Question about Berrigan edits

Hi WarBlade,

I've made numerous update edits to some pre-sequel weapon pages in the past few days, as I've been doing some testing for veracity and hard numbers. You've made subsequent edits to most of them, which I'll admit upset me at first but after some thoUght I admit that most of them are reasonable cleanup edits.

However, I was surprised that you completely reverted my edits to the Berrigan without leaving any of my findings. I think that the fact that the Berrigan is significantly inferior to the Badaboom in nearly every way is worthy information for the wiki (since the weapons are so similar). So, I'd like to petition to have it in some form somewhere on the page. I can certainly understand relegating it to Notes or Trivia, but compared to your other edIts I was surprised that you reverted the Berrigan page with no trace of my information.

Thanks, and apologies for the tendency of some of my edits to include subjective commentary.

Sincerely, Amorra (talk) 07:59, January 1, 2017 (UTC)Amorra

Your edits to the usage and description content of the Berrigan were reverted because instead of being focussed specifically on the Berrigan, they were instead presenting a side-by-side comparison of two weapons, to the point where the Badaboom effectively had an equal share of the write up on an article that is supposed to be about the Berrigan. A better approach for the Berrigan article would be to just focus on how the Berrigan is used, and then in the notes maybe mention its shortcomings against the Badaboom.
I should elaborate on the former point. An article should ideally stand on its own. If you shape the information to be contingent on information presented in another article then you force the reader to review the other article to understand the comparison. We've had quite a few passages like that here in the past: "Item A is just like Item B, but has a larger magazine and inferior stability." The net result is that comparison bloat has had a negative effect on page content, so that's why it gets stripped out from time to time. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:44, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

Question about use of Talk pages

Despite the fact that I left my Berrigan message only a few hours ago, something mostly-unrelated occurred to me.

On the Skyrim wikia, many users use the Talk page of an article as a place to post more "subjective" content, such as secrets, shortcuts, strategies, observations, etc. I was thinking about your (extensive) reversion of my edits to the Absolute Zero, and it occurred to me that in the style of the Skyrim wikia, that commentary--which I feel was legitimate and potentially helpful analysis--might be more at home in the Talk page than on the actual article. To be clear, I understand and in retrospect could even agree with your removal--after all, it was opinion-based, even if I reached my opinion through careful analysis.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if such use of the Talk page is acceptable in this wiki, and if not, if there's any place where it would be accepted. I personally enjoy reading such commentary presented by others, and I'd at least like to think that one or two people somewhere might like to read mine.

Thanks once again,

Amorra (talk)Amorra

Yeah, the Talk pages are ideal for commentary. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:44, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Spelling

I didn't perform my recent edit to the Kaneda's Laser page to alter spelling--I did it because there was a run-on sentence that was, frankly, quite cringe-worthy. I understand that you seem to be hopelessly obsessed with your preferred version of spelling, but I actually improved the article before you decided to revert it so that you could support your own culture. Everything isn't about you and your version of english, WarBlade..

EDIT: I will, however, happily do my best to try not to alter the spelling when I DO make valid edits. THis time, it was because I deleted the whole run-on and re-wrote the sentence from scratch, so of COURSE I spelled the words the way I learned them.

Amorra (talk) 02:28, January 3, 2017 (UTC)Amorra

I couldn't resist the drama, so I reviewed WarBlade's controversial reversion. Here's your "audience": lighten up, Francis. Your edit was nugatory. Nothing of value was lost in its reversion. Dämmerung 04:57, January 3, 2017 (UTC)
Oh, well in that case my bad. I would have thought that a generally well-kept and informative wiki wouldn't want to have cringeworthy run-on sentences all over the place, But I could certainly be mistaken. The previous instance where an edit I made was reverted because of spelling triggers was on the Cry Baby, where I added what I would consider valid and relevant information (Mystic prefix only costs 1 ammo per shot despite have 2 additional listed projectiles). While I'm sure you'll respond that the game/weapon are not exactly relevant to 98% of players, and thus my edit was "nugatory" (congratz on your college vocabulary), you can't deny that I made a valid and contributive edit, which was reverted solely because somebody doesn't like the way I was taught to spell words.
I'll definitely admit that my initial paragraph above is a bit hotheaded abd contains some needlessly infantile parts, but surely you can understand that I was taken aback to see a page reverted to having run-on sentences because it annoyed a moderator that I spelled a word differently than he would.
Amorra (talk) 06:07, January 3, 2017 (UTC)Amorra
What you have described as a "bit hotheaded" is more like intentionally antagonistic. Please note that this wiki is a collaborative effort from many contributors of many nationalities. As such, we ask that you both be tolerant of various spelling standards, and that you don't try to troll anyone on talk pages.
You'll also find that wikis have a habit of attracting re-edits of your updates. Other contributors can, and will, change things mercilessly, sometimes even reverting updates entirely in cases where they veer away from the established standard or breach a policy. This is not something to get worked up over - it is simply a result of how articles get updated here. You will have to accept that when you publish content on the Borderlands Wiki. -- WarBlade (talk) 09:26, January 3, 2017 (UTC)

Categories for Images

Quite a few images I've uploaded over the last few weeks, IMO, fall into the "Screenshots" category. They are not, per se, "Images of Areas" or such so "Screenshots" seemed to me as appropriate category. While adding some images, I've noticed that all images tagged as "Scrrenshots" are being re-directed to "Candidates for deletion" category. This is, to say the least, confusing as "Scrrenshots" is a valid category according to Help for Image Categories. What's more, some of the images I've uploaded have been deleted because "invalid category" was provided? —Preceding unsigned comment added by SirFoggy (talkcontribs)

"Screenshots" is not a category, and hasn't been since about 2010 when it was deprecated. Anything miscategorised as such may be deleted at any time. The most immediate instructions for any image upload are on the upload page itself which states "Category:Images" - following that link will take you to a listing of appropriate categories. -- WarBlade (talk) 17:23, February 6, 2017 (UTC)
"Screenshots" was listed as a valid category in the relevant help file untill yesterday when, according to the page history,  it was removed by you. Therefore all the files with that tag uploaded before 17:19, February 6, 2017 should NOT be deleted. I, just like any other new contributor don't - and should not - know about some internal or informal decisions or changes in the rules; that's why we have the official Help files which should be kept up-to-date. Which would be, IMO, much less work than deleting all those "miscategorised" uploads.
What's more, on  July 7, 2016 in your reply to QueenFrau'squestion you said that "Screenshot" is the ideal choice for screenies you have taken yourself." So why is that any different for screenshots taken by myself or any other contributor? I'll remind you, if I may, that was on July 7, 2016.
Thanks. SirFoggy (talk) 22:12, February 7, 2017 (UTC)
  • Screenshots was inadvertently listed. The admin who added that to the help file was apparently reading off what other people had done and made a reactionary move, which in this case wound up being a mistake based on a couple of years of make-it-up-as-you-go problems (courtesy of the randomness of editors here).
  • The "Help" files are not necessarily up to date - there are still a couple of glaring problem ones. The one statement you were referring to was an oversight that has been there for years, and is now corrected.
  • The "screenshot" template that I was referring to in the discussion with QueenFrau is irrelevant to the categories used, which should be a subcategory of "Images", or just "Images" if a more appropriate subcategory is not available. -- WarBlade (talk) 18:55, February 10, 2017 (UTC)

Sorry for making a fuss

A couple months ago. I sincerely hope that there are no hard feelings. It was a very stressful time in my life, and I was trying to contribute to something greater than just myself, even if it's merely a video game wiki. So, I became needlessly aggressive and defensive when some of my edits were revised and/or reversed. Sorry about that.

No probs. :) -- WarBlade (talk) 05:06, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

Advice/review of Load 'n' Splode

Hi Warblade,

Recently, I was trying to make a Claptrap build, and I noticed that many of the pages for his skills are in great disrepair--in this case, Load 'n' Splode specifically. It was missing the skill rank table and some info, so what I did is I copied the source code from a similar skill page (Zero's Headsh0t, which also has only a single stat bonus to list) and altered the relevant values to fit the new page. Since this (combined with the notes I added to the page) is the first major page overhaul I've done, I would be interested in having you look at it and, if there's anything I missed, point it out to me. In particular, despite replacing what I understood to be the page link part (of the source code) with the "Loose Cannon" class mod name, it did not succesfully link to a page, even though a page DOES exist for that COM. I do not understand why or what the issue is, and I'm interested to know. (provided you have time and are so inclined)

As a side note, I found myself (ironically) removing an assertion about how "best" to use a gun when clarifying and adding information to weapon descriptions last night, something I recall you having to do to my edits in the past.

EDIT: I also don't know how to make and link new pages, which is relevant because some Pre-Sequel skills and class mods do not have pages. Although I'm aware that tutorials exist, I'm apprehensive about trying to make them myself, as I'm quite worried I'd get confussed or mess it up. Thus, I'm not sure what to do about those.

In any case, happy editing! Amorra (talk) 23:47, February 13, 2017 (UTC)Amorra

The Loose Cannon link wasn't working because it was targetted to Loose Cannon (class mod) instead of just Loose Cannon. The "(class mod)" part would only be necessary if there was something else in the game also known as "Loose Cannon" in which case each Loose Cannon would have text in parenthesis to distinguish them from each other.
Re: side note, good call, but perhaps take a look at the text you wrote for the Company Man shotgun and ask yourself how relevant the Pullpup and Viral Marketer commentary is for an article specifically about the Company Man. ;)
About new pages and links, that will come with time. The tutorials should help a bit, but otherwise following a red link will take you to a blank page ready to edit. In such cases, it is best to check that the new page is being developed under the correct name - your red link to Loose Cannon (class mod) is a suitable case example of what not to follow to create a new page. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:17, February 14, 2017 (UTC)
Looking at it again, I do see what you mean about the Company Man; my rational was that the "meta" position of the weapon would be reasonable information, but the "meta" is inherently subjective, so the more I think about the more I see where you're coming from. Thanks for pointing that out! (also thanks for the explanation of the link :P ) -- Amorra (talk) 01:21, February 15, 2017 (UTC)Amorra

Lyuda page title issue (??)

For some reason, the Lyuda's page is titled "Lyudmila" and the intro blurb claims that it is "sometimes referred to as the Lyuda." I'm aware that the real-world sniper referenced by the gun was named Lyudmila, but I can assure you that the weapon itself, in the video game Borderlands 2, is called the LYUDA. It is not "referred to as" the 'Lyuda,' it IS the 'Lyuda," both on every weapon card you will ever see and in the very code of the game. I would also question the logic having the caption for the image on the ENGLISH wiki page be a russian phrase, but that's somewhat inconsequential.

I considered changing the title myself, but since that's a rather significan change, I wanted to ask you abut it first you and/or other mods about it first. If there is some legitimate reason for having the page titled Lyudmila despite that not being the name of the gun, I'm open to hearing it, but it seemed rather silly to me.

Amorra (talk) 01:00, February 27, 2017 (UTC)Amorra

There's a section called "Title?" on Talk:Lyudmila. Feel free to unravel the truth. -- WarBlade (talk) 08:58, February 27, 2017 (UTC)
Believe it or not, I actually DID look at the talk page, but after reading about half of the entire thing I got distracted >-> I've now read the whole thing.
So then on the xbox 1 SPECIFICALLY it's now the Lyudmila, while (as far as I can tell) even on xbox 360 it is still the White Death? This is some nonsense if I ever heard it xD
Since it appears that most players will see it as "Lyuda," and more importantly it is referred to in common parlance as simply "the Lyuda," I would still petition to have it changed; your response is vague enough that I remain unwilling to do it straightforth Amorra (talk) 11:58, February 28, 2017 (UTC)Amorra
Yeah, it's awkward. I recall seeing the change from Lyuda to Lyudmila and thinking at the time it looked like a minefield of disputed information. I let it slide seeing as it looked like a legitimate name update, but the usual wiki convention of using a more common name has me leaning back to Lyuda. I suggest discussing the matter with other gun article editors though. Someone might have more information that could be worth weighing in. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:19, March 2, 2017 (UTC)
SirFoggy seems to have decent evidence that at least 50% of the platforms BL2 is available on now display as "Lyudmila," and he also pointed out that the games files list the material and unique barrel as "Lyudmila." Mostly on the grounds of that last part, I've begrudgingly accepted the Lyudmila title. As someone who reads/watches a lot of Bl2 forums/videos, it grates on my brain (partial hyperbole), but SirFoggy has presented the facts (in the Lyud..mila... talk page), and they suppport the current title. Amorra (talk) 19:48, March 2, 2017 (UTC)Amorra
Okay, cool. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:52, March 3, 2017 (UTC)
I just want to add more here: when I was making edits in russian page for this weapon, around June 30 (which means game has latest patch), I farmed it to confirm the title and I've got "Lyuda" (I'm playing English version, PC), but it seems like in Russian version (which is "separate" game, with regional limitation in co-op play and edited-for-translation textures) the title wasn't properly updated and now instead of Russian "Maxim" it shows "Lyuda" too (screenshot, February 16).

Borderlands 2 mission flow reversion

Hi warblade. Wanted to ask why my edits on mission flow for borderlands 2 was reverted? Please advise.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeaserstrife (talkcontribs)

Too many errors. I started trying to fix the mess you made, then gave up and rolled it back. If you would like to contribute to the Borderlands Wiki please keep to formal English, and try to be consistent with the existing content on this wiki, thanks. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:40, March 11, 2017 (UTC)
Attempt to respond #2: Sand box editing is bad form. Please stop immediately, especially with user talk pages. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:40, March 11, 2017 (UTC)

Start of Page Header Test

Hey WarBlade!

The next stage of our Wiki Modernization project is to test the page and article headers, which you can read about here. We'll begin running this test on Thursday this week.

Like we said in the blog, here's what we'll be looking at in the test:

How do readers interact with the new headers? We'll look at the number of clicks on header links, as well as how many people use the new headers vs the old ones. What do editors think of the new design? We'll gather feedback and interaction data from you, ask follow-up questions, and do our best to understand your needs. We want a design that works well for everyone.

We want help from you and your community in figuring out if we got it right or what potential areas for improvement might be. Feel free to comment on both the reader and editor side of the header designs. We especially want to know what you think as an editor. Please leave any feedback for me here on this thread.

You are also welcome to share this information with your community, that way they are aware of the changes that have been made. Springteufel (talk) 20:27, March 20, 2017 (UTC)

Problem creating pages

If I try to create a page for Suicide Psycho, notice "page Suicide Psycho already exists" pops out. And indeed, if I place mouse pointer on the "Suicide Psycho" part in the notice window it shows link.

If followed, that link leads to but w/o redirecting notice.

Looking at Psycho (borderlands 2) page code this should not be happening. Entries for Suicide Psycho, Slagged Psycho and Gravedigger look exactly the same. Why was I able to create pages for Chubby Midget, Gravedigger, Loot Midget Psycho and Slagged Psycho but not for Badass Psycho, Burning Psycho or Suicide Psycho? The only way to create them is to add (Borderlands 2) to the page name which should not be the case.

What or where is the problem here?   SirFoggy (talk) 04:08, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

Staff are currently using the Borderlands Wiki as a test case for the placement and display of advertising, page headers, and more. You'll notice that the title is currently preceded by a collection of categories, and that has caused the omission of the the redirect notice. You can bypass this problem by adding ?redirect=no in the address bar of your browser to the end of the URL, eg.

Sorry for the confusion. On the bright side this provides some valuable feedback for the test. Thanks for that. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:07, March 24, 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply but I don't think this has anything to do with the changes being tested. Looking at edit history of the pages in question, it is easy to see why. For the Suicide Psycho page, back in April 2013, Razldazlchick replaced the existing content of the page with this line:
::#REDIRECT [[Psycho#Borderlands 2]]
In 2010, D1G did the same for Burning Psycho and Badass Psycho pages. And, I guess, those are not the only pages with hard-coded redirects.
As for the page title being preceded by a collection of categories ... IMO, that "feature" is entirely redundant as there's category template already present at bottom of the pages.
I generally do like the new page top header (or whatever the name for it might be) but there's one thing that but there's one minor thing I find ... lacking. If I go to page history, "Back to page" link at the top of the page is no longer there. Clicking "Back" in my browser is easy enough having "Back to page" link is more intuitive and user friendly and doesn't "cost" all that much.
Oh, and .. could you please delete Burning Psycho (Borderlands 2) and Badass Psycho (Borderlands 2) pages as they are  now redundant? Thanks.

Reverted Edits

Dear Warblade,

I modified the Fabled Tortoise page a few days back; my changes were reverted. Could you tell the reason? Is it about the content or about the style?

SuNo12113 (talk) 08:12, April 25, 2017 (UTC)

You may have noticed that there's a "clean up" tag at the top of the page citing the bloated Notes section as the reason for the tag. This means it is preferable to actually trim, or otherwise edit the content into a a more suitable article format, than to increase the problem in the problem area itself. Aside from that, reduced jump distances are fairly implicit where movement speed is altered, and the part about jump height where it "seems" to be affected is not really the direction that an authoritative information source should be taking. We advocate certainties rather than speculation. -- WarBlade (talk) 09:42, April 25, 2017 (UTC)
Insertion of facts is not exactly problematic, however, the new edit was rather lengthy. Just the fact that movement speed reduces jump distance is statement enough.
Note to Warblade: implicit information is not really the direction as well, imho
I have done some clean up of the page and incorporated a more concise edit.
P.S. I am unsure of the note "The shield's reduced health characteristic is removed from its item card, although the health penalty is nevertheless applied."
does that mean while equipped? I haven't played in a while. Final signature 00:58, May 3, 2017 (UTC)
Actually, the "insertion of facts" is very problematic in this case because most of the this excuse for an article is just a bloated Notes section. Notes are nothing but a collection of one-sentence additions to body content, and the page has no body. The tag at the top is there for a reason guys. Fix it, or leave it, but if this tweaking of the notes continues I'll just delete the entire page. -- WarBlade (talk) 14:01, May 3, 2017 (UTC)
Ahh, I just jumped on to maintain the Skins pages (as promised). I didn't have time to re-work the entire page. I figured it would help to be more precise on what EDIT: was there.
As far as deletion goes, that is up to you... you can always re-create the page when you get time. I, personally, would just delete the bits that don't fit the format for a reference in the re-creation process. There are a heap of facts on the page, it would be counter productive to destroy them entirely, imho (excuses aside). Final signature 09:52, May 5, 2017 (UTC)
Which is exactly the dilemma. -- WarBlade (talk) 10:00, May 5, 2017 (UTC)
If I get time, I will concentrate on that page. Any more that bad? You can list them here or on my talk.Final signature 20:22, May 5, 2017 (UTC)
First list of many! -- WarBlade (talk) 03:20, May 6, 2017 (UTC)
LoL, thanks... I mean sans-format. If you run into some, put them on my talk and I will check them out. Also, could you list the best formatted page (as a goal), when you run across a good example.
Either way, it will be a while. If you throw some on my talk (when you encounter some), it will help take research time out.
I recently received "Borderlands ruined my life" (or some such name) package that gave me all BL franchise games that I didn't own already for like $6. I plan to start again on BL1 for fun. P.S. Tell Tale is not really that good. Final signature 13:54, May 6, 2017 (UTC)

Confusion of deletion

Dear Warblade,

Hello. I am new to the editing and/or creation of articles. I have copied the notice to the article I tried to create. I don't understand at all why it was deleted. I understand it was a stub, I don't know how to apply notices like that. I ask that you state your intentions on deleting the page "The Change Of The Modes".

hopeful misunderstandings,

DoomBox12 (talk) 22:45, May 4, 2017 (UTC)

It was deleted primarily because it wasn't an article. It was also an empty placeholder, had a non-viable name, and as a concept resembled the kind of thing categories are used for. We already document the effects of game mode changes on relevant articles, so there is little to be gained from duplicating that information on another page. -- WarBlade (talk) 01:29, May 5, 2017 (UTC)

Message understood. DoomBox12 (talk) 01:43, May 7, 2017 (UTC)

BL1 Location (areas) and Chest Location pages

There are two things I would like to discuss here: articles for the areas (locations) and Chest Location articles.

On the location page, Infobox image should either be of a panoramic view characteristic for the area or the area intro pic. Area intro pictures might not be as flashy but they would set a standard while avoiding potential my screenshot of the area is better kind of situation. Frost Bottom  page is an example of what I have in mind. At the same time, map of a location should be as clean as possible (not a simple screenshot), containing all the relevant info such as transition points, named locations (if any), location and type of weapon chests, etc. If done this way, just one map file can be used in multiple instances such as location article page, chests location page, and so on. Most of the existing map files are simple screenshots or contain incomplete and sometimes outdated or incorrect info.

Chest Location articles are another issue. There are simply way too many "maps" and slide-shows just to explain how to get to a chest. I would be willing to go through all the pages editing and correcting the info where needed or appropriate. This, unfortunately, would create quite a lot of "collateral damage" in terms of redundant images or those that are not really needed. Uploading a new and up-to-date version of a map replaces the original one in the article but leaves it as an orphaned file.

If we do go down this route, I could provide you with a complete list of files to be removed.

Oh, and all this is about Borderlands 1 although I see the same "problem" with BL2, BLTPS and the DLCs.

On a related note, I've uploaded some maps and made some mistakes while doing so. Could you please remove all but the most recent versions of and ?

Thought, ideas, rants and cold beer welcome :-)

SirFoggy (talk) 12:06, July 17, 2017 (UTC)

I actually like the unedited maps personally, although annotated maps also have some value. As for the chest locations, the zeal with which contributors continued the practice of implementing those after Borderlands illustrates just how much effort people were prepared to put into them - not a lot. I largely ignored them myself. Do you think it would be practical to integrate the information into location articles? -- WarBlade (talk) 12:19, July 18, 2017 (UTC)
Some location articles are already fairly large, almost to the point of being too large; Arid Badlands is a good example. Integrating chests info into already hefty page would make it overbloated if not unreadable. About the only way I see this being done, but not over-done, would be inclusion of Weapon Chests section with minimal textual info (something like "there's a total of X weapon chests in this location, Z of which are White chests, and Y Red Chests") complemented with a video guide.
SirFoggy (talk) 12:57, July 18, 2017 (UTC)
I think there will be enough detailed maps with the location of the chests in location articles. This maps can perfectly replace empty maps in locations articles. Detailed information and all media are more reasonable to render in the sub-article with the posting of link on it in the main article. Reason: it is unlikely that most players will play Borderlands 2/ Pre-Sequel only for the sake of finding chests. -- sega010 (talk) __:__ July 18, 2017 (UTC)

Incorrect categories added

I'va managed to add incorrect categories while adding categories to some of the Skill Tree pages, no idea how but I did. Could you please change those from Items in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel?

Thanks.  SirFoggy (talk) 22:39, August 1, 2017 (UTC)

I'm looking for a needle in a haystack it seems. You've done numerous edits to skill pages, and I haven't spotted which page is the one needing attention. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:35, August 4, 2017 (UTC)
ooops! Sorry about that. I see you took care of some of them already, here's the list of the reamining ones:
The Huntress
Cold Money
Contractual Aristocracy
Thanks.  SirFoggy (talk) 23:10, August 4, 2017 (UTC)

Discussions + Other Things

Hi WarBlade,

It's been awhile since I last reached to you. I noticed you've been the most active bcrat these days and I'm unsure if you're still in contact with Dr. Clayton, among others.

I wanted to share a proposal/idea with you in regards to the Discussions feature.

In case you are unaware of the feature, Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. Discussions also links with our FANDOM Apps, which this community has and it allows app users to easily take part in Discussions as well. You can read more about Discussions here

If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. There is NO plans for discussions to replace Forum:Index.

Feel free to have an open discussion with your community about this, and I'm available for any questions you might have.

Also, since this community already has a FANDOM app, enabling discussions on this community will also add a huge feature to the app itself. Users on their phones can start threads, make posts, and discuss topics with desktop users and vice versa.

One last thing -- the game guides ad in the right rail is a bit dated. Would you mind if i updated it with the Borderlands app? I would use this imageand then incorporate apple/google download links below it.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Knakveey (talk) 19:09, December 14, 2017 (UTC)

Yes, no problem contacting him. I'll notify him of your message.
Regarding Discussions, as a councilor I became aware of it early on although as someone who has had limited interest in chat and a dislike of article comments, I haven't really felt a strong pull to jump on board with yet another community communication feature. I've seen various features either discussed or pushed live, and to me article talk pages still provide the optimal communication platform for wiki content discussion.
I'm not against Discussions at all. I'm more inclined to just shrug and go along with what the community decides.
As for the right rail thing, I have no objection. --WarBlade (talk) 07:46, December 15, 2017 (UTC)

i can see how youd have shaky thoughts about contactin' olde doc fo'estor. clay hes an ornery cuss. but talking straight just for the moment here you, being staff, do not need the acquiescence of the wiki (or its administrators) to change anything. we all (those of us not living sublitho) can see the push for mobile. adding a discussions namspace to the wiki is something i dont see anyone having grounds to object to. the forums have been pushed into the shadows so long ago i am sure most users could not find forum namespace w/ a link embedded. it would seem only fair to replace it w/ (anything) discussions namespace (even though i disagree with your distinction that communities, users and fanatics are different things). and by all means change what you will in the game guides. that was not a borderlands wiki creation.

Skag Riders, Skag Rustlers, etc

Was going through these pages, and after double-checking the in-game names, confirmed that all these titles (names) are incorrect. Skag Rustler is type of a skag, not of a midget riding it; Midget Rustler is correct name for the rider. Skag Rider, and alike, should be in the Skag group, not the Midgets.

Most players will find this of little importance but to have the facts straight it should be corrected. Or, leave it as it is and make clear what is what in the description? --SirFoggy (talk) 18:30, December 19, 2017 (UTC)

I think it's fine as is. Names like "rider" would suggest the midget riding the skag, so if we try to move all those into the skag group we'll be setting up a big point of confusion and a magnet for edit wars. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:46, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
Thought so. When I find some time, I'll try and figure out a small note about the riders having their own name. --SirFoggy (talk) 18:51, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
I agree with WarBlade, 'Skag Rider' is the one who goes on a skag, and not vice versa. But I think it's necessary to make Note in the articles for the hotheads who consider it their duty to fill the articles with data from the game files. For example: "A Skag Rider in the game files is written as an enemy of the skag type, though...". -- Sega010 (talk) 21:20, December 24, 2017 (UTC)

Out of date ?

Hi I was looking at some pages and found the MINAC page looks like the voice clips are out of date and I don't have that dlc and even if I did I could not extract the lines as I don't play on PC. I wanted to point it out as it seems strange for it to have left on a page and I did not want to remove it as the codeing may be off and be repaired.

GruffKibbles89 (talk) 13:18, May 4, 2018 (UTC)

Voice clips? -- WarBlade (talk) 20:33, May 9, 2018 (UTC)

Ya the page has 4 of them. Example:

"How do YOU like target practice? Huh? HUH?!"

  • Voice clip: "Oh yeah? Well how do YOU like target practice? Huh? HUH?!"

    GruffKibbles89 (talk) 11:42, May 10, 2018 (UTC)

I had to stare at those a bit to see your point. The page appears to document both the voice and text, and the "voice clip" parts look like situations where the dialogue and the accompanying text differ slightly. Are you suggesting that the text has been updated to match the voice actor's performance? -- WarBlade (talk) 03:19, May 11, 2018 (UTC)

I don't know if it was a out of date voice clip code that is no longer supported by the wikia and wanted to bringn it to your attention so if it was out of date way for voice clips it could be corrected.

Thanks for the message, and I noticed your change to my first update and realised I hadn't actually checked style rules and so on so went through the policies (and then parts of your talk page where I saw you discussing them)

The concept made complete sense to me even before I'd read the policies as it's not uncommon to reference things from an 'In Character / World' vs player perspective, but I was too busy going "hey yeah yeah there's a tiny detail missing!".

I'll keep the wording and sentence strucure in mind for the future. Hope to help if there's more things I find.

Lady Fist and The Bee

Hey WarBlade,

I was about to add a note to the Lady Fist page about its synergy with The Bee, but on the history page noticed that you removed such a note just a few months ago because "The Bee ramps up most weapons - no need to repeat on multiple weapon pages".

Thing is, the Lady Fist has insane synergy with the Bee way beyond any other weapon. On critical hits, a Jakobs sniper rifle will multiply amp damage by 5.6x, a Lady Fist by 18x. Gunzerking with two Lady Fists raises that to 34x--before adding slag and elemental multipliers which can further raise it way beyond.

This adds up to some of the most ridiculous damage in the game. According to my calculations, Critical Ascensi0n needs 107 stacks to reach 18x amp damage on crits--with the Lady Fist, any character gets that on first hit without any skills. I think that deserves a little note. I'd like to add one, but of course wanted to discuss it here to avoid deletion.

Likewise, I wanted to add crucial information on the Bee page regarding its interaction with crit and elemental multipliers, but that page is locked. It is mentioned on the Amp Shield page (well, elemental damage only since today as I just added it), but I think it shouldn't be necessary to look up related pages to find out about information that's so important for The Bee. One or two little notes should be useful for anyone looking up their Bee.

Is there any way to add a note there? Or can I send the source text for the note I was trying to add to you or someone else, for review and possible addition?

Best regards

Peacemon (talk) 13:50, February 2, 2019 (UTC)

We do not need to reopen the flood gate of information on how awesome that particular shield is when paired with the vast majority of weapons in the game. Trust me when I point out that what you describe as one or two notes is actually just the first couple of drops in a flood of hyperbole that quickly turns that article into a huge pile of junk. -- WarBlade (talk) 02:20, February 3, 2019 (UTC)

Hellfire v. HellFire

Why were all my changes on the HellFire page completely reverted? I don't see how HellFire is the correct name.

NaeRolls (talk) 21:53, February 12, 2019 (UTC)

Consider the reading the name card very carefully before deciding something is wrong. "HellFire" is the correct title of this item, and your careless change was creating a cascade of linking problems, never mind the breach in etiquette from not bothering to discuss such a sweeping change with anyone before actually pushing it through. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:59, February 12, 2019 (UTC)
SMG Maliwan Hellfire (Inspect View)
Thus, we have the correct article on the wiki with the wrong image in the infobox (image is attached). There is at least one video which is a fact confirming the change of the name of this weapon. Here is a link to this video, which was made in 2016: . -- Best regards, Sega010 (talk) 23:40, February 12, 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, plenty to get to the bottom of (aside from the unnecessary image update in July 2017). This should be discussed. Is it a Borderlands 2 change, a Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel distinction, or an update covering both? Because right now the defining data is all on the variants subpage, and the information there might well be due for an extensive update. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:51, February 13, 2019 (UTC)
I am sure this is a revision update of the Borderlands 2. (Such changes took place with some weapons in the official Steam-version of the Borderlands 2 with Russian localization.) The video is proof. To check the fact of the name change, you must install and update the game through the Steam client, to the latest version. And take screenshots of this weapon. -- Best regards, Sega010 (talk) 15:26, February 13, 2019 (UTC).

Borderlands 3

What information am I allowed to edit/add for the upcoming game? What I added so far is speculations from the trailer which was removed, while I see other speculations and unconfirmed information still on the wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JOHEEEN (talkcontribs)

Please don't add speculation. At the moment there is very little to go on, so not much is worth trying to document at this time. We have a few character names, a rough idea of playable characters, and not much else. -- WarBlade (talk) 09:04, March 30, 2019 (UTC)
I'm with WarBlade in that there really isn't enough actual information that's not speculation to document it. We should be getting more information, so I'd hold off until we receive that information and can reference the source(s) that are not fan theories. Fans have already been wrong about how the new siren looks; imagine how that would look if we included it here? I could see adding the trailer, but speculations should be limited to talk pages and not articles. --Gulfwulf (talk) 09:42, March 30, 2019 (UTC)

Hey there Badass Vault Hunter.

I'm a new vault hunter that was still fighting TVHM and is attempting to get to The Bunker and fight the BNK-3R, still stuck at Thousand Cuts.

Had a question here: Is that WKPQ guy a secondary account of an admin on this wiki, or he's just here to screw up, or I'm the one's screwing up? He undoes every edit I made and I think you might know an explanation (If you monitored the wiki recently) for this.

SUPER4geditTANK (talk) 15:37, March 30, 2019 (UTC)

That account has no admin privileges. I've seen many of these reverts you mention, and in most cases I support the revert. Take for example this one where you hypothesised what might happen if Madame Von Bartlesby were to evolve. There was an existing valid point and you appended a theory to it - a situation that does not happen in the game. Please note that on the Borderlands Wiki we document the content of the Borderlands games, and we do not document speculation of any kind. We also try to avoid subjectivity in articles. Does that make sense? -- WarBlade (talk) 21:20, March 30, 2019 (UTC)

Best practices for back-to-back edits

Hi WarBlade,

I have intentions to add variants of gear and weapons, such as the Hornet variant chart. What's best practice for adding multiple entries over a period of time?

  • Suppose I add a few entries today and in a couple of weeks I want to add more entries. I am the most recent editor of the page. Do I add another edit and my edit becomes another entry in the history?
    • What should I do if I make the most recent edits back-to-back? Ex: today an edit, two weeks later an edit, a third edit sometime later. Do I continue adding edits or revert to the first edit and make one large edit that includes the second and third edits?

Since I'm new here, I was testing to make sure I was doing OK. However, I have 3 edits back-to-back but would rather have one edit show as mine. I do not wish to clutter the history page so this is why I'm inquiring about best practices.

JumpingBamboo (talk) 19:09, March 31, 2019 (UTC)

Seperations of weeks are fine if you have something important to add. Please note that the weapon variants are already comprehensive and may not need much updating to demonstrate the diversity of different guns. Some people have tried to push the "most powerful" in the past, and that's not really helpful for the wiki - there's a much stronger case for an even spread from low level gear to high. Also worth considering is if a page is alreay long, does it need to get any longer? -- WarBlade (talk) 19:47, March 31, 2019 (UTC)
Seems fair. I'll keep in mind the length of the article when considering adding variants. I figured a 10-level spread is pretty big, which is why I wanted to add entries. Perhaps a 5- or 4-level difference from one variant to the next is good enough. JumpingBamboo (talk) 19:58, March 31, 2019 (UTC)

Borderlands Online

Hei. Just a question about the Polaris article. Was it redirected because it was too short, or since it's from the cancelled game and it would be non-conon, thus irrelevant? I could lengthen the page a bit, I have since found an image of their gun and a bit better company logo. There is also the Star Ship Eclipse stage that takes place on the Polaris starship, and two NPCs interact with the player there.--KillerZ (talk) 12:45, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

Everything about Borderlands Online is vapourware and can therefore be compiled on the one article. And yes, the Polaris article was way too short. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:11, April 3, 2019 (UTC)
Right. Thought that was the case. Thanks for explaining.--KillerZ (talk) 22:03, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

Main page

Hello, I'm working with/assisting some members of the Wikia Staff and they are currently interested in updating the main page with the information release about Borderlands 3. They want to keep the basic look of the wiki as it it, but they'd also like to use some introduction text to better suit SEO needs and introduce new users to the wiki. We've worked on some proposed changes that you can see here. Would you be ok with us enabling some of these changes? - Wagnike2 (talk) 20:10, April 4, 2019 (UTC)

I like the direction you're headed in. The main page has been getting quite cluttered with image-heavy linking for a while now, and while that was fine for the first game or two back in the day it definitely looks overdue for review in the here and now.
Theme-wise (and I acknowledge you point out a plan to retain the status quo) the other admins and I batted around a few comments in recent days where three of us indicated we like the white-on-black background text, but also weren't attached to the orange theming. A couple of the stray thoughts ventured were "we could benefit from bringing some bold reds and yellows to the design" (from me), and it "would be cool if we could get some kind of cell shading aesthetic" from MadCrayolaz. Re-working the theme is just a food for thought position at the moment though.
Lastly, my opinion does not represent the will of the majority. I'll relay this to the others and see what opinions result. :) -- WarBlade (talk) 04:54, April 5, 2019 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. Let me know how your plans keep developing. - Wagnike2 (talk) 16:45, April 5, 2019 (UTC)
A few days down the track and the feedback I've seen suggests we are fine with moving forward with your proposed update. There was also one idea razldazlchick ventured about having a slider showcasing the various main games. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:00, April 8, 2019 (UTC)
I'd like to see a brief background on the series and have a condensed navigational bar. As WarBlade previously mentioned a slider showcasing the different games would also be nice. Razldazlchick 04:19, April 9, 2019 (UTC)

Hawk Eye and The Bee

You removed a reference to the Bee on the Hawk Eye page; I think that, while most pages don't need that reference, it should be kept on pages for items which work especially well with it, like the Sandhawk, the Unkempt Harold, and the Hawk Eye.

Especially because the Hawkeye gets a substantially larger benefit from the shield than other guns do, and since the Hawkeye is almost universally inferior to other weapons when not using it.

You also reverted the page to one that incorrectly states that the Hawk Eye functions well with Zer0; that's explicitly false, as the gun works very poorly with zer0, and much better with virtually any other character.

DemiserofD (talk) 19:32, April 25, 2019 (UTC)

Back in 2009 we had this problem with the Hellfire. A large percentage of the so-called "strategies" suggested equipping that one weapon, which to put it bluntly isn't a strategy - it's a shopping list. Then in 2012 along comes the Bee and suddenly everyone wants to plaster the Bee information on every other weapon article. The shield is useful - we can all see that - but highlighting that usefulness again and again repeatedly all over the wiki only ever served to detract from all those other articles where the subject was not the Bee. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:22, April 26, 2019 (UTC)

Joining forces with the Gamepedia Borderlands wiki

Hey WarBlade,

You probably know that there is another Borderlands Wiki over at Gamepedia, and perhaps you also know that Fandom and Gamepedia recently joined forces.

What do you think about combining the two wikis, so that visitors and editors have one place to go, instead of two competing wikis? In the very long run, the two platforms will become one anyway. This wiki here has more pages, is much more actively edited and ranks higher on Google, so we'd archive the Gamepedia wiki and redirect users from there to here. Any content they might have that you're still missing can be transferred over - we'd leave that for you to judge, since the community would know best what you could use from over at the other wiki, if anything.

We've put up a public debate at the other wiki so the active users there (if there are any) can weigh in on the decision. If they're okay with it and you are, too, then we'd love to merge the two wikis in about two weeks! Mira Laime @fandom  (help forum | blog) 23:18, May 2, 2019 (UTC)

Hi Mira,
After forwarding this to the other admins here there were no objections. The question was raised about the integration of the admins there, but both happypal and Nagamarky are already part of our admin team here (although happy hasn't been active in a long while), so I see no problem there either.
On a more personal note, I do like the theme there (currently a Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel background). I expect Borderlands 3 will present us with an opportunity to update our old rusty orange scheme and maybe make use of the bold primary colours we've become used to with the Borderlands series, so there's that to bat around as food for thought too. -- WarBlade (talk) 07:38, May 4, 2019 (UTC)
I like that idea! Let me know if Fandom can help in any way with your theme revamp :) Mira Laime @fandom  (help forum | blog) 22:51, May 7, 2019 (UTC)

Template Loops

I was looking through the Jakobs weapons in TPS and somehow caused a template loop from adding the Jakobs navbox for pages that didn't have it. Every page and navbox for weapons now have that loop, even on those that I haven't edited.

Is there a solution to this?

WKPQ (talk) 16:09, May 20, 2019 (UTC)

You can ignore my question if need be. The loop now seems to be fixed.

WKPQ (talk) 18:18, May 20, 2019 (UTC)

TPS Badaboom

Would the Badaboom in TPS warrant a separate page from the BL2 version? It's made by a different brand and has a different skin. WKPQ (talk) 16:12, May 21, 2019 (UTC)

I went and had a look at the variants subpage and was surprised that there don't appear to be any Pre-Sequel variants listed. If you have access to an example of the Pre-Sequel version, that would be a good start. Also, is the Pre-Sequel manufacturer "Scav" by any chance? -- WarBlade (talk) 12:39, May 22, 2019 (UTC)
Yes, the manufacturer is Scav in TPS. I don't have a TPS version but I can make the main page for it. WKPQ (talk) 12:57, May 22, 2019 (UTC)
In that case, no, scav manufactured weapons are just the Pre-Sequel flipside of bandit weapons. But the variants page is still ideal for documenting the scav version. -- WarBlade (talk) 13:55, May 22, 2019 (UTC)
Ok & thanks. What are the guidelines for posting on the variant page and would gibbed BL2 & TPS weapons be allowed on variant pages? WKPQ (talk) 14:06, May 22, 2019 (UTC)
We have a good example of the Variant Chart page with the documentation of the TPS variants of weapons: Maggie/Variant Chart. -- Sega010 (talk) 16:23, May 22, 2019 (UTC)

The boombringer is an essential part of the borderlands 2 main quest and is much more than an immobile target. May I remind you that it is “Mortars prizes buzzard” (as according to the dialogue). This clearly proves it’s significance in the overall plot of the game and evidently requires its own page on the wiki.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sturg69 (talkcontribs)

Firstly, please sign your talk page edits. As far as Boombringer is concerned, mission objects are handled within the mission articles. There is no reason to make a page for something that can be adequately noted in three sentences or so. Thanks. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:18, June 11, 2019 (UTC)

Old OP level items

Should we change all the old OP1-OP8 item levels in variant charts to 73-80? Torgue (talk) 16:27, June 14, 2019 (UTC)

I've put this to other admins and moderators with a high interest in the weapon articles than I have and so far the subject has been met with a bit of head-scratching. Nobody seems to be sure about what to do with the OP1-OP8 gear yet. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:59, June 29, 2019 (UTC)
Would it be acceptable to change the level to the current cap and place OP levels in parentheses? Ex: Old OP8 is changed to level "80 (OP8)" on the chart. This maintains the old OP standard while emphasizing the new level cap. -- JumpingBamboo (talk) 19:29, July 23, 2019 (UTC)

Uranus Loot

Hé WarBlade,

I'm a new contributor to this Wiki and I was wondering, since Uranus seems to have a massive loot pool, will mention of this be necessary on each of these items' (Badaboom, Conference Call, Emperor, etc. etc. etc.) pages? Currently doesn't seem to be there.

Also, will this massive loot pool need to be added to the Uranus page?

JanPaulV (talk) 11:23, June 20, 2019 (UTC)

It may well be justified on the Uranus article in the Notes section. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:59, June 29, 2019 (UTC)

Effervescent category

I was trying to update weapons & gear tables with Effervescent category and items but, although everything looks OK in the edit mode, the whole category does not show up when changes are saved. Also, Infoboxes show Effervescent rarity as a plain text. Could you, or any other Mod/Admin on here, look into this? Thanks. --SirFoggy (talk) 17:17, June 20, 2019 (UTC)

Infobox weapon2 was set up with a curiousity of sorts in the automatic generation of that category. It needs the weapon colour to be present for the rarity category to appear. I don't know why the template was structured like that - there might be some edge case that could break a number of pages if I strip out that requirement, so I've left it in place for the moment. But I've proposed to the other admins and content moderators that the term "Effervescent" could be used in the colour section, which was about the best colour substitute I could think of. Doing that will cause the effervescent category to appear when "Effervescent" is listed in "Rarity." -- WarBlade (talk) 20:59, June 29, 2019 (UTC)

I've been tasked to convert some of your non-portable infoboxes on your Wiki to portable ones. There are a few infoboxes with complex code that I'm trying to see if I can find someone who can convert them properly.

Just letting you know if you see deleted draft's, etc.

Have a good one. o7

FL4K Gender

here's Fl4k's nonbinary pin on their jacket. not only is the binary code ruled out but the BG is also the nonbinary pride flag. no reason to delete their gender from the profile page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fazikku (talkcontribs)

This is something to mention on Talk:FL4K. I know the article has suffered some back and forth editing on FL4K's gender (or lack thereof), so please contribute to the discussion there so the community can reach a solid concensus. Thanks. -- WarBlade (talk) 20:59, June 29, 2019 (UTC)

Where to post ring pics?

Hey there!  I'd love to know where I should post to promote my Borderlands Cult of the Vault rings. I don't want to be rude and post all over someone's thread. I just want to share these if anyone wants one made. I love the game but I'm not a big online user or blogger so I thought it best to check first.

Thank you for your responce.  Asbestosfriend (talk) 23:17, July 9, 2019 (UTC)Asbestosfriend

Definitely not on the Borderlands Wiki. For the most part self promotion, or using the wiki to advertise on, is against the Terms of Use. On the other hand, if this is a non-profit hobby you have some leeway to show off your work on your user page - just don't use your user page or blogs etc. to try and sell products. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:26, July 10, 2019 (UTC)

Can we test a new feature here on the wiki with your help?

Hey WarBlade,

I messaged you on Slack, but since I'm not sure you check there at all, I figured I'd contact you here on the wiki. Fandom is working on a new trivia quiz feature that you might have seen on a few other wikis already (like here on Game of Thrones or Star Wars).

So far, we have only tested this on TV and Movie communities, but not on any gaming communities, since wikis on videogames often function a bit differently and have more specific needs. We're now ready to test this on gaming communities as well, though. Would your community be open to trying this?

It would mean we enable the trivia quiz feature here for Discussions, and you or another admin, mod or knowledgeable user (or users) would put together a set of questions to turn into a quiz. We'd publish a couple of quizzes with that user's help and see how the Discussions community likes it, whether they see issues with it, etc. What do you think?

If you'd find it easier to discuss this on Discord, feel free to reach out to me there (Mira_Laime#9344) - and of course you can ping me in Slack! Mira Laime @fandom  (help forum | blog) 18:32, July 12, 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Yeah, I tried Slack one time and promptly forgot about it. If you want to try quizzes, here I don't see anyone having a problem with it. That being said, I do recall how much traction polls got around this place, and after the novelty wore off people soon lost interest. The Discussions crowd might be more receptive to something like this though. -- WarBlade (talk) 08:07, July 17, 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! We'll enable the feature later today. To kick off the test (and make users even aware there is something new), we'll have our Content Team members publish a few quizzes over the next few days, but any community member will be able and welcome to create them. Admins and mods can moderate them just like any other regular Discussions post - i.e. delete any that aren't appropriate or violate your guidelines.
During this test, we hope to figure out just how interested our users are in creating and taking quizzes. Polls have turned out to be hugely popular on some communities, and less so on others. The quiz feature is not yet fully developed, so we're hoping to get valuable feedback on what it still needs, what needs to be changed, etc. from the community. So if you or anyone else here has anything to say about this feature, let us know! You can respond to me here, or even just email Mira Laime @fandom  (help forum | blog) 18:42, July 17, 2019 (UTC)
Aaaaand ... quizzes are live! Mira Laime @fandom  (help forum | blog) 20:52, July 17, 2019 (UTC)

Regarding the BL3 category

I noticed you removed this category from a number of pages that I had it on, saying it's invalid. I'm confused. The text of the category, as with the one for BL2 and so on, say it's for all articles, categories, and images unique to the game. How were those pages I edited not covered under this? TWRAddictYT (talk) 03:38, July 30, 2019 (UTC)

As previously put to you on your talk page, the appropriate categories will be supplied by the character template. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:45, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
In regards to that template, is there a reason so much information is plugged into it? It's a pain to edit in any form other than source mode. Most wikis I've seen keep the template strictly for the infobox and keep the rest of the article separate. TWRAddictYT (talk) 03:52, July 30, 2019 (UTC)
It was devised as a means to keep some level of consistency from one article to the next. 2009 through 2012 were problematic for us on the wiki with people just throwing in whatever random bits of data (and categories) seemed appropriate at the time. Through adopting the full page template we managed to gain somewhat consistent layout, structure, categorisation, and more. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:02, July 30, 2019 (UTC)

Your Nth Degree Edit

You undid my edit to The Nth Degree, and restored the incorrect information. I'm open to suggestions for how to proceed. The issue is, there's been a pervasive rumor that Nth Degree bullets regain full damage after first being reflected by Close Enough. IE, if the damage is 100, then after Close Enough that becomes 50. The page currently states that when it procs Nth Degree, it restores the Nth Degree bullet's damage back to 100. However, in reality, it does 50 damage, just like the Close Enough bullet did. That's why mentioning the rumor is important. If we simply remove the reference entirely, as we would otherwise do(since it doesn't actually exist), then people may come along and put it back.  But if you say it actually works the way it does, despite rumors to the contrary, people will not change it.

One way or another, the incorrect information needs to be fixed.

DemiserofD (talk) 19:53, August 4, 2019 (UTC)

My edit summary was clear enough. You started with, "Contrary to popular belief..." It doesn't matter what you posted after that. You instantly qualified your update for an immediate revert by documenting some ephemeral "popular belief" presumably from a portion of the player base. Now, if you have conflicting information to add, then by all means add it, or in the case of disputed information hash it out on the article's talk page. -- WarBlade (talk) 07:55, August 5, 2019 (UTC)

If you're going to change the formatting on something, change it, dude. But don't put back incorrect information because you dont like the way the correct info is written.

If you can't even handle something as basic as that, you really shouldn't be in a position of leadership. Put on your big boy pants and do your goddamn job.

DemiserofD (talk) 14:09, August 5, 2019 (UTC)

I'm with Warblade on this one: if you have information that supports your claims, then post it. Otherwise don't post information that has not been confirmed. And I don't see where WB mentioned that they reverted your edit because they disagreed with how you formatted said edit. There is no "doing your goddamn job" here, but there is you misunderstanding the reasoning behind the revert though. --Gulfwulf (talk) 05:41, August 13, 2019 (UTC)

Formatting questions

Hey Warblade,

I have some questions regarding preferred formatting on the Wiki, especially tables. I created some pages like Amara/Skill tree or Cyclone using whatever table formatting I found pleasing at the time, fully expecting them to be completely reformatted or rewritten, but apparently they're being used as templates for new pages instead, so I want to get it right in the first place. Questions like:

  • Am I right in assuming that custom table colours are preferably avoided? For example, I once used #111111 as BG colour because I found it aesthetically pleasing, but if it leads to different table colours everywhere that's probably unwanted, right? For that reason, I e.g. undid that on the Cyclone page.
  • I use those width:Xem thingies to make tables more consistent, is it good practice to do that or does that come with display problems I may be unaware of (e.g. on mobile), so is it fine or should it be avoided?
  • Is there a preferred style for the first column, e.g. text above or below the icon, bold or not, etc.?

Actually I've got more petty detail questions like these. If there's a better place to discuss this, please tell me. Otherwise, I'm glad to hear your answers to these questions, or if you think that artistic creativity is fine and I should just do what feels right.

Best regards, Peacemon (talk) 06:28, October 6, 2019 (UTC)

Tables... That's one thing we've never bothered to try and establish a wiki-wide standard on, so we've got several styles present once you start looking for them. Even I'm guilty of cooking up a unique table style used nowhere else on the wiki. So for the moment if it looks okay, and frankly I thought the vehicle mod tables were pretty good when I first saw them, then just go with it. You might be the one to establish a standard.
You also mention mobile. Tables tend to be avoided thanks to mobile, but skinny, narrow tables seem to be less of an issue. -- WarBlade (talk) 11:07, October 6, 2019 (UTC)
Alright, thanks! Peacemon (talk) 22:07, October 6, 2019 (UTC)
Amara/Skill tree: Too much bold text. The overall size of the tree is huge and inconvenient to read.
In my opinion, the format of Brick/Skill tree looks much better. Therefore, so good format has been refined and used for all skill trees on the Russian Borderlands Wiki (for example, Russian Axton Skill Tree looks much, much better.). -- Sega010 (talk) 22:44, October 6, 2019 (UTC)
I'm well aware that page is ugly and too long. I originally made that after the gameplay reveal, took screenshots for the icons, edited them all and transcribed all the text seen there. Bold text is ugly but at the time I just used bold text for everything that was highlighted in the descriptions seen in the game. I just wanted to gather everything and put it in there as a first step, actually hoping that someone else would make it prettier.
I do like the hovering-the-cursor info on that Russian page, but I lack the knowledge of how to do that. I took a look at it in the source editor but sadly the entire code is cyrillic so I don't know how to replicate it. Do you know a page that explains all the code that's used in this Wiki?
I don't believe this page could be arranged in the same manner though. Brick's skill tree is 7 columns, the Axton tree you've linked is 10 columns, with augments and stuff it would be 16 columns in BL3 which is just too much. My idea is having the 3 trees atop each other with 6 columns each instead, I think that might work.
I might make an overhaul if I find the time, but tbh I don't think it's top priority because entire skill trees are something most people will probably look up in the official skill calculator anyway.
Still, if you've got a link that explains Wiki code in detail, that would be appreciated.

Cannot rename page

I recently created the page Carnivora (vehicle). However, I can’t seem to rename the page to simply “Carnivora” as I receive an error message saying I do not have permission to rename.

Previously, there was a page simply titled “Carnivora” that detailed the location. I have since renamed that page to Carnivora (location) to differentiate between the two. This is necessary as the game's storyline makes it explicitly clear that Carnivora is actually the vehicle, not the location. The location is listed within the game as “Carnivora” merely to preserve the surprise reveal of the vehicle and subsequent boss fight. However, as far as the story is concerned, the vehicle is the true Carnivora. Thus, the page name “Carnivora” should be reserved for said vehicle and the location differentiated by parentheses.

Considering you are the administrator who previously renamed my page, I felt you were the best choice to bring this matter to.

Thank you,

Granitebees (talk) 08:58, October 9, 2019 (UTC)

Either way, we still have the issue of a map instance named "Carnivora," so there's that to document, and the lesser consideration of the vehicle's interior being a similarly named map. In terms of lore, yes the vehicle is clearly the central focus, however in terms of good practice in how this wiki documents topics it is usually better to set the name without parenthesis as the disambiguation page. -- WarBlade (talk) 11:17, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
Ah, I see. That makes sense. Thank you for you time. Also, I tried my best to make my page fit to the wiki’s standards. However, it’s also the first wiki page I’ve ever created on this (or any other) wiki. Please let me know if there’s anything on it I should edit or fix. Thank you!
Granitebees (talk) 02:18, October 11, 2019 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind me barging in here.... If that is how this wiki normally does things, that's completely fine, however, I might point out that in the case of only two pages with the same name, it is generally considered good practice to leave the dominant page with the name and have a link to the alternate page at the top of the article. Disambiguation pages are better if there are three or more pages with the same name.
◄► Tephra ◄► @fandom 08:42, October 13, 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, this would be ideal, except here on the Borderlands Wiki we tend to find that someone comes along and moves the old page anyway, so there have been quite a few instances where we've suddenly had to hunt around and locate relevant sub pages in a hurry, never mind the fiddly business of following "what links here" links to two or more nav templates. Sometimes it's easier to take a deep breath and get all that done in one hit when we're prepared for it (and have some time to edit). And by extension easier to set up multiple pages at the start in a case like this when both are added to the game series at the same time. Funny you should bring this up though, because I was looking at exactly this situation last night with the new Skagzilla bandit technical in the Droughts - I'm leaning towards trying to keep the old Skagzilla article in place and title the new one something like Skagzilla (technical). -- WarBlade (talk) 20:02, October 13, 2019 (UTC)

Moze skins and Table issues

I have this case. I've made this article

by clicking on a "dead link" of the same name in Quick change articleand it appears that it doesn't fit the pattern of naming similar articles. So I tried to change the name to "Moze/Skins" but I can't cause it appears that this article already exists, like it was created automatically or sumthn? Anyway, can these two be merged or that empty one removed out of my way? Would be appreciated.

BTW I tried to format the article according to the pattern too, and have no idea what's with table (Visual Editor). It simply acts strange, it replaces the multiple-line text, the backspace and delete work erratically within cells, it prevents me from writing more than one line of text below it, and "harms" the article edition even after being deleted.

I tried to write the content of table separetely and then paste it into it but that produces even weirder effect. I suppose the feature is glitched.

zadymek (talk) 13:04, November 2, 2019 (UTC)

Hey Zady. Have you already uploaded screenshots of the different heads and skins? If so, I'll see if I can get that table to work properly. --Gulfwulf (talk) 06:38, December 2, 2019 (UTC)

NOG page

Hello again,

Why did you undo my edit to the NOG page? The previous (now current again) version was a stub that provided very little descriptive information or information useful to players. Also, the page's source editor showed the page was arranged in a very strange format not typical of any pages I have seen on this wiki.

Considering my edit expanded information for the sake of thoroughness and documentation, why was it deleted? Even if the original format was specifically required, why was the expanded information not kept? It should also be noted that the source editor revealed hidden sections in the format for "Strategy" and "Trivia", both of which were sections the edited information were relevant to.

Granitebees (talk) 21:03, November 2, 2019 (UTC)

I was getting ready for work, so couldn't spare the time to pick through for the bits that should be kept. Character articles shave long been a problem on this wiki, with editors adding all manner of subheadings and generally introducing so many non-standard additions that we made the move to full page templates to try to instill some level of conformity / standardisation. So yes, there was content from your addition that should be kept, but unfortunately it got nuked in an easy fix. It looks like Sega010 has picked data from the page history from your edit to add back into the page, so your update wasn't lost exactly, just shoved out of sight for a bit while it got sorted out for display. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:51, November 3, 2019 (UTC)

Skywell-27 issues

Lo, I just added two things to the Skywell-27 article, a line of text to enemies and a pic to the gallery

And It looks like something has happened to the layout? It look OK in the editor, but the gallery is a mess after I saved. Probably Visual Editior strikes back.

Take a look at it when you have a sec. I'll be glad to know what I messed up this time.

The content of "Game" field on the infobox is visible in the Visual Editor, but not in the artile itself. Any idea what's the problem?

BTW Upon careful inspection I see there are few more articles that use "Character" template with the same problem.

Disruptive edits / edit warring

Could you have a look at User:FL4KPlayZ and their edits?  A quick look at their recent changes should be all the information you need, but they're basically spamming incorrect or out of place information to a few articles and re-doing it every time it gets reverted, sometimes with different phrasing or an incoherent reason given. Double Penetrating Boloney Poney (talk) 14:35, November 13, 2019 (UTC)

Thanks.  If I get motivated I'll try to link them to some simple writing style / wiki etiquette info, although since they already deleted your message on their talk page I don't know if it'll sink in.  I took care of reverting the last re-inserts of the repeated edits to other articles.  Double Penetrating Boloney Poney (talk) 23:11, November 13, 2019 (UTC)

zadymek (talk) 22:02, November 16, 2019 (UTC)

Yes, but what sort of additions? -- WarBlade (talk) 22:18, November 16, 2019 (UTC)

Have some vehicles (technicals aso), skags, rakks, varkids, psychos etc to add. Also, some "objects" in enemies nav link to B and B2 articles.

Thx. I hope I can figure out how to not screw anything in there:)

zadymek (talk) 10:18, November 17, 2019 (UTC)

One more thing

I see there is "Vehicles" sub-category in "Maliwan Forces" - but there's no such for COV. Is "Vehicles" even belongs to "Enemies" nav?

BTW I see the Chubby Skag didin't change much since B2 so I leave it there. But I'd like to make Gallery in its infobox. Like

Chubby in B2

Chubby in B3

Is it possible in Visual Editor, or I'd have to use classic one?

zadymek (talk) 11:05, November 17, 2019 (UTC)

Good question about the vehicles. Now that I think about it I'm not so sure. In the past we've had vehicular enemies where the machine itself was effectively the enemy. Maybe we can finally break away from that in Borderlands 3. As for the chubby, there should be different articles between the Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 versions. -- WarBlade (talk) 17:13, November 17, 2019 (UTC)

Force Troopers of Power Troopers

So I have this problem with this article.

The enemies it refers to are clearly named "[color] Power Trooper" not Force Trooper. And the article doesn't mention any quest related to them (I have heard it's a bounty, gonna check this later), so why "Force Troopers"?

Anyway, if the name is incorrect I'd apply for name change.

zadymek (talk) 20:02, December 1, 2019 (UTC)

It doesn't fit our naming conventions. I'd recommend questioning the article content on the article's talk page to figure out where the content fits on the wiki. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:10, December 2, 2019 (UTC)
It's a bounty you can get from Sanctuary III, but I don't remember the requirements before it shows up. I think it's one of Zer0's assignments? --Gulfwulf (talk) 06:36, December 2, 2019 (UTC)
K, I'll do it right away. Thanks.zadymek (talk) 11:59, December 2, 2019 (UTC)
Force troopers show up as a mission in Sanctuary III after a friend has randomly spawned and killed them (or done through the quest gotten the same way). If not, they can still spawn but with a low chance. This mechanic is the same for most rares I believe. --Double Penetrating Boloney Poney (talk) 11:51, December 8, 2019 (UTC)

Never had that (or any other "Kill ABC") mission on Sanctuary III bounty board so can't say what that bounty reads. Anyway, just had them tested and yes... they are Power Troopers. Guess back when I created the article, I was following (w/o thinking, my bad) naming from that yet non-existing Kill Force Troopers mission. Go ahead and change the title. --SirFoggy (talk) 13:26, December 2, 2019 (UTC)

Community Patch for TPS; Is Info Wanted?

I know the community patch isn't documented here as of now (and would be difficult to do with all the optional settings), but from what I'm seeing on LetsPlays and elsewhere a large proportion of users are playing with the community patch loaded since the game was sadly left partly unfinished;  I know I've been enjoying it more but the patch notes don't document everything...

What are your thoughts on this?  Outside the scope of this wiki? Does another wiki exist already?   Thanks and cheers for moderating here. Double Penetrating Boloney Poney (talk) 11:47, December 8, 2019 (UTC)

Rehashed weapons

Borderlands 3 now has a legendary weapon that is a rehash of its unique variant. Compare the Redistributor in this video to this. Does the legendary variant warrant making a separate page or should it be mentioned in the current page as a notable variant? WKPQ (talk) 21:41, December 9, 2019 (UTC)

"(mission reward)" sounds like a good idea. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:24, December 13, 2019 (UTC)

Crazy Editor

I've got this editing problem, with this article

I tried to fix the "Desperado" being displayed instead green "Desperado". Probably due to "nowiki" entry there.
I went for the source edit cause you can't do this in Visual Editor. I fixed this by adding missing "}" to the end of "Desperado"
...and then all other cells went crazy displaying this Under Construction warning. WTH is happening there?

Invitation to join the advisor program

Hello! I'm Sannse, from Fandom's Editor Experience team. I'm contacting you as the most recently active admin. Hopefully you can pass this on to others as needed.

One project that we're excited about launching is an initiative to pair newly registered users with experienced advisors (which they can choose from). These advisors would be available for answering basic editing questions and guiding appropriate edits, in the hope that these users will become active in the local community.

Why do this, rather than rely on admins and moderators? We've seen from research and experience (both from Wikipedia) that establishing a human bond with a peer "senpai" or mentor can have a better effect on the comfort of the newcomer, especially where the high volume of edits may cause the quick response of rollbacks rather than taking the time to walk new editors through their early work. While some communities do take that time and care among their leaders, we feel an additional level might put new users at ease and help them be more comfortable with editing. Ultimately, we feel like this project will either free up some time for admins and moderators, or designate them as approachable welcomers to talk to and guide new users. We want to see how effective this is on a relatively small number of communities and see if Fandom's results are consistent with those experienced on Wikipedia. If they are, we may pursue expanding the pilot program and perhaps seeking to build it into a core part of the new platform.

Here's what we would wish for your community to agree to:

  • At least one volunteer advisor, acting as an advisor and advocate helping newcomers. For the most part, this means responding to questions that newcomers leave the advisor in Discussions. Sometimes this may mean the advisor interacts with admins and moderators to address concerns regarding the newcomer. We have some advisors-at-large (those not tied to the local community, but available as fallbacks) already, but if you have ideas on who you might want to represent you in this role (or if you'd like to do so yourself!), feel free to contact me on my Wall.
  • Discussions / Feeds. Your community must have this active for the current solution to work. This is the primary method in which advisors have open communication with the users that choose them. We also recommend a Feeds channel of “Help Desk” where the communications can be placed, if you do not have a similar channel.
  • A change to your Welcome Messages to allow a method where a newcomer can choose an advisor. If you are currently participating in the MyDashboard program, there will be a card there to interact with an advisor.

We are testing this for the next two months, and will see what the future of the program is thereafter. Is this a program you would feel comfortable with placing on your community? -- Sannse @fandom (help forum | blog) 00:24, December 15, 2019 (UTC)

I think we tried something similar locally, and it didn't really get far. I'll pass on the note though. Someone might go for it. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:59, December 15, 2019 (UTC)
The response, while positive, was somewhat muted. The responses:
  • " I don't have time to actively edit per my new job, but I'd be willing to take on the role if you're interested in trying it out. It does seem to imply there be more than one choice however, but I'll officially throw my hat in the ring."
  • "we could do the focus test. i would recommend any/all advisors be available on this disco. thus making US available to any/all advisors. ive made it clear over the years that users may use any page created in THEIR OWN user namspace for, well, anything really."
On that note, I don't know if the Borderlands Wiki would be an effective test case. Those of us who have been prolific editors in the past and might have made for decent mentors at a different time, don't seem to have a whole lot of time to donate at the moment. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:36, December 28, 2019 (UTC)
I would recommend putting your response on Sannse's talk page as she won't receive a notification from you responding here.

Sorry, seems I forgot to put this one my watchlist.

It sounds like the general consensus is "no", but if you decide to give it a go in the future, please let me know. It's a project that's still under development, and we've had some great feedback from those who are trying it, so we'll be tweaking it for a while. Thanks for considering it -- Sannse @fandom (help forum | blog) 18:58, January 16, 2020 (UTC)

Mechs category (Borderlands 3)

I was just looking at the Robots category on this wiki

and I was wondering: why are we even having "Mechs" distinction within Borlderlands 3 enemies nav?

It's not like these aren't robots as well, and as you can see in the past all mechanical enemies were just tagged "Robots", so...?

zadymek (talk) 17:39, December 16, 2019 (UTC)

Did I set that one up? I can't even remember. I think the distinction there is which way mechs are supposed to go: Robot, or vehicle? Mechs are both and neither, so if there's a subdivision for them specifically, I'm fine with that. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:35, December 16, 2019 (UTC)
Mind if I step in? :) Mechs are nothing but vehicles of a sort; w/o human (or any other biological entity to pilot them) they're nothing but piles of metal... regardless of how advanced those piles might be. On the other hand, robots are independent entities. Although still "advanced piles" they are piloted by an AI... as in BL3 we have no clear evidence to suggest otherwise, for all practical purposes and intents all "mechs" are robots of one description or another. Case in point... GeniVIV.... an advanced AI taking control of a advanced Valkyrie... w/o GeniVIV that Valkyrie is nothing but a pile of a hardware... how advanced pile of hardware makes no difference. I'm in with Zadymek on this one... unless we somehow get a solid proof that Hoplites and up are actually being piloted by biological entities... they're nothing but some seriously advanced toasters. --SirFoggy (talk) 00:14, December 17, 2019 (UTC)

Update images (Borderlands 3)

Hello, can I update the images for the Borderlands 3 weapons for lvl50 ones?

Phoetaim (talk) 01:43, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

If you mean to display higher levels, or optimal DPS examples, then please don't. Images on article pages are ideally of good quality and appropriate format. There is no set standard on the item level displayed, but actually just showing the item with a good quality image is what we're looking for here. Any suitable newer images can still be added to the item variant sub page. -- WarBlade (talk) 04:01, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

Ok thank you :)

Jackpot pages

In Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, the final boss is named Jackpot. The page for it uses its TVHM / Mayhem name of Jackpot the Jack's bot. As Jackpot currently redirects to Jackpot!, could the enemy page use the redirect page but with a "For the challenge in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, see Jackpot!" note? WKPQ (talk) 17:44, February 13, 2020 (UTC)

I've set up a new disambiguation page. I don't have that DLC myself, so I'll be leaving the rest for others to sort out. :) -- WarBlade (talk) 21:14, February 13, 2020 (UTC)

Dual Status Effects

Hello, i am Hercules40 and am a long time lurker. I joined because i saw some articles (ex: Sellout) with confusing wording about special effects.

With my cited example, it said Always Incendiary and Corrosive and after testing out i understood it meant that the weapon firing modes are always these two, but by reading i understood that every single shot was dual element like Florentine. Thus where can i submit a suggestion about elucidading these effects?

Hercules40 (talk) 12:18, March 22, 2020 (UTC)

I think in a case like this, seeking out the contributors who update weapon articles frequently could be something to explore. User:WKPQ makes numerous cleanup style edits for example. -- WarBlade (talk) 05:45, March 23, 2020 (UTC)

Trufflemunch and Buttmunch

Hello Warblade, I am looking for permission to seperate the Trufflemunch and Buttmunch page and create two distinct pages. They currently share a page. While they are fought during the same mission, they are very different in appearence and strategy, so I feel it would be better if they were seperated. Thank You

BrianTheBoss200 (talk) 17:16, March 27, 2020 (UTC)

Strategy??? They should not have any strategy in their articles. All strategy should be in the linked mission article. As for the enemies themselves, sure, split them. -- WarBlade (talk) 21:47, March 27, 2020 (UTC)

Is it alright if I add Tales from the Borderlands achievements/trophies on the Achievement page? NewGenTV (talk) 13:32, March 30, 2020 (UTC)

How come you've never added any dialogoue for the characters that the players has chosen in the Borderland franchise? --Griffguy26 (talk) 22:48, April 8, 2020 (UTC)

It has never been a priority for me. -- WarBlade (talk) 02:29, April 9, 2020 (UTC)

Mayhem Mode table nominee

Hey there! I was browsing around the wiki and noticed the page Mayhem Mode may need some sort of data table for the information regarding the 4 different levels of Mayhem.

I thought I'd give it a try and create a rough sketch of what could be a nominee to use on the page. However, I'm referring to you for approval due to the fact that I'm too new on this wiki, and perhaps I should ask the opinion of an administrator before considering to submit these kinds of medium-sized nominees, given that different wikis have different methods of enforcement.

Regardless... there is one detail: I don't know how to post it here, as I still haven't created a sandbox here, so I hosted it in my main wiki's Sandbox. On the other hand, I don't want to post it on a User Talk, I think it'd consume too much space.

The goal of this was to make it somewhat look like the in-game model, but given the limitations on formatting and assets, I was not capable to replicate it much further. In addition, a tabber function was applied in order to preserve space.

Check the page, scroll down to find the nominee, and share your opinions on so. Again, this is a rough sketch, but I'd still like to hear your opinions. Thanks! (if signature's broken, see my Payday Wiki profile instead for reference) IAppData (talk) 07:10, April 9, 2020 (UTC)

Protected page

Hey WarBlade, i was wondering if you could unprotect the King Aracobb page. I wanted to fix the red link (with Spiderant King). Thanks. --Tidras (Talk) 16:51, July 3, 2020 (UTC)

That infamous article will need to remain protected I'm afraid. We've had a number of editors trying to claim the name is based on a similarly named spider in a Harry Potter book. At any rate I've updated the link and reformatted the article into the updated character article format we switched to years ago. Thanks for highlighting. -- WarBlade (talk) 23:07, July 5, 2020 (UTC)
