About me

Not much to say really, Borderlands has grabbed my attention for now. If anyone ever wants to find me, my GameSpy name is Nutter4Ever I think, usually play solo but willing to co-op. Usually in co-op I play with a friend of mine. At the moment we are working on second play through on a Mordecai duo.

My main advice for anyone playing Borderlands is focus. Don't try to make a character that can take any weapon and make decent use of it, make a character and stick with one or two weapon choices, might limit your options on the loot, but damn when you get that one sweet weapon of your type choice you'll make fantastic use of it rather than just being decent.

This is the build that I'm currently using, there is a little room for flexability, esp if you consider that it's very good for a sniper or pistol setup depending on Mod and Weapon loadout.

With this setup I've got a Gunslinger Mod that improves fire rate by 78% with 12+ Ammo regen. The skills bonus is weak being only a +3 to loaded, which doesn't help my pistols in the slightest. But with the fire rate I can usually take just about anything down pretty sharpish, and with the ammo regen I can keep up the pace for far longer than than most fights last. Yet to run out of revolver or repeater ammo but if I did I usually carry both so could switch mid-fight and start trying to wear down that ammo as well. Proficent in pistols up to lvl 33 further more gives me a very rapid reload speed. So unless I'm picking them off from a distance with with my sniper rifle you'll usually find me charging the enemy down to give them a full pistol clip to the crit spots.

The riotous remedy along with a good shield with rapid healing means that I don't go down too often, and unless I'm unlucky and there's nothing left to kill I can usually pick myself up for a second wind.

Alot of this build however is reliant on getting at least a fair number of the kills, if you're struggling to get the killing blows you'll fined that it's under-powered and fairly weak. But with my reckless attitude usually get one full in the face kill in which kicks it up so I'm least dealing at least my fair share of the damage.

You should also note the complete lack of skills to improve bloodwing. Towards the mid point of the second playthough I found that he just wasn't getting in enough damage and was a little too akward to use. Would of prefered him to be a lot more free roaming and out to kill everything rather than just going where you're looking because to be honest if I'm hiding behind a wall waiting for shields and health to come back up, I don't want him buzzing around my head waiting with me.

Main advantage:

Best summed up as: "Vladof. You don't need to be a better shot, you just need to shoot more bullets!" - Marcus Kincaid

Main disadvantage:

Very forward play style, which leads to tricky situations.

Player Background:

The hunter was my first choice of character to play in this game and remains my main focus, the first play though took me a while due to on/off interest in the game. Initially went with sniper build for the whole of the first playthru, after maxing the sniping skills leaned towards boosting Bloodwing. After the first playthru switched to a pistol/bloodwing loadout for the first part of the second playthru. However eventually my play style meant that bloodwing was under used and I felt like the points spent in improving bloodwing could be better spent else where, cleared them and focused on anything and everything that would improve my damage with guns in general, then pistols specifically. After that the points have been thrown into sniping as it's an alternative when I can't make the distance to help out team mates. Initially went with a mod to improve team healing, which helped to stay alive thoughout the fights however eventually picked up the mod I'm still using figured to give it a go and been using it ever since staying alive now is not done by stamina and out living everything else it's done by making sure that they end up dead quicker than I do (yeah I know that both essenitally mean the same but you should get my meaning).

This is my work in progress build for Roland, solo playing him at the moment, might take him online for playthrough to.

This guy is all about the assult rifle, with the mod he's currently running with he's got about +200% ammo capacity. Taking an accurate assult rifle with a 12 round clip all the way up to 36, at 3 round burst not much can't take out at decent range with a decent enough re-load speed. Have a couple of other assult rifles, one with incendery element 1x the other just plain damage, for up close and personal fighting, both have lousy reload speeds for the moment so mainly use them up then switch out. Going to be focusing a few more of the skill points in a while to make the sentry gun more effective, starting with Stockpile to try and combat the ammo loss of the assult rifles followed up with improving the re-use speed of the sentry gun.

Will update this as I progress but so far turning out to be a very ammo happy spray and pray build.
