Usage & Description
Area of effect grenades are always elemental and instead of exploding they create a lingering field that deals continuous damage over time on a wide area. These grenades can be used effectively in tight spaces and choke points to punish enemy movement, can create a safe area against non-projectile enemies, and work well against stationary or slow moving targets.
Enemies that are resistant to initial damage will still take damage from the area of effect, but will not receive the usual damage-over-time effect that they would otherwise be afflicted with if they were not immune
Each element have slightly different visual effects but the usage remains the same for all subtypes.
Bust Fire (Fire)
These grenades release 4 columns of fire in a cross pattern while continuously spinning on the spot. They can deal massive amounts of damage to groups of enemies on closed an open areas alike.
Upon detonation the Cloud grenade releases a green corrosive cloud that lingers for several seconds, dealing corrosive damage to all enemies within the area regardless if they are resistant to corrosive damage.
Shock area of effect grenades, named Tesla, continuously and for a short amount of time shock all creatures in or who enter a visible radius centered on it. Unlike other Area-of-Effect grenades, Tesla Grenades are able to determine friend from foe. After the initial explosion and until the final explosion, lighting bolts will only attack enemy AI. All party members can stand within the white circled border without being targeted.
- A Tesla grenades' bolts will "shoot down" buzz axes that are thrown through their area of effect.
- Tesla grenade lighting bolts are able to bypass targets' shields if placed within range, above or below.
- Tesla grenade lighting bolts will not attack enemies that are cloaked or invisble (Stalker, Hyperion Infiltrator).
