This is my idea for a heavy combat based Roland with a minor amount of support.

Build Order

Damage First

  • Impact to 5
  • Scattershot to 5
  • Assault to 5
  • Metal Storm to 5
  • Fitness to 5
  • Aid Station to 5
  • Overload to 5
  • Defense to 5
  • Quick Charge to 5

Tank First

  • Defense to 5
  • Quick Charge to 5
  • Fitness to 5
  • Aid Station to 5
  • Overload to 5
  • Impact to 5
  • Metal Storm to 5
  • Assault or Scattershot to 5
  • Assault or Scattershot to 5

Weapon Recommendations

  • A high magazine capacity, high damage combat rifle
  • A high damage shotgun
  • A Burst fire, high damage combat rifle
  • Either a sniper or another shotgun
  • Either use a Heavy Gunner, Commando, or Rifleman class mods based on preference.
  • A Corrosive or Shock grenade mods
  • A High capacity health boosting shield
  • Any Artifact for the turret

Specific Weapon Choices

Any element on a weapon is okay as it fits your purpose. The sniper or second shotgun can be switched in favor of close or long range combat.

Cons

  • Low turret damage
  • Low support abilities
  • High shotgun spread
  • Low ammo regeneration

Strategy

Team Strategies

When playing with a team your main job will be damage dealing at mid to close range. You will not be able to support your team as well because you lack Cauterize to heal and the turret does not drop ammo. Use your turret in the front to provide mild support and healing to the non sniping damage dealers.

Solo Strategies

You will just kill everything in sight. Pull with the sniper as needed and use the shot gun or the high magazine combat rifle at close range. Try to avoid attacking at range because the sway on the sniper makes it hard to hit the target. Use the turret to deal mild damage and heal you in a fight.

Possible Build Changes

If you want to change the build to make your turret more useful, move the points put into Defense and Quick Charge into Stockpile and Cauterize for support or Sentry and Guided Missile for damage. If you want to heal put the points from Defense and Quick Charge into Cauterize and Stat.
