The Tunguska is a Pearlescent Rocket Launcher manufactured by Torgue. The Tunguska can be obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has a higher chance to drop from human Badasses.

Special Weapon Effects

It will split the sky in two. – Extremely high damage, increased blast radius, very slow reload. Fires in an parabolic arc similar to a mortar. On impact, rockets deal minor damage, rise a few feet into the air, and explode.

Usage & Description

The Tunguska deals massive damage, but its effectiveness is reduced by the fact that significant damage is delayed by the projectile's unique behavior, rising into the air after impact before exploding. The damage listed on the card is dealt by this grenade and not by the initial rocket.

Even with its tremendous damage the characteristic effects of the Tunguska reduce its effectiveness when trying to get second winds. If shot at the ground when Crippled, the rocket will elevate from the ground, doing reduced damage to most enemies and probably not hitting small enemies such as Varkids. Also, hitting moving or distant targets can prove difficult as the Tunguska fires in a parabolic trajectory.

Notes

  • The Tunguska's initial projectile deals damage equal to 1/10th of the explosion damage if hits an enemy.
  • The Tunguska will show the numbers for damage dealt even when hitting inert surfaces, such as the floor or a wall. This is the only weapon known to have such effect and may be a reference of the actual Tunguska Event.

Trivia

  • The name and Flavor text of this weapon reference the event, a massive explosion caused by an airburst of a large meteorite or comet fragment near the Tunguska River in Siberia in 1908. This was the largest impact event on or near the Earth in recorded history.
  • The weapon's flavor text is a reference an eyewitness report of the explosion, stating that the meteorite "split the sky in two".
