Premise

Based on my own experience I've found that Mordercai is quite well suited for elemental-style play and his weapon-based skills are good for increasing damage for firearms that have a tendency towards strong elemental benefits. I've mainly used this build when running in group games where I've found the main benefit to be that lining up for headshots (as with most Mord-Trespass builds) is time consuming when the action is often frenzied. Being able to send massive fireballs down range with a Volcano or spamming pistol-based fire or corrosive damage in close quarters means that you're spending less time labouring over killing individual enemies and more time spreading the hurt throughout the horde.

This is not a Bloodwing-heavy build, I've mainly allocated points into the Rogue tree for healing purposes and to get the Daze effect over multiple enemies, but with the extra points and levels available with all DLCs installed there's no reason not to have a well-rounded character. That said, prioritise putting points in the Sniper and Gunslinger trees first, Rogue is only for extra points and not really essential to the build.

But why no Trespass? Trespass is alright for non-elemental snipers but with a loadout comprised mainly of elemental weapons, the bullet itself would hit the enemy, while the fire damage would be used to damage the shields. Without Trespass, the bullet itself will tend to knock out most of the shield and then proc the fire damage onto the enemy with more efficiency. This idea was based on talk I've seen around the wiki and incorporated into my playstyle.

Loadout

Maliwan Volcano

Maliwan Firehawk

Pestilent Defiler

Non-Elemental Weapon (I've tended to use a Masher Revolver)

Shield

Before Out For Blood is specced, try and find a health regenerating shield, Panaceas are good for quick health regen.

Afterwards, one of the Torgue shields with Boosted max health (+30%, 40% or 60%) to make the most out of Out For Blood's percentile based health returns.

Class Mod

Gunslinger Class Mod is ideal for this and adds points to all of the skills listed here. I'm still experimenting with the best Hunter mod for group play, my guess is Ranger as the effects of the Scavenger mod seem a bit tenuous.

Finally...

Thoughts, comments, suggestions are welcome, this is definitely a work in progress and I'm constantly adjusting my approach to this character to best work with the group I play with and when I'm soloing.
