talk) 19:20, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

I'm gonna leave my mark on this situation; the original delete tag, added by Lavisdragoon was left because I told him to after he showed me the page when it was published. At the time, I was busy (too busy to start editing it) so I told him to slap on the delete tag for now, and we could either:

A) Recreate it from scratch but appropriately

B) Start editing it to make it fit.

So from a beginning perspective, I caused this. Now its fixed, which is nice, so if the tag hasn't been removed, it should be. That's my two cents on the matter. InfinitysCross (talk) 21:44, October 20, 2014 (UTC)

Further to that, and to answer the post above, the page was never deleted - it was proposed for deletion. That's a big difference. More appropriately it perhaps should have been branded with the {{cleanup}} template (or just cleaned), but either way it was cleaned up soon after.
Should weapons be pageless? A red link informs editors of a page needing to be created, but if that page once created offers little to someone searching for information then it's worse than a red link.
Regarding fixing it, there is a huge influx of new contributors here at the moment, and most of the new contributions are presenting messes to resolve. Those of us who have a better handle on WikiText markup simply don't have the time to repair every problem. We'll fix a few and hope that the examples those repairs offer will act as a guide for newcomers to improve. -- WarBlade (talk) 22:34, October 20, 2014 (UTC)
Perhaps I do not have enough perspective of scope on the matter, but I rather think all acquirable items should have pages, regardless of the complete-ness of the pages themelves, in order to create a convenient, organised reference for all known acquirable items, given the recent-launch status of the game. There is all the time in the world to make the pages look pretty, as the release cycle for Borderlands games dictates fair time gaps between new content being added. On top of this, from my (admittedly limited) perspective, I have seen individuals flock to adding to pages once they are created, while the pages themselves took days to even be created to begin with. This implies that having a "poorly constructed" page is, in fact, better than having no page at all, because it means that page will soon be full of delicious content, and cleaned up as it comes along. Not everyone knows precisely what effect each unique barrel has on the playstyle of a weapon, or what the flavor text for a specific legendary shield is a reference to, but collectively, that information seems to pool to the surface once the groundwork has been lain.
And I agree, it would have been more appropriate to mark the page for cleanup. It would have told me, as someone who is unfamiliar with Wiki editing procedures, that something needs to be changed from a formatting perspective. Also, I never said the page was deleted, but as someone unfamiliar with Wiki editing procedures, it appeared that the page was to be removed, which is why I went ahead and made a post about it. Like I said, however, the individual who left it went ahead and cleaned it up himself, so regardless of who said to tag it, it's taken care of. -- Benzillah (talk) 00:45, October 21, 2014 (UTC)

Scav vs. Bandit

Not to seem like a fangirl for "spamming" your talk page profusely over the last two days (Read: I love you), but wouldn't it make more sense to make the Scav page just a subsection of the Bandit page? They use the same materials and stats, the only real difference is in name. InfinitysCross (talk) 03:50, October 21, 2014 (UTC)

The reason to keep them separate is mostly from the lore angle, but also to avoid confusion. Plus we have some long lists of items getting longer now, and it's been dawning on me today that our navigation templates are going need a major re-think. Keeping those two pseudo brands separate will help a little bit with that. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:59, October 21, 2014 (UTC)
I don't want to step out of line here, but is there any chance we can talk on a chat client instead of talk page? Steam, Skype, IRC? If you're okay with it. InfinitysCross (talk) 05:28, October 22, 2014 (UTC)

Edit summaries

As a longstanding Wikipedia contributor, I've been very concerned about your tendency to not provide meaningful edit summaries. While I can understand some of the edits you make, I find that you often remove material or revert edits without providing a reason. This is disconcerting to me as it leaves me unable to understand why some of my edits should be reverted or removed. Is there a specific reason for this? FieryDragonLord 19:04, October 22, 2014 (UTC)

I usually do provide edit summaries. Sometimes I miss them. Was there something specific that you were wanting clarification on? -- WarBlade (talk) 19:52, October 22, 2014 (UTC)
Not to get into a dispute with a sysop, but your contribution history indicates that the terse edit summaries you provide are not very helpful, generally failing to provide any meaningful information about why each edit was made. Your "cleanup" edits often remove content or revert edits without a helpful explanation for other editors. FieryDragonLord 20:12, October 22, 2014 (UTC)
An example is this diff. While I understand why you separated the text into two paragraphs, the edit removed most of the {{Element}} templates I had added. It would be best if you explained in more detail why this was a good idea. FieryDragonLord 20:25, October 22, 2014 (UTC)
The edit summary is a small field capable of holding a sentence, sometimes two. It simply can't hold a paragraph, which it what is needed for some of the problems I encounter on this wiki.
As for your specific example, you were slipping away from documenting a subject by comparing it to other subjects (plus some common nouns were capitalised, and you noted the paragraphing issue already). An article should ideally be an authoritative text on that subject, not reliant on links to other subjects that keep saying "Subject A is like Subject B, but does more damage, and it's also a bit like Subject C." There have been weapon articles here with as much as two-thirds comparison, and one-third actual substance about the article subject itself. Honestly, links are good, but please try to keep the spotlight focused on the subject that the article covers. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:55, October 22, 2014 (UTC)
I don't recall editing the text of the article, only the formatting and grammar. You might want to look at the history of the Cryo page. FieryDragonLord 20:59, October 22, 2014 (UTC)

Pickle Picker cleanup

I have reformatted the article, I assume you took issue with the way that the locations were formatted, I have formatted them in the style of Cult of the Vault locations now. I had to make an assumption because no reason was given for the clean-up tag; which would've been appreciated. -- zuriki (talk) 20:07, October 23, 2014 (UTC)

Tables are helpful for things like tabulating empirical data, but we soon run into problems with using them to lay out page content. For one thing, Wikia is limited in the amount of horizontal space, so spreading content horizontally, and with the infobox to the side as well, is not going to work well on small screens (have a look: check the page history, click edit and preview, then narrow the browser with to something a tablet might have). On that note, smart phones are being used more for viewing, so we're also having to think how to get decent results that medium as well. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:18, October 23, 2014 (UTC)

E-GUN white flavor text question:

Is the white flavor text on the E-GUN not relevant enough to add to the notes? The reason I ask is that all the Borderlands 2 items with white flavor text on the card that I have seen represented on this wiki (ie. Mongol, Unforgiven) have had their white flavor text noted somewhere on the page, and it seemed to me that for consistency's sake, the E-GUN page should also note this fairly unique aspect. In fact, perhaps there should be a category for weapons throughout Borderlands games that have had additional flavor text listed somewhere on the card (also useful would be a category for items that explain their mechanics on the card (ie. 3DD1.E)). -- Benzillah (talk) 23:58, October 23, 2014 (UTC)

For what it's worth, I concur with the above sentiment that E-GUN should not have had it's white text note removed. -- zuriki (talk) 01:37, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Have pictures for legendary sheild. Currently no image. Can't upload . Denied. Paxminion (talk) 01:09, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Does your image have a conflicting title? It's common to see files titled by date ie. 2014-12-31_0001.jpg which can cause conflicts. Just rename the image and see if this resolves the problem. -- zuriki (talk) 01:40, October 24, 2014 (UTC)

Hey there! I'd like to contribute to the Borderlands: Pre-Sequel Challenges page and looked up the available step by step instructions, but have some issues... And yes, I'm a new user and probably asking a stupid question, so please excuse me in advance. Thanks! I've prepared an Excel file that has the same structure as the tables for the challenges for Borderlands and Borderlands 2 and I looked up the instructions regarding tables ( however, I can't add the table, as I'm missing the 'table button' in 'Add features and media'. Can anyone assist me, so we could all have a list with the Borderlands: Pre-Sequel Challenges? --HoLeeFuk (talk) 09:30, October 27, 2014 (UTC)

I think you're biting off quite a lot if you're new to WikiText markup and are looking at making large tables. I recommend dealing with a few simple text edits to begin with. As far as tables are concerned, which editing interface are you using to edit Wikia? -- WarBlade (talk) 10:01, October 27, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your quick reply! I'm using the Visual Editor - and I wanted to add the BLPS Challenge listing to the main Challenge page (, as it contains data for both BL and BL2. I agree with you about this being a large scale project for a Wiki noob and I don't really want to ruin the nice format of the page. Maybe someone with advanced skill would want to add it to the Wiki? I'll provide the file of course. HoLeeFuk (talk) 12:42, October 27, 2014 (UTC)
You're probably just being overwhelmed by the information on that page. Basically the format goes as such: {| starts the table |- starts a new row, | adds a new item to that row, |} closes the table. -- zuriki (talk) 15:48, October 27, 2014 (UTC)
Edit: I should've mentioned, you probably want to open the table with {| border="1" otherwise you won't be able to see the cell dividers and also it kind of messes up the format if you don't.
The reason I asked which editing interface was being used was to determine which editing tools you had access to, and given that VisualEditor is still in development, I expect that the table editing support within in it may not yet have been pushed live. You may have to switch to source to get at the table format: the pull-down menu next to the cancel button, down the bottom, "[ ] Source Editor". From there you'll see the WikiText format that Zuriki is talking about. You'll also need to skip past the Help:Tables page to reach table examples -- WarBlade (talk) 19:19, October 27, 2014 (UTC)
Hi Zuriki, WarBlade, thank you very much for the prompt replies! And please excuse the really delayed answer! Thanks to your help, I've managed to finally create the tables to be uploaded. I'm making a final check prior to uploading something bad. The only concern I have is that I'm missing the figures to some of the levels of quire a few challenges (unfortunately, I'm not badass enough). Would you recommend the table upload with some blank cells? Or maybe I should be patient instead?--HoLeeFuk (talk) 15:39, November 6, 2014 (UTC)
A few blank cells will be fine. People will see them and fill them. -- WarBlade (talk) 19:42, November 7, 2014 (UTC)

Flame Off

You deleted my first post for being "mostly untrue". I do not understand, as I just did it in the game and posted my result. Can you explain why you felt my information was untrue? Recycleratt (talk) 09:30, October 27, 2014 (UTC)Recycleratt

You wrote one valid sentence. Beyond that, you didn't add the infobox, you ignored the rule about maintaining a third person perspective (reason enough to see your update vanish for that alone), and you didn't research thoroughly (the badass can emerge from other doors). So with only one sentence to sustain it, and that being a repeat of the in-game statement about the challenge, the page wasn't really useful. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:01, October 27, 2014 (UTC)

Can we get these three undeleted? File:B4R-BOT Dancing.jpg File:2014-10-21 00004.jpg File:BorderlandsPreSequel 2014-10-18 13-58-47-06.png

These were given the same categories(modified for the fact that they are from the pre-sequel) as existing challenge pictures from borderlands 2. If these were still the wrong categories surely they should be moved into the correct ones rather than wiped wholesale? --Metalax (talk) 22:34, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

Valid categories can be found as subcategories of Category:Images. Please don't find and start using any of the old categories with the word "screenshots" in them - those are in the process of being removed. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:11, October 29, 2014 (UTC)
Sure, although I will note that Category:Borderlands:_The_Pre-Sequel_Challenges_Screenshots is there as a subcategory of Category:Images with no indication that it shouldn't be used. Is there a listing of current valid categories for images and articles somewhere? Had a look, but was unable to find one.
So should nothing be put into Category:Images itself? Most wikis I've participated in before tend to have all images added to that category as well to make a master list.
I noticed that you did put a couple of those I had been categorising into Category:Maps, should they go in Category:Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Maps as well? Or is that supposed to be limited to area maps?--Metalax (talk) 23:42, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

can you help me. someone keeps literally taking down ALL of my edits and adds that i make on pages and its starting to aggravate me. i just thought you would be the one to go to beacuse your a experienced admin. the user is lavisdragon. thanks for your help if you choose to assit me. -Nick151013 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick151013 (talkcontribs)

After reviewing your edits, it's not hard to see why. You've been directly addressing the reader several times, and you have a habit of bloating articles with irrelevant data that belongs on other articles, or in some cases doesn't belong at all. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:30, October 30, 2014 (UTC)

Class Mods

My edit was for my own spelling of Cauterise, since I realised that the game displays it as Cauterize. Anyway, I'll try to rework my edits so they can be more acceptable since Roland's needed mention of his loyalty class mods for a long time. My apologies BTW.

CajNatalie (talk) 12:22, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

The update looks fine at a glance. The bit I tweaked afterwards was another policy issue. We don't talk much about "players" in the game so much here, because players are outside the game playing it. The characters are the participants. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:08, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

Bunch of Ice Holes

Hi, i just wanted to know why my Bunch of Ice Holes quest wiki page keeps being deleted?

Shadowdancer724 (talk) 12:16, November 2, 2014 (UTC)Shadowdancer724

We've developed a few policies on article format on the Borderlands Wiki over the years, and you've been ignoring them and doing your own thing. Primarily you were not writing in the third person, but you were also referring to missions as "quests" after we standardised that about four years ago, and you manually added a character category, whereas the correct categories would have been generated by the mission infobox (had you supplied one). So long story short, roughly two mistakes per sentence left that contribution in a state that we'd completely rebuild it anyway. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:11, November 2, 2014 (UTC)

Hi WarBlade,

How about a smaller map image?

This one is significantly smaller at 560x315px. I can make the changes on all the pages that i had previously edited. Thoughts?

Also, there is no rollback feature in maps yet ;_;

I had to redo the changes manually and restore the map.

Merging of Empyrean/Sentinel pages

Is what I'd suggest. I realize we've had pages for regular/Invincible variants of bosses/enemies before (Such as Pyro Pete), but multiple phased bosses we have a shared page for; that said, the only example we have as a set precedent would be the Handsome Sorcerer, as his battle phases are listed there. That's why I suggest we just merge the Sentinel (enemy) page with the Empyrean Sentinel page. InfinitysCross (talk) 02:12, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

They're quite clearly two entities. One dies, the next crawls up to take its place. One is a guardian-sized enemy that leaps and flies, the other is a giant torso. -- WarBlade (talk) 02:18, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
Sentinel dies, sinks into the ground, ripples happen and then Empyrean Sentinel comes out. It has the same upper body/head structure. There's no way to guarantee them being two seperate entities. Hell, I mean in Power Rangers the bad guys would become huge at the end of every episode, didn't change who they were. InfinitysCross (talk) 06:36, November 4, 2014 (UTC)

I have a question/obsevation for the page Hieronymous

I have noticed that the planets name is contributed to one of the creators surnames, Rob Heironimus, but I think it is more likely named after Hieronymous Bosch a famous painter who is most known for His paintings of Hell. Both names are spelled the same and I noticed that the creator in questions surname has a different spelling. Plz tell me if u think this is worth noting or not.Beast of burdenKrieg maniatier6-releasethebeast Release the beast! 19:26, November 5, 2014 (UTC)

A tangential reply here: The planet articles are not justified. Most of them only hold a sentence or two of actual information, so my position on them is that we should really pile all the mention-only planets into a glossary. That would greatly reduce the trivia bloat (if any). -- WarBlade (talk) 19:53, November 5, 2014 (UTC)
Umm OK but didn't answer my question on the names origin but OK thanks anyway.Beast of burdenKrieg maniatier6-releasethebeast Release the beast!

Necrophage/Elemental Damage

I was looking around and noticed that Necrophage has been proposed to be merged into Elemental Damage and included in the "Barrels" section. However, the Elemental Damage page itself seems a little dated and there are also separate pages like Cryo, Incendiary, Shock, Corrosive, Slag, etc, etc...also, there is no Barrels section under the Borderlands 2 portion of the Elemental Damage page. I was thinking it might make more sense to create a separate Elemental Game Objects (or whatever title seems to fit) parent page, expand the Necrophage page and add it and Firemelon, whatever the shocking cacti were called, and so on to a Plants section of the parent page, and have Barrels as one separate page listing all types of barrels, also linked to by the parent page in a section such as Industrial alongside gas tanks, propane canisters, and so on. I think the Elemental Damage page would still be needed, but with some of the information on it merged into the Elemental Game Objects pages and the individual elemental effect pages on the wiki, and with links added to all of these things.

Anyways, just looking for opinions. I'm willing to undertake this if it's deemed a good idea.

N,N Dimethyltryptamine (talk) 15:38, November 6, 2014 (UTC)

Interesting idea. I think for the moment the best course of action is to update the existing elemental damage article, and if it looks as though there is enough data there to sustain a page, then we could consider splitting off the content relating to barrels and plants. --WarBlade (talk) 19:42, November 7, 2014 (UTC)

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! Easter Eggs page deletion

I see no reason as to the removal of the Bordeerlands: The Pre-Sequel! Easter Eggs page. You claim that it is due to the page being a set of references but, just in case you've neglected to check the Easter Eggs pages for the previous gmes, almost all of the Easter Eggs for Borderlands 2 are references; The Blue Screen of Death, The Dark Souls island and the Minecraft cave in Caustic Caverns. There even an Easter Egg reference to an Easter Egg from the first Borderlands!!! If you didn't like there being references included in my page, you are more than welcome to leave a commet or messge saying so. Now then, off you pop. I'm sure that you need to go and remove the Borderlands 2 Easter Egg page with all the numerous references.

Monobrows78 (talk) 11:52, November 7, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I've trimmed that sort of bloat out of the Borderlands 2 Easter Eggs page a number of times too. Easter Eggs are hidden things that can be discovered. Just because something is a reference does not mean that it also qualifies as an "Easter Egg." By my count there was maybe three Easter Eggs in the list, and the rest just didn't belong there.

About the History Section on the Elpis page

Hay WarBlade just wanted to let u know, as much as I thank u for fixing the crammed and layout of my work on the Elpis page, there are a few mistakes that u made that I wanted to talk to u about. The first is Sarpedon NEVER entered the Vault or even the eridian facility until AFTER the crackening and 2 if my understanding of the ECHOs in Vorago Solitude is correct then the game is best four years after the crackening and within the five year jump between B1 and B2 then BL:TPS is set 1 year before 2. Just thought I'd let u know and was wondering if I can make the appropriate changes. Thank u. Beast of burdenKrieg maniatier6-releasethebeast Release the beast! 04:04, November 13, 2014 (UTC)

Adding Infoboxes

I use code editing personally. VisualEditor and the classic rich text editor don't handle template editing very well, so first things first: Which editing interface do you use? I need to know, so I can offer you the instructions specific to that entry point. -- WarBlade (talk) 08:59, November 14, 2014 (UTC)

The bug itself should be around somewhere. The replace the files thing maybe not, but I did it that way because just deleting the files or blocking them in the ini file broke another game for me. (I don't now remember whether it was BL2 or some other game using BIK videos, but it'd hang permanently when the video was supposed to run if it was blocked or removed.) --Azaram (talk) 22:15, November 14, 2014 (UTC)

Deleting the bik files would be bad I think, and frankly it's not a bug if you've deliberately tinkered with something that then causes a problem. What do you mean "blocking them in the ini file"? You should just be able to tweak the calls so that the files aren't called at all. That's all I did... except for a brief screen with a dancing Claptrap. -- WarBlade (talk) 02:52, November 15, 2014 (UTC)
"Blocking them (from loading) in the ini file" = As you'd mentioned, adding a semicolon to the willowgames.ini file. To be clear, the bug is 'if you use -nointromovies (which is a command built into the engine to skip the commercials), then in TVHM when you're shot to the moon by Jack near the beginning, you don't get the 'waking up' cutscene and Springs' dialog telling you to open the door when you're ready. You are invisible, can't shoot (you can switch weapons; Boganella was complaining) and can't do anything but activate your action skill, the door button stays red and you are unable to continue the game.
The problem with deleting the BIK files is not a bug, it is a problem with dorking around with the files... similar to changing the ini file. I had tried the semicolon in the ini file as you mentioned and it did the same thing on the other game. That doesn't need to be in there, I agree, but the -nointromovies thing should be, I think. --Azaram (talk) 00:07, November 16, 2014 (UTC)

Hey, I added some info in Redbelly's talk page, should I add it or is it superfluous? Anonther thing I have noted is that the skins seem to be a considerably rarer drop than the heads. Thanksfor your time, W4R Loader #0431 (talk) 16:50, November 15, 2014 (UTC)

Looks like it already on the page. -- WarBlade (talk) 19:00, November 15, 2014 (UTC)
Whoops, I see some of it is there. Is the part about boss drops unnecessary? Also, i guess it would be prudent wait until I can get the skins for each character before adding them. I think the skins share a slot with one or two purple-rarity buggy skins, and that's why the character skins are hard to come by. W4R Loader #0431 (talk) 18:01, November 16, 2014 (UTC)

"Tea-bag" not good. Got it. Also, do you think I should remove "seppoes?" I was going for cheeky, not offensive. Lordberticus (talk) 09:49, November 22, 2014 (UTC)

If you want to remove it, remove it. It's really not clear what you were trying to do there. -- WarBlade (talk) 09:52, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
It's rhyming slang. Seppo is short for Septic Tank = Yank. I'll remove it.
BTW How do you indent a response? Lordberticus (talk) 10:00, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
Erm... Did I just change your font? Sorry and how the hell...? Lordberticus (talk) 10:03, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
You were using one of the WYSIWYG editors, either VisualEditor or the classic rich text editor. When you put that "-->" arrow in, the editor interpreted it as closing some markup and it conflicted with scripting further up the page, thereby mangling the font.
I indent responses with colons in code view like this:
Opening post.

::Foll up to the response.

:::Further response, etc.
And about the Septic Tank thing, yeah don't even go there. Please go to the Terms of Use link at the bottom of the page and have a read. -- WarBlade (talk) 22:04, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
Once again, sorry for screwing up your page and thanks for the explanation of how I managed it.
I agree that "seppo" contravenes the terms and is not on. That too won't happen again.
On a lighter note, I can now indent! (Yay!) So thanks for that too. Lordberticus (talk) 12:28, November 23, 2014 (UTC)

Random question - did you want mentioned-only places to have pages? If so ... anhalt Ridge and Hessen Steppe appear in a map in The Merrif's Office. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 10:21, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

No. If a subject can't even sustain a paragraph, then it isn't worthy of a page devoted to it. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:39, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

And I thought my 1000 edit's on ATHF wiki was impressive -pouts- two questions for ya!

What's the wiki star tag for?

Also do you guys have any pirticular order? For example, on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force wiki, it's pretty much just me, the mod and the admin doing stuff since it's a smallish wiki and for the most part we say "hey i'm doing this page" so no one else messes with it while on others, larger one's community communication isn't always active.

Answer 1: Wikia Stars are a group of admins selected by Wikia staff to (in general terms) act as a guiding force to help Wikia communities grow. We're also crash test dummies. See more here.
Answer 2: Every wiki is different. Even on the Borderlands Wiki each major game release has been covered by the efforts of a different group of people, so the structure of how people fit together, and how the information comes together, changes. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:59, November 28, 2014 (UTC)

As far as capitalization goes, what's the norm for generic npcs, points of interest (areas within a map level), etc? Do we use in-game capitalization conventions, or only capitalize proper nouns? In the Cleanliness Uprising article I just wrote, I capitalized the points of interest, but not "claptrap" or "cleaning bot". Each wiki has it's own way of dealing with capitalization and I figure I should nail this down before I make any more articles. I appreciate the help. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 03:08, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for asking. :) We capitalise proper nouns, and seeing as points of interest are presented as proper nouns your capitalisation was correct.
What you got wrong in the article was that we present content in the third person (unless quoted) on this wiki. It is therefore breaking the style of the wiki to directly address readers. eg. "Find R-0513 at the claptrap shop located just off the Central Terminal," should be something like, "The mission is accepted from R-0513 in the claptrap repair shop in the Central Terminal" -- WarBlade (talk) 08:57, December 2, 2014 (UTC)
Roger. I'm not much of a writer. Much better at crunching numbers and writing templates, but I'll make sure everything is strictly 3rd person while I attempt to finish getting at least stubs up for the rest of these side missions. I had read the policies, but I wasn't completely certain how strictly the proper noun capitalization and 3rd person style was followed. We follow these very strictly at Nukapedia, so I'll just make sure I'll write here in the same style I would there. Thanks for the response. Any further tips, or critiques as I do these are appreciated. I'd like to try and not make much work for other editors to have to follow behind and correct:P Also, I'm assuming it's ok to use my sandbox like I am, and substituting the work when completed? I understand it's throwing my sandbox into content and maintenance categories from the infobox, but I'll make sure it's cleared when I'm done with the missions. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 22:21, December 2, 2014 (UTC)
I have no problem with you using your user space like that. It's a preview, of sorts, and I always encourage people to preview their edits before publishing. -- WarBlade (talk) 22:25, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

Number one, thanks for cleaning up that navbox. I meant to remove the deprecated center tags and replace them with inline styling (I had just copied over the BL2 navbox as a guide and they are still in that one), but forgot. Second, I looked, admittedly not too hard, but could not find what the parameters "abbr1', "abbr2",etc. did. I wondered what they did, but there is no template doc and I couldn't find that parameter anywhere in the template. Just wondering what it did, if it does anything I'm missing.

Third, sorry about adding the cleanup template to the section that needed expanding. Only saw that template and the stub template available. Do we have a {{Section}} or {{Expansion needed}} template to use on sections that need expanding? I added that template to the pages so I could easily find the articles that needed the strategy sections expanded by looking at the maintenance categories. And if we don't, do you think we should have one? Having a separate category for pages that are past the stub stage but have sections that need expanding might be a good thing. Let me know. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 20:54, December 9, 2014 (UTC)

I threw up a couple of sample templates for the above in my sandbox. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 21:12, December 9, 2014 (UTC)
Stub should suffice. I'd rather see the article stubs cleaned up by edits to get all those articles into a more complete state than have yet another maintenance template on the wiki. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:21, December 9, 2014 (UTC)
Roger. Once I get done with the rest of the missing mission articles, I'll go back over the rest and find the ones that need the strategy sections written. The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 22:02, December 9, 2014 (UTC)

Dutch Borderlands wiki

Hi, WarBlade :) just passing by to mention that this wiki's Dutch baby brother, the Dutch Borderlands wiki, has received a bit of a make-over in the past week. It got some extra pages, a new main page and a new layout assembled from the layouts of the different language Borderlands wiki.

If this wiki has anyone taking care of interlanguage links (with or without bot), feel free to let them know that the Dutch wiki has received a fresh touch now. And even if you guys don't bother all that much, I thought it might just be a fun little fact to know. Cheers!

Regarding edit of Mad Moxxi page

I would like to edit the page titled Mad Moxxi, by adding in details under the notes section about the health regenerating ability based on a percentage of damage dealt but was unable to do so

After clicking on the edit button, firstly it said that I needed to be logged in to edit the page (Note: This page has been protected so that only registered users can edit it. The latest log entry is provided below for reference), when I have already done so before

Following that, I keep on getting a blank in the editor with no content to edit

Could you help me gain access? Thanks :)

The health regenerating effects vary by weapon and should be documented on the relevant weapon articles, not on Moxxi's article. -- WarBlade (talk) 18:08, December 27, 2014 (UTC)
