While Jakobs weaponry gained very strong crowd control abilities in Borderlands 3 because of the ricochet effects on critical hit that almost all Jakobs weapons share, the Companion eschews handling multiple enemies for incredible single-target damage, especially against unshielded and unarmored enemies. The elemental effect cannot trigger from anything besides critical hits, but the effect is absurdly powerful; a second's worth of burn damage triggered by the Companion is almost as strong as a normal bullet fired by the gun itself.

Notes

TheCompanionpurple
  • The Companion can sometimes change into a purple rarity weapon. This isn't permanent, as it seems to change each time it is loaded into the game. Quitting to the main menu and reloading the character should change it back to its legendary rarity.

Trivia

  • The name and flavor text are a reference to the 2002 television series Firefly.
