Once it's three blue bits are destroyed, jump out of the rocks and kill all the worms until the two Queen worms appear. Leviathan won't do anything in this bit. Kill the two queens then jump back into the rocks and kill the Leviathan during his last attack phase (he can't hit you at all for this bit).

The Leviathan is the final boss of the Borderlands 2 add-on Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty. It is the guardian of Captain Blade's lost treasure, and must be defeated before the treasure can be accessed. It is an enormous sandworm-like creature, capable of a variety of devastating attacks. Once defeated, its corpse creates a walkway that allows access to the treasure room.

The Leviathian is easily the largest boss faced in either Borderlands game, especially considering the previous largest boss (the Rakk Hive) can fit entirely in the Leviathian's stomach (see Roscoe).

Strategy

The Leviathian does not represent a major challenge for a single player, however it can be tricky to defeat and may take several attempts when it is faced the first time. The fight consists of large, powerful attacks, such as it picking up rocks with its mouth and throwing them at the player, launching slag balls at the player, or simply slamming its arms onto the stage. In between these attacks, sandworms begin sprouting around the cliff that the player is standing on.

The Leviathian is impervious to direct attacks on its outer hide. To defeat it, you must first target the large blue growths that dot its body. There are four in total; two on its head, one on his heart, and one in its mouth. The blue growth in its mouth is incredibly difficult to destroy at first, so save that one for last. Rocket launchers and sniper rifles can reliably destroy these growths in a relatively low number of shots. It is advised to destroy the one on its heart first, because after one is destroyed, it will be momentarily stunned and expose the next growth, and destroying them in sequence will allow for a much shorter fight.

Once the three external growths are destroyed, the Leviathian has very little health left, and becomes dormant as more and more sandworms begin to spring up around the player. To continue the boss fight, the player must kill all the remaining sandworms until more powerful sandworms spawn. Once those are defeated, the Leviathian changes its behavior. It now continues the same round of attacks, but now begins lunging at the player with its mouth afterwards, exposing the blue growth. After every attack, look up, and the Leviathian should have its mouth and stem exposed directly above the player. Simply survive, and time attacks on its mouth correctly until victorious.

'Safe' Spot

To the left of the entrance are two green ammo boxes. If you stand *in* the rocks coming out of the ammo box platform (the ones closest to the entrance door - so the door is on your right) then all but one of the Leviathan's attacks will miss.

Note

  • The encounter can only be done with the quest [twice], once completed the boss dies automatically and the treasure room will not open, (not sure if its a bug).
  • Using Gaige and Anarchy (w/ Preshrunk Cyberpunk) can make the fight take a while as she'll have trouble hitting the weakspots accurately, but it is doable.
