  • Kill Jackenstein
  • Kill Professor Nakayama
  • Loot ship

Strategy

Jackenstein has a variety of attacks, each of them very powerful and dangerous. For most of the time of the fight, the monstrosity will chase the players around, using short-ranged moderately dangerous melee attacks, which can be avoided quite easily by simply sprinting away, occasionally jumping towards the more distant Vault Hunters, causing severe damage. Shields with very fast recharge rate are recommended to sustain through the constant beating the Jackenstein causes.

When leaving the tube that leads into the arena, Jackenstein immediately spawns and turns on the vault hunter. In order to find some cover, one can turn left and look at the wall behind. There is an arc attached to the wall to jump and climb on. From there it is possible to hide in a recess behind a wall. The beast is entirely invulnerable to damage on most of its body, except for the two energy capacitors on its back. When shot, the bullets (including rocket launcher shots) will be reflected in random directions, potentially harming the player.

The next step is to shoot at the capacitors on the back of the beast, which when hit will result in critical hits. When each one is destroyed, Jackenstein will jump onto a distant wall and activate an impenetrable shield. At this point some loaders spawn and attack. It should be considered letting them alive, so Second Winds can be achieved later when needed in the battle with the boss. After a while, Jackenstein will jump back into the arena and resume the fight. It is important to note that the shield can be partially bipassed by using amplifying shields. This technique allows for constant damage output towards the Jackenstein while he is unable to perform any action, possibly vastly reducing the time needed to complete the fight.

During the entire fight, the Jackenstein can grab any of the three large containers present in the area, as well as numerous big jars containing a corrosive fluid, hanging on some of the walls of the arena, and throw them at the Vault Hunters, causing massive damage and potentially instantly putting them into the Fight For Your Life mode unless the health gate triggers.

As those are rather difficult to dodge, especially when soloing the Jackenstein, it should be considered letting the beast throw the objects until their reserves are depleted, which will greatly diminish the danger the Jackeinstein presents. This strategy is possible thanks to the fact that the containers and jars do not respawn when the player dies.

The last stage of the fight, taking place after both of the energy capacitors are destroyed, features and entirely new attack pattern for Jackenstein. The beast will chase the players around the arena as regular, but occasionally, it will stop in its tracks, stand on its two hind legs and produce a massive barrage of energy blasts from its abdomen. As the spot the shots are shot from is the only vulnerable area of the Jackenstein's frame for this end, the period of the monster firing its torrent is the best time to put some damage on it.

Completion

"You killed Nakayama, obliterated his monstrosity, and saved Pandora once again. You go, girl.

Turn In: Sir Hammerlock.
