Does anyone know how long the 'for a few seconds' really is? Does it depend on your level or how many points you put into this skill? Having used this skill myself, I would have to say it's somewhere between 7-10 seconds.-yodawg

+11% fire rate[]

I've been doing some test, and it would appear that the fire rate increase is actually effectively +11%. Tests include looking at the debug info of delay per shot, and just plain noticing that at metal storm level 9, my machine guns fire twice as fast (it should only get a 50% buff).

I decided to do the test because Metal Storm is pretty weak on paper, yet when you are using in, it feels like it is just so damn good! I smelled something fishy.

Research on my side is solid, (I can print numbers if you like) but I'd like to get a third party's confirmation/test before I add the info to the page that might look too much like original research, or written in too much of a speculative fashion.

This wouldn't be the first time the skills fuck up what they say with what they do. happypal (talk • contribs • inventory) 10:02, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

So here are my results: I used a Torgue 9.8 Glorious Mauler. Using the debug console, I got these results (on hind site, I should have written down more decimals):

Level 0 1 2 3 4 5 8 X Y
Delay 0.10 0.09 0.08 0.075 0.07 0.065 0.055 0.065 0.04
RoF 10 11.1 12.5 13.3 14.3 15.4 18.9 15.4 25
RoF% +0% +11% +25% +33% +43% +54% +89% +55% +150%
  • In this table, level is Metal Storm's Level. X is using a class mod with +55% fire rate. Y is using a class mod with +55% fire rate and +4 Metal storm (for a total of 9). note that 150% = 99%+55% (approx.)
  • Delay is acquired from the debug console
  • RoF = 1/Delay
  • RoF% = (Current_RoF / Base_Rof) - 1

I also tried it with a stop watch. My Mauler has a 48 magazine, which amounts to about 125 bullets in my soldier's hands. Without metal storm, it takes about 12-13 seconds to empty. With level 8 storm, it takes about 7 seconds (I time this by opening fire on a level 1 Skag ^^), and with my Y config (+55% fire rate, 9 metal storm), it takes about 5 seconds. It correlates quite well to the table.

Anyways, these are my results. happypal (talk • contribs • inventory) 09:25, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
