Speculation[]
I'm positive that absorbtion sheilds that convert incoming bullets to ammo are a larger category of sheilds in BL2, not just a feature of the Transformer sheild. What may be unique about the sheild, however, is that it is an absorbtion sheild and it provides complete immunity to electricution. Here's an example of a white rarity vladof sheild with absorb capabilities at 5:46 in this video So there are only two options of what the red text does now; something that is not explicitly listed in the item card and has yet to be determined or the immunity to electricty, which on its own is not unique but may only appear alongside absorbtion in the Transformer shield. 76.19.182.51 15:51, September 13, 2012 (UTC)
- I've heard that the special ability it gives is that it actually is able to be charged by electrical attacks rather than just negating the damage like other shields with "grants imunity from shock" Anon8792 (talk) 11:22, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
This Item...[]
When I first saw this, I was too low level to use it. It was my first Pimon kill. Now that I can use it, it is one of my favorite shields. Its Shock Immunity & absorb ability are incredibly useful against Loaders, especially Ion Loaders. ♪ I shot the sheriff! ♪ ~ 12:50, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
Recharge ability[]
I don't have any video to back this up... yet... but last night the girlfriend and I did some co-op while she was outfitted with a Transformer. I specifically asked her if she noticed any points at which electricity damage recharged her shield, and she was able to point to one moment in particular that seemed to happen. I'll be testing this myself to confirm, but it looks to me like the recharge ability is a real thing -- Yukichigai (talk) 07:57, December 4, 2012 (UTC)
Special stats[]
I just removed this line from the Special Shield Effects section: “Increased capacity but reduced recharge rate, recharge delay and absorb chance”. This has been probably written with The Sham in mind. The Transformer has actually above-average stats among Vladof ordinary shields: capacity & absorb chances are slightly better while recharge rate & delay are pretty variable and basically the same.
