I'm not as upset as the guy above, but I can see where he's coming from.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex3927 (talkcontribs)
He came from a position of throwing his toys out of the cot when his little 'walkthrough' (to move a character into a position to look up Moxxi's skirt) was removed thanks to its worthlessness. Wikia has an age requirement for contributors to be at least 13, and he made it pretty clear that his maturity level wasn't adequate for this wiki, regardless of his age. -- WarBlade (talk) 14:41, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

I would like you to see this towards the bottom; a comment made by a user who goes by Sh!ft. I banned him from chat because he called someone a derogatory term, and now he's taking it out on me. Take action if possible; Thanks War! CrackLawliet (talk) 19:49, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

Unacceptable, I agree. I'd like to know the full story though. What was said in chat? Do you have a record? -- WarBlade (talk) 22:49, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
Here's an image to the actions leading up to his insult
One user said the poem that Terramorphous's items make, he subsequently insulted him, breaking the Chat's rule of derogatory terms and earning himself a ban. He then posted on Klerik's Talk Page (Since removed by Klerik himself), and my own talk page calling me a "Penis goblin" (As can still be seen on my own talk page). His ban from chat has since been made permanent, done by MadCrayolaz. CrackLawliet (talk) 23:25, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I've see the talk page edits. What was said in chat to earn the initial block though? -- WarBlade (talk) 23:29, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
The image posted above is a direct screenshot I took of the chat when it happened. CrackLawliet (talk) 23:34, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, I see. Thanks. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:35, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
So action will be taken? CrackLawliet (talk) 23:37, June 4, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, thank you for the report. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:41, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

Mighty Morphin' EXP

I don't think, that it is just an opinion of mine. From Lvl 60 to 61 I only needed half of an hour. Each of those Mutated Badass Varkids gave 4500XP or more. Leafless (talk) 04:52, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

You called it a very efficient way of levelling a character. That is an opinion. An alternative opinion is any side trips are not very efficient ways of levelling a character, because characters will level just fine throughout the story without needing half hour farming runs. Because what you posted is highly likely to be contested, it is a better idea not to make a post like that. Additionally, the post was littered with oversights and mistakes, requiring a spelling and grammar clean before publication. -- WarBlade (talk) 05:14, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

Unlinked Video

I added the 'candidate for deletion' category to this page a few days ago; I'm not sure how I'm supposed to go about this, but in case a report is necessary, um, video showing how to exploit a glitch in order to instagib bosses. Is that something that should be removed? Snowskeeper---Till Hell Freezes Over. (talk) 07:37, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

It wasn't linked in any article, and in the interests of preserving fun in gaming it also doesn't really have a place here either. So yeah. Requesting the attention of an admin is perfectly fine. -- WarBlade (talk) 07:50, June 8, 2013 (UTC)

Hiya War,

I cannot find the proper section sequence (I hate wiki navigation). Can you give me a link to how sections are supposed to be laid out? Thanks. Final signature.jpg 17:19, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

Sections of what exactly? -- WarBlade (talk) 21:12, June 10, 2013 (UTC)

I was wondering if strategy came before notes, but you answered the question indirectly by not changing it. I also just wanted the reference to bookmark it. Final signature.jpg 06:11, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, notes are generally afterthoughts, and come before trivia. -- WarBlade (talk) 06:34, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

why do my edits and pages get deleted?

XxandoxX2552 (talk) 12:02, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

 • A string of test edits to remove data on one item variant, and replace it with another, quite disturbingly referencing an image that you formatted to be upside-down before you uploaded it.
 • An article on a subject (that is already documented appropriately) that you named "Ye ol' Fyrestone."
I think the more appropriate question here is not why they were reverted, but why you made posts like these on this wiki in the first place. -- WarBlade (talk) 12:26, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

So what quotes are acceptable that aren't mission based? Pretty much all the quotes from main NPCs are said during a specific mission. Does that mean the only acceptable quotes for characters such as Moxxi, Brick, Roland, Scooter, etc. are the "You finish that job yet?/I don't have work for you" quotes?

Dr. Feelgood (talk) 04:42, June 14, 2013 (UTC)

Maybe the odd the one-liner that shows off the character, but anything that's a dialogue between two should really stay on an article where both sides of the discussion can be documented without quoting characters out of context. -- WarBlade (talk) 11:59, June 14, 2013 (UTC)
Putting every quote with the mission it comes from seems like an unnecessary amount of work. It'd be easier to put character quotes on their own page and than in parentheses nxt to the quote give the mission the quote comes from. Dr. Feelgood (talk) 05:52, June 19, 2013 (UTC)
Easier in some cases possibly, but given how much dialogue some of the characters generate, putting all of their mission dialogue in the character articles leaves a huge bullet list on those articles. Consider Tannis's ECHOs on top of everything else. Please confine mission transcripts to the missions. -- WarBlade (talk) 05:57, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

Policy concerning exploits, etc?

Hello, you seem to be the guy running the show around here so I was hoping you could clarify something for me. I've been playing Borderlands for a while now and I know a fair amount of tips and tricks on the shadier side. For example, I know if you're stuck on Death Race: Battle 3 in Torgue's DLC, driving across the finish line using a secondary controller counts and can make a difference of precious seconds. My question is, is it against Wiki policy to post these kind of tips? I mean, I'm not exactly gonna make a tutorial on hacking weapons in (seriously, screw people who hack), but what about little map exploits and such that might help players having trouble? Furthermore, what about item duplication? I know that's on the darker side but it can be useful for people will multiple characters and people who fight with their friends over legendaries in co-op like me :D Also, if it isn't against the rules, is it okay to post video tutorials on how to do said exploits like the Death Race glitch? I know it's controversial, but hey, there used to be a whole chunk of the Evil Smasher page dedicated to using that glitch and the 'new videos' feed is full of little exploits to solo raid bosses etc, so it's not as though there isn't some precedent.

If it's against the rules then I won't do it of course, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna grind anybody's gears before I posted / modified an article. And by the by, sorry for the accidental use of 'the player', I read your page and I'll certainly be avoiding that in the future :)

Fireguy109 (talk) 16:56, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

Probably the best case example of getting around tricky parts of the game was with fighting Mad Mel in Borderlands. The mission was hard enough that solo players could have a really rough time with it, so we allowed the information on how to get out of the arena (seeing as character death would have the same result anyway). As for Death Race, I'm inclined to think that the race done in Normal Mode, with level 30 enemies and a high level reward, is exploitative enough just in legitimate play alone. This is a wiki though, so it's fair to note that a second player planted at the finish line might alleviate a bit of stress. I'll say "no" to a full exploit video though - I think a sentence will suffice.
As for duping, that's outright cheating. Unlike the Mad Mel and Death Race cases, where the game content can be notoriously hard in particular spots, duping powerful guns is granting characters a handicap to make the entire game easier. We don't need videos to support that. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:13, June 15, 2013 (UTC)

skin layout proposal

well, after 3 hours and crossed eyes, i have a unfinished proposal example. Please take a look at it and feel free to directly edit any format issues (or anything else) you might see. Also any input would be appreciated on the layout proposal or on my talk page. Thanks Final signature.jpg 18:23, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

I have just got done scouring the maya/skins history for any glimps of head rarity and the only ones I found was purple for shrapnel slayer and 1 useless white info. I am currently leveling a maya healer so i will pay attention for rarity. If you know any of the rarities, please leave me a list on my talk page. Thanks. Final signature.jpg 06:47, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, I am done with the final template (at least what I am going to do to it), and ready to move on to another skin page. The format will be the final versions, unless otherwise guided. Please leave your final thoughts on the layout proposal page before I replace the contents of the Maya/Skins page with it. Thanks for your input. Final signature.jpg 09:23, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

I responded with a post on the forum. If the trivia can be linked to the pictures themselves (within the boxes) then feel free to add that code to the trivia section. You have aforementioned permission to edit the page directly, so feel free to jump in (on any area). I am not trying to be the sole author, just trying to make it better than it is (in fact, anyone may jump in as far as I am concerned).

I probably should have made the template a forum. If it goes to adding trivia to boxes, I will make a forum with a copy and everyone can play. There is also the idea of adding trivia to each section, or at least the major sections (head and skin). Final signature.jpg 13:51, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

Very cool, I figured out how to directly link the trivia names to the picture section that the picture can be found in. So have a go at the example and see if that works. Each section id is just the first picture in that section. I have to say that my favorite section id is: Orange You Glad... Final signature.jpg 16:16, June 20, 2013 (UTC)

User Images

As of today 12:17, June 17, 2013 (UTC), I noticed that my user page is now missing an image. Upon investigation, I learned that it was deleted because it was missing a category. Until now, I did not know much about adding "categories," simply because I never really looked at the right side of the editor. However, the page states that uncategorized images are deleted after 24 hours, and "unused" images are purged monthly. I do not know which one it was, but both of the images on my user page (the one I use for my profile and the one that was deleted) have been there for a few months now - and only one was deleted. I understand that the wiki policy was only being followed, and can respect that. If it is at all possible, I would like to re-upload/fix the image. I have already attempted to fix my user page, though I can't seem to edit my profile image at all. Any help you can offer me in this situation is appreciated and I apologize for not following wiki guidelines in the first place. Life is a learning experience, right? Sakuretsu115 (talk) 12:17, June 17, 2013 (UTC)

The deletion will probably have been due to an uncategorised image. I recall skimming through a maintenance list and removing a few images listed therein. It is perfectly fine for you to re-upload, but please categorise your personal images as Category:User specific images.
The "profile image" I think you are referring to is your avatar. If you mouse over it you should see a link appear below it saying, "Edit avatar". Is that what you were missing? -- WarBlade (talk) 12:34, June 17, 2013 (UTC)
Hello, again. It took me a while to check on your response. I had no idea you would respond so quickly. Anyway, I'm still having some trouble with trying to re-upload/fix my missing image. I keep getting an upload warning stating that I need to "modify the file description and try again." I have looked over this, and believe that I have fulfilled everything that is applicable/to the best of my abilites - though the same warning keeps appearing. I do not wish to cause any unnecessary trouble, though any further help and/or guidance is greatly appreciated. If there is nothing that can be done, then I accept that. Thank you for your time and cooperation. Sakuretsu115 (talk) 20:56, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
I've fixed it from my end. Please note the new category added to the image. -- WarBlade (talk) 22:19, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Move Back From Forum

Doc specifically told me to move the new pages to forums, and mark them with the unreleased content template. Why did you move it back? MadCrayolaz ® 17:04, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

There was no fair warning. Doc is the first one to talk about when things are done "behind closed doors" EDIT:(my description), as in chat or steam, without fair warning published on the wiki. Final signature.jpg 19:03, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

 • You made a mess of a page move for an article that will be moved back in under a week, and given that the release is so imminent there was really no reason to bury it in the forum namespace anyway.
 • The DLC article was even worse. It has been in the main space since the start of May, and has started becoming a notable link target. It is also likely to be a highly searched subject at the moment, which gives it a certain degree of importance that should not be relegated to the forum. Furthermore, it is linked prominently from the main page of this wiki, and therefore should not be daisy-chain linked via a redirect.
-- WarBlade (talk) 22:05, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

iatbr note: if something was mentioned on Dr.F's talk page, warblade could have stated any concerns beforehand. It doesnt take much to put it down on the wiki somewhere. Final signature.jpg 22:16, June 22, 2013 (UTC) You should take this up with Dr. F then. I'm pretty sure hierarchy goes in Doc's favor. MadCrayolaz ® 03:17, June 23, 2013 (UTC) Dr.F is the one who mentioned it... discussion continued on Mad's talk page. Final signature.jpg 03:33, June 23, 2013 (UTC)

Edit removed?

Why was my edit to Claptrap's Birthday Bash! removed? It was relevant trivia to the related quest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pogiforce‎ (talkcontribs)

As the one who removed the edit, let me clarify; that QR code is on every pizza, and there are various other QR codes throughout the game; there's no reason to add it to the mission page. I was gonna add that into my summary, but I accidently submitted it before writing the summary. The QR Code note is already on a different page. InfinitysCross (talk) 21:01, June 24, 2013 (UTC)

Hellfire move

As it is protected to sysop moves only, could you move Hellfire (Borderlands) to "HellFire (Borderlands)"? That's its actual name, unless my inventory list which has four of them (yeah, a really rare weapon) is lying. --MLGisNot4Me talk 21:58, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

Difference being in BL1, all weapon names are in full caps so there is really no way of knowing. InfinitysCross (talk) 22:09, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

When they're not equipped you can see them in your inventory (not in the item card) with "correct" caps, such as "TD440 Combustion HellFire". --MLGisNot4Me talk 22:23, June 25, 2013 (UTC)

Ancient Dragons

You said that the strategy section on the Ancient Dragons page was misplaced. If I just make an article for the mission then copypaste it there, that will be fine, right?

Regarding the capitalization of "unique"

Regarding the edit of mine which you recently undid, (I know it's minor this is really more so I'll no in the future),

On other pages, like Bad Touch, I have noticed that "unique" is capitalized. I'm just wondering if that is simply a mistake on that page, as I assumed it wasn't originally.

Thank you for your aid in this matter.

I apologise for my terrible spelling and grammar on that first post, English is my first language. I had assumed that the word was capitalized because it represented a category of weapon. Thank you for correcting me in this.

Edit Removal

what did i do to get my edit removed?—Preceding unsigned comment added by TheHangman (talkcontribs)

Please sign your posts with four tildes (~) after your comment. Your edit was removed due to the fact that the wiki doesn't condone speculation without an official source. All these assumptions of Krieg being Tina's fathers haven't, and probably won't be, confirmed by Gearbox. InfinitysCross (talk) 05:19, June 29, 2013 (UTC)
ok. i'll remember that. but it is possible. TheHangman (talk) 05:22, June 29, 2013 (UTC)
Possibilities are the problem. Back in the day editors opted to write all manner of possibilities about Angel's origins, to the point where that page became more speculation that documentation. As a result, we've been putting a stop to that practice ever since, and have requested that all speculation be confined to pages outside main articles (blogs and talk pages are fine). -- WarBlade (talk) 05:30, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

I have been asked to formally appeal for volcannon to shorten his ban time. I believe the user is unfamiliar with wiki rules and policies, not that that is an excuse. Thanks for taking the offense in consideration the first time and not making a permma ban. That said, he would like to continue to add to the wiki (obviously not new pages with no content) as soon as possible.

I leave it in your good hands Final signature.jpg 16:26, June 30, 2013 (UTC)

Can I get your opinion on something?

Do you think we should limit the amount of variants there are per weapon? We have pages that have over 30 variants that we don't really need. I just wanted to know where you would stand on such a situation. InfinitysCross (talk) 01:03, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

The variant page additions are mostly worthless. They only serve to cite information in the main article, and not much else. So for suggestions on what to trim:
 • Just get a broad cross section of level and damage numbers from minimum to maximum, and cut out anything superfluous that is adequately covered by other entries. Like that page has several level 50 guns with the only distinction being the element - you might as well remove all but one of those.
 • Cut out anything linking to a picture so blurry that the stats aren't legible, and tag the offending image for deletion.
 • If in doing that you can see a viable limit for numbers of entries, then establish a limit.
WarBlade (talk) 01:24, July 1, 2013 (UTC)
Do you think we should get a community consensus for such before we go and change everything? And if we do, wouldn't we also need to lock the Variant page so more variants aren't added? Thank you for your opinion War. InfinitysCross (talk) 01:28, July 1, 2013 (UTC)
Yes. At a glance I'd say 20 entries should be enough, but you might find that number inadequate or larger than necessary. So if you want to establish a limit then community involvement would be for the best. As for worthless entries, just ditch them if you can't see a point to them, or especially if they are just not legible. -- WarBlade (talk) 01:37, July 1, 2013 (UTC)
Do you mind if I use what you wrote in the post I am writing about changing this? I don't want to publish it and have something happen where I didn't get your permission to use your quote? I'm in an essay/news-esque mindset. InfinitysCross (talk) 04:12, July 2, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, go for it. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:13, July 2, 2013 (UTC)

Regarding "Borderlands 2" category

I was wondering if content which is found in a DLC, like Mr. Miz should still be in the "Borderlands 2" category, or if the "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep" category was sufficient (since everything in that DLC has to be in Borderlands 2).

Thank you for your aid in this matter.

KillarDeez ~ Any Questions? 05:25, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

I dislike those categories due to their ambiguity, and would rather see them replaced altogether. But to answer the question, the categories in question have been used to categorise articles into either a main game or a particular DLC, not both in the case of DLC content. -- WarBlade (talk) 05:40, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

What you wrote in response to my prior inquiry about categories (DLC vs Borderlands 2) has made me think. Would it be possible to create new, less ambiguous categories for use with the DLC and just in general?

Also, I have come across some articles which I believe to be categorized incorrectly (some of them done by myself without knowledge of my wrongdoing) and was wondering if there was any way to remove categories from an article... preferably without having to pester a sysop about it.

All help is much appreciated! KillarDeez ~ Any Questions? 13:25, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

Categories can be found by viewing the editing screen in source mode (instead of visual mode) - the associated categories will be listed somewhere at the bottom of the page and/or in the infobox code at the top.  nagy   talkScorpio-full.pnglog     14:33, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

There is something weird going on between Special:Contributions/OfficialGMania and Special:Contributions/Hiddarg and I dont have time before work to check it out. It seems like the former is replacing video and I am not sure if that is considered vandalism. Thanks. Final signature.jpg 18:22, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

Do you have a specific example? -- WarBlade (talk) 21:31, July 4, 2013 (UTC)
I would advise looking Here, he has had problems do to video uploads in the past, and with Hiddarg in particular. Also, is you read the summaries of Hiddarg's edits... well... they aren't kind. KillarDeez ~ Any Questions? 22:30, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

This edit and the last edit on the Eridium page. Not sure if either actions could be considered vandalism or warrent a warning (on this wiki). Given the officialGmania history and then Hiddarg erased the very link he was "protecting" just to give a rant summary... It's just weird... I wanted to run it by you before putting warning tags down. Final signature.jpg 00:57, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw. It's tit-for-tat at the moment. The video was worthless anyway. 8 minutes of footage to prattle on about a note that can be typed with one short sentence. -- WarBlade (talk) 01:10, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

LOL I followed the link in the history and that one was even worse. I'll let GMania figure out how to be a bit less mono (and filter out breathing) before I slap a tag on him. Final signature.jpg 01:21, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Mysterious Amulet Categories

I noticed your "cat clean" edit and was just curious about something. Before the edit the Amulet was in the Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep category (as it is content found in that DLC) and it may also have been in the Borderlands 2 category (wrongfully, if the DLC category was correct). After your edit the Amulet was and is no longer in the DLC category, but is in the Borderlands 2 category. I'm just wondering if that was on purpose, and if so, why the Amulet doesn't belong in the DLC category (legitimate question, not a challenge). KillarDeez ~ Any Questions? 23:23, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

As said previously, I dislike those categories - they're full of ambiguity problems. The items are categorised by information in the templates, mostly just from the infobox. They will not need any categories to be manually added for the most part. Here's the tricky part with them though: The items are just listed by which of the two games they occur in, because they are transferable between the main campaigns and the DLCs without really being specific to any one. It's only the last few DLCs where a consideration for items introduced in a particular DLC has crept in, and that's something we haven't adapted to yet. -- WarBlade (talk) 05:23, July 6, 2013 (UTC)

Categories (again)

Apologies for my constant pestering about this topic.

I currently have two main queries. The first is in regard to Category:Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep locations and Category:Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep missions. I noticed that with all previous DLCs, both the location and mission sub-categories were placed in the main DLC category, this is an example. Having noticed that, I assumed that the same should be done for DLC4. I suppose my question is why you disagree.

My second query is in regards to issues with categories as they are now, most notably: ambiguity. Is it possible for a non-sysop to create categories without penalty, and if not, is it possible to request the creation of categories. Example categories might be Borderlands 2 Weapons/Shields/Relics (each "/" representing a different cat with the same beginning) and equivalent categories for the DLCs. If this is a possibility, I am willing to work on the categorizing of pages with these new categories myself. I understand if you would prefer someone with more seniority or whom you know better working on this (if it's even possible), though.

Thank you for any aid, as always. KillarDeez ~ Any Questions? 21:05, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

To the first query, categories ideally should only be categorised once. If categories in those two categories have been categorised multiple times, I'll have to look through and see what people have done... :-/
Item categories are automatically generated by the item infobox templates. If we feel we need more categories for some reason, we'll start it from the template. We currently have a few problems to iron out in that area though, because of the class mod article split and SMGs. So for the moment, please don't try and add new item-related categories. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:15, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
I understand in regards to the item-related categories, but is it possible to make some image-related categories? I have been working on the Pix w/o Cats and found that a lot of the categorization was very broad and, as you have said previously, ambiguous as to what exactly belongs in a category. Unfortunately, an example of this does not spring to mind at the moment. I suppose my main question is whether it is possible to create a category without being a sysop? If it is possible, what is the best way to create the categories so as to not step on anyones toes? KillarDeez ~ Any Questions? 21:25, July 9, 2013 (UTC)
Images should only be in Category:Images of... or just Category:Images where they don't fit a particular group. There are also a few image categories, like Borderlands promotional images and Borderlands Wiki images, that are generally out of game content. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:32, July 9, 2013 (UTC)

The Magic of Childhood

In the Magic of Childhood article, you changed the part about surgers/detonators to say 'zappers' and 'bushwhackers' instead. I did the quest at lvl61 and the enemies were called Orc Surger, Orc Detonator and Orc Fire Leaper. I imagine you did the quest at a different level. How should we reflect that on the article? The DLC was Gamestop exclusive.

On the American market it came through Gamestop. Outside of the American market it came through other participating retailers, so please do not claim it was completely exclusive to Gamestop. -- WarBlade (talk) 14:29, July 18, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about earlier, due to a discussion I had with a friend about said DLC I decided to look it up, and could unfortunately only find info about gamestop. (As usual whenever there's something "exclusive".)

Anyway, I wish to apologize about my previous messages and my magalomaniac behaviour.

Sheriff's Badge

For the record, I was correcting someone else's horrible grammar, while retaining the original information. Not a lot of relevance, but that's kind of the point of trivia. If you want to shoot someone else in the face, go ahead I guess —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex3927 (talkcontribs)

Mentioning numbers of other items that might fit similar criteria as the one discussed in an article leaves an enduring problem for two reasons: For one thing, the other items aren't relevant to the topic in the first place, and secondly, every time a DLC comes out it brings new items to the game that in some cases have made a mess of specific numbers of items written into notes like the one you were trying to preserve. Case in point, "there are X number of Moxxi guns in Borderlands 2... oh, now a few more." Rather than leave a growing number of repair jobs to see patched and re-patched every time new things get added to the game, it's better to just snuff out the problem. -- WarBlade (talk) 14:25, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

Errant Category

I added the Category:Pages with broken file links to Talk:Krieg and have no idea how it happened. I saw that there is a new autocat for UC's in that category, and I guess its possible that a UC has a custom signature on that page... or I just hit cntrl-something?

Anyway, I cannot take the category away so I thought I would run it by you. Final signature.jpg 23:47, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

I think I know how it happened... I wanted to leave an edit summary of taking it to the talk page, so I edited the previous section and got "smart" and replaced the summary title to the section I was making. Thus creating a non-existent broken file link, does that make sense? Final signature.jpg 23:58, July 20, 2013 (UTC)

Location images

Hi! So I was looking at the location articles for Borderlands 2 and I thought that the images for those locations were very inconsistent and weren't really any good in showing the area. I would think that the loading screen of every area (photoshopping the fun and any text out) would be a far better choice, so before I go off and put some work into that, I thought I'd ask for "permission" first. Would that be a good idea, can I just replace the images on the location articles? Thanks.
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 23:09, July 27, 2013 (UTC)

The location images were set up for the maps a while back. And the load screens have an additional issue: A big fat gun obscuring part of the image. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:55, July 28, 2013 (UTC)

There's a lot of inconsistency on the location images, some are maps, some are crappy maps, some are screenshots in-game, some are loading screen and sometimes there's nothing at all. The gun isn't a problem at all, since with just some more screenshots, you can combine all the parts and make images like this. Don't worry about making those, I would be able to take care of that. There's the little "Loading" on the top, but I still think those would be better suited than a map of the area. Of course, the map should still be in the article, but not at the top and not in the infobox.
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 20:16, July 28, 2013 (UTC)

(casual reminder to reply to my suggestion as I saw you have been active on the Wiki since I replied here)
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 00:28, July 29, 2013 (UTC)

I did reply. This situation is no different to any other when you want make sweeping changes to a situation that has been standard with this community for the past three years. Create a blog and see what others want to do. -- WarBlade (talk) 00:36, July 29, 2013 (UTC)

Wow, so that's it? I ask about a crappy situation, the status of the location infobox images, I suggest that I want to improve them, and you just shoot it down by saying that three years ago, the community decided that those images would be the maps and that's that...? Well that's crappy. I'm not just wanting to make a sweeping change, I'm trying to improve the Wiki. You could've just stated why you guys prefer the maps over the much better looking loading screens for the areas and why you never even put any work into it since there are a lot of wrong images on the location articles. If you guys insist on map images, I would be fine with that, but the attitude, the blunt reaction and not even wanting to further discuss this with me, is just really unproductive in my eyes. Please properly engage in conversation with me, thanks.
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 01:39, July 29, 2013 (UTC)

Nobody shot down anything - in fact you as with anyone else will be advised to start a blog poll and see how we roll from there. And yes it is a sweeping change, regardless of its nature being improvement or modification. The most I will give you is a recommendation to do up all necessary images and templates and propose them via a test page for public opinion. So why don't you "go off and put some work into that", and we look forward to seeing how it turns out.  nagy   talkScorpio-full.pnglog     20:35, July 29, 2013 (UTC)

I would have to agree with Nagy. Although your Oasis shot is done well, I also think that the split image that Dr.F suggests would be ideal because maps are essential for out of game research.

As for warblade, he is a very factual kinda guy and did answer your question by pointing out the biggest problems with it, not to deter you but to inform you of the obstacles, and how to overcome them (make a blog or forum).

The first thing that should be done is improvement of the existing maps in prep for the change to split image infoboxes (there is a user working on that now, as a matter of fact). Final signature.jpg 07:04, July 30, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for addressing my posts in a reasonable fashion, I've made a blog post about a possible change, so I would suggest you check it out and let me know!

Hello, How do you link another page like when talking about sirens and you are listing sirens, how do you link their page with their name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Agamer100 (talkcontribs)

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. To link to the Siren article, link like this: Siren. To link to Maya, Maya, and so on. If you need a link that has a different name than the linked page you can link like this: <displayed link name>, eg. a younger Siren.-- WarBlade (talk) 22:48, July 29, 2013 (UTC)

Revelant information

Hey, I'm not sure if this is the official way of doing this, but others are asking you things here so I figured I would too. If a Hyperion pistol increases accuracy with firing, or a Tediore smg is thrown like a grenade when reloaded, should that be mentioned on the E-tech page? I went through recently and removed all the info that one should know from reading the weapon card, and was apparently accused of vandalism by another user who undid the edit. I would just go change it back, but I figured I'd ask first. Alex3927 (talk) 12:51, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

I recommend you use the E-tech talk page to try and explain why you removed what you removed, and give the disputing party the opportunity to explain why the information was restored. Other contributors will weigh on the disputed information, and hopefully somewhere along the line an agreement will be reached about what is pertinent and what is not. -- WarBlade (talk) 13:15, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

Three revert rule

I answered you on IninitysCross talk page. We should definately include it in the policy if it can get peeps banned. Final signature.jpg 08:19, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

Banning is for extreme offences, not something that applies to edit wars. As for blocks as a result of revert wars, I don't think I've had to go that far more than about once or twice these past three years, if ever. Hardly something to bother adding more rules for. The problem is simply too insignificant to warrant adding more red tape to our policies. -- WarBlade (talk) 11:47, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

Ahh... with all the talk of vandalism and blocks, I got confused. Anyway, I will look and see if a discrete link would be appropriate and let you know what I find. Final signature.jpg 12:45, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

This link is an interesting read. I have never seen it before, since it is void on this wiki. I definitely think that Users have a right to know any standard criteria that may get them blocked (editing four times to circumvent reverts or reverting three times in a 24 hour period).

I think the advice given is also worthy of note.

If you follow this criteria, then it needs to be a published policy. I propose a change from:

Other vandalism refers to vandalism that does not fit into the above categories. This would include moving a page to a bad name, swearing, and more.

To: Other vandalism refers to vandalism that does not fit into the above categories. This would include moving a page to a bad name, swearing, edit wars, and more.

Simple change with definition and good advice. I will alert Dr.F of my intentions, if that is the criteria that Users are under. Final signature.jpg 13:32, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

I added the link to the (3RR, 24-hour) policy. I think a (3RR, 3day) policy is more fitting but I agree with you on making tons of policy changes and simple adoption is best until it would become a problem. Thanks for your time on that.

On the MLP note, I agree with you but obviously they need an outlet and probably didn't know to go to the talk page. I definately wanted to give them that right even though its futile. Final signature.jpg 11:48, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

I have official apologized to Acegikmo31 on behalf of the wiki. I have also linked the Simplified ruleset to the three revert rule for official clarity and consistency in use. I am glad that the wiki has benefited and that differences were worked out. Final signature.jpg 13:08, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Infobox Weapon Template

For some reason, it is adding a |}} to the end of the template, any idea why? MadCrayolaz ® 16:26, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

(Fixed already)
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 18:10, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah. A relatively new contributor here updated the infobox template with minimal discussion on where and how the change should go. What I see now is a global infobox change that that I can't see a use for outside of the location infoboxes, and a switch added directly to articles. This mess should have been discussed and tested before implementation. It now needs an extensive rebuild. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:23, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Well the image parameter of the infobox has the file link () included, so I couldn't use that parameter for the switch template. If your infobox was simplified, well, it would be more clear. Also, if you have a complaint that my change is only applicable for location articles, then you shouldn't have used one infobox main template for all the other sub-templates. If we want to use something different for one type of infobox (in this case the infobox for locations), we have no choice to make the change to the main infobox template. It's just how it is.

In my defense, on the accusation of acting without discussion, I contacted you multiple times on the subject of these location infobox image changes and I have gotten very minimal response. You didn't even bother commenting on my blog post like I asked you to, so how would I feel encouraged to ask if I could edit the infobox to add my changes to get the Switch template in there...? Now I could edit it once more so that the actual Switch template is in the Infobox template and the infobox location template in the actual articles are simpler, like you asked. But I won't do that, since I have a feeling you would just undo it.
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 21:39, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

There is no defence whatsoever for messaging someone, then messaging back again to demand a response. Nobody likes to be pestered, so your subsequent prompting came across as rude and made me less inclined to reply. Even when I explicitly stated what to do, you still came back at me for another response.
You also asked about changing page display to include a switch between a load screen and a map. What I haven't seen you discuss is the mechanics of how this would work. I'm going to assume you didn't mention that a switch was going to be added to all the location articles, so I'll give you the blunt version right here: Under no circumstances should you put the switches in the articles - they are far too complex for most editors, and therefore must stay on the template. --WarBlade (talk) 22:00, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I understand that urging someone to respond to a message may come across as rude, but so an admin not responding to an editor. I'm sorry, but I wanted some communication, so coming back to you after you telling me what to do, is only with that motive, to get some conversation going. I found that very hard to do here.

I also apologize about not fully explaining the Switch template, I should've put that in my blog. I can however, implement the Switch template into the infobox and have some more parameters, (possibly having a temporary error in the infobox again) and have it so anyone can put dual images into the infobox. Can you give me permission to do that?
BereisgreatShout!Wikia Star35px-Kuroko_chibi.png 22:20, August 8, 2013 (UTC)

Please do a test version first. Copy the location infobox template content to a new temporary template page and get your idea working on that so we can actually see it working. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:20, August 9, 2013 (UTC)
Alright, will do. I'll leave a message when I'm done.

Just a suggestion

I like to navigate between different types of guns when browsing the wiki, but I find it a little tedious to switch between pages for example all shotguns and all snipers.

I find the template at the bottom of all the gun pages (i.e. Submachine guns2) very useful to view all the guns in that class - however might I suggest adding another row at the bottom of the template for classes which link to the respective pages or template - something like this:

Pistols • Submachine guns • Shotguns • etc

This way it's very easy to switch in between different classes of weapons and I think some people will find it easiers when navigating. I did something similar of the Elder Scrolls wiki if you're not sure what I mean:

Jimeee (talk) 12:34, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

I stayed away from the weapon pages for the longest time, so I didn't really have much input into the structure of their navigation. I might toy around with your idea a bit. We also have Template:Navbox items which covers your idea to some extent, although that's a separate nav box (currently). -- WarBlade (talk) 12:45, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Stubs and Cleanup categories

Forgive if this totally a noob question, but i'm new to wikis in general, not just this one:

Could you tell me the basics on how an article that is in a 'stub' or 'cleanup' category, may be considered complete enough to be taken off said categories? I'd like to contribute any way I can by going through these articles like you suggest on your profile's 'How to help' section , but I'd like to be more familiar with this process first. Is it up to an admin to change the status of the articles after they're complete or should I just remove the category myself? I've been looking through these categories and have noticed some of these articles really don't require much work or seem complete enough already. Thanks Efpzero (talk) 07:00, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

Stubs are incomplete for some reason. Sometimes completing the article is simply a matter of supplying an image, or filling in a missing infobox data entry. Cleanup is requested for anything that fails to meet Borderlands Wiki standards. It isn't up to admins to remove the tag - anyone can do it - but please check thoroughly before removing one that might still have a reason to be there. -- WarBlade (talk) 07:11, August 20, 2013 (UTC)

'Deprecated infobox parameters' category?

I came across this category (I also just realized I don't know how to link to a category page) and I was wondering what 'parameters' it was refering to, as there are a few articles of shields in this category, i thought i'd change these to whatever should be the standard but I would need an example of what the standard currently should be. That is, if the category isn't just obsolete itself, which brings me to another question: I can add categories to articles, but I can't remove them, right? Or at least I can't seem to find a way to do it from neither the page or the editor, neither in source nor visual tab. Efpzero (talk) 06:28, August 21, 2013 (UTC)

Item infoboxes categorise based on the data that has been inputted in the infobox. Data fields that have been deprecated are:
 • damagetype
 • make
 • rarity color
 • type
So if those entries are removed, the deprecated infobox parameters category will disappear. -- WarBlade (talk) 06:51, August 21, 2013 (UTC)

Loot and rewards format

I have been playing with the look of the Assassinate the Assassins page, which I followed some of the format of the Creeper page. I would like to do the same with the Statuesque page and (eventually) every skin reward.

My question: It makes sense to put the reward pic table in its own section but I wanted to make sure on the format.

I did it on the statuesque page to clarify what I mean. Please let me know if that is right or put it in its proper place. Thanks.

Also, is there a master format guide to show what should go where on each page? If not, can you make one on a user page of yours for us? I know I could personally use one and I think consistency would be good for every editor. I have looked at the manual of style and style guide but there is not enough for the format of all these pages. Final signature.jpg 23:25, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I suppose I could cook something up. -- WarBlade (talk) 13:36, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Tyvm. I appreciate it. Final signature.jpg 19:19, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Have you noticed this?

Is it just me, or have a larger amount of people been trying to appeal their wiki bans from OTHER wikis over here? Such as one Foxi Hooves. Just asking to make sure I'm not going crazy. InfinitysCross (talk) 05:16, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Foxi Hooves should be using Community Central for that kind of message. -- WarBlade (talk) 05:48, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
We can't get involved in these situations, can we? InfinitysCross (talk) 05:51, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Question about MW

I was wondering why you haven't changed the message wall. Usually, the other one is better because it notifies the person with better notifications, and it saves the trouble of having to maunally add the topic line to your message. It also organizes your message on your wall into a better categorization.

Thanks for listening to me! :)

Talk pages are more cohesive to timelines and archiving. Just saying. Final signature.jpg 02:13, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
As far as I recall there hasn't been much (if any) demand for it here. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:13, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
