For the similarly named shotgun in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, see Sweeper (Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel).

Sweeper is the title of a group of Assault Shotguns with high spread. They fire 8 projectiles per shot. Vladof is the only manufacturer of Sweepers, giving most Sweepers a comparatively high Fire Rate (Though this is a Vladof trait, and not a Sweeper trait).

Examples are on the talk page.

Usage & Description[]

Sweepers are supposed to be the Assault Shotgun's answer to the Combat Shotgun's Matador. Sweeper don't match the Matador's Damage Per Shot given their lower projectile count (8 vs 12). They make up for this with a higher Fire Rate. This combination of low damage with a high Fire Rate has disadvantages: A high ammo consumption, absurd amounts of recoil, and short burst times before reloading.

Even with all these disadvantages though, a Vladof Sweeper's short burst DPS still won't match that of an equivalent Torgue Matador's much longer burst DPS.

Overall, this type of assault shotguns are frequently regarded a poor choice of a shotgun with the problems above and added that it's difficult to farm good quality sweeper shotguns, the only time a Vault Hunter would use a Sweeper is when a good Matador still hasn't been found.

Mechanics[]

The Sweeper Title (Title_HighSpread1_Sweeper) is given to Shotguns with high spread. It does nothing more than add a single projectile. Please see stat modifiers for an explanation on how to interpret all of these modifiers.
