Torpedo is the title of a group of common assault rifles. They are manufactured exclusively by Torgue, and use the Torgue barrel. The Torpedo is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.

Usage & Description

Instead of a standard Torgue gyrojet projectile, the Torpedo fires a small rocket. Each rocket fired expends 4 rounds of assault rifle ammunition. The rocket travels in a straight line at a velocity greater than a standard Torgue assault rifle, exploding when it strikes an enemy or obstacle.

Upon exploding, the rocket delivers 100% of its gun damage value as splash damage in a small radius. The rocket inflicts no additional impact damage upon a direct hit. Bonuses to grenade or splash damage will not increase the damage delivered, nor will bonuses to rocket launcher damage. Bonuses to gun damage such as Axton's Impact skill, however, will increase damage delivered.

Variants

  • Boom Puppy - Unique assault rifle which fires rubberized grenades that explode with every bounce before finally dissipating with a large final explosion.
  • KerBlaster - Legendary assault rifle in which each shot fires one projectile which has a straight trajectory and explodes on impact; the explosion releases a grenade which also explodes one second later.
  • Peak Opener - Effervescent shock assault rifle which shoot one rocket that drop 3 child grenades and have increased firerate when zoomed in. Child grenades are explosive and detonate one zecond later.

Notes

  • Since Torpedoes inflict only splash damage, kills with a Torpedo will activate Krieg's Blood Bath skill. Conveniently, that skill increases Krieg's gun damage, which will improve subsequent shots with the same Torpedo.
  • Unlike other Torgue weapons, this rifle will never trigger Krieg's Blood Overdrive skill with a direct hit.
  • A Torpedo that spawns without an accessory receives the prefix "Rocket" instead of the standard grip prefix. The Torpedo shares this trait with its cousin the Rokets!, but not with the Rocketeer.
  • Like all assault rifles with this barrel, detonating Torpedo projectiles can be absorbed by an Absorption Shield, which will convert them into rocket launcher ammunition instead of assault rifle ammunition.
