Supply Drop is a Tier Four talent found in Roland's Support skill tree. It gives the Scorpio Turret the ability to periodically fire out supply pickups to resupply players. Pickups come out every 7 seconds for the initial skill upgrade.
The Scorpio Turret periodically fires out supply pickups to resupply players.
Supply drop every (7...3) seconds
This skill allows the user and nearby allies to receive resupply packets, which are launched from the Scorpio Turret and "home" in on the players as they move. These packets resemble small gray boxes, and replenish a player's ammunition and grenades at a fast rate. The packets will travel a great distances to reach players that are moving and will not disappear when the turret does. At least one player must be within missile/packet range for the packets to spawn.
The rate of replenishment seems to be percentage-based on the maximum amount of ammunition the player can hold for that ammunition type, thus ammunition SDUs increases the effectiveness of this skill.
The amount of ammo regenerated is about 8.1%-12.2% of max ammo depending on the type of ammo. The supply drop will regenerate all ammo types simultaneously regardless of what weapon is held. Each packet also regenerates about 1.4 grenades.
This skill is extremely useful to a lone Soldier, as even a single point in this skill is enough to fully support a Heavy Gunner class mod user. In a multiple person team however, the skill loses its effectiveness, as the packets are split between the members. The player will either have to put more points into the skill to support his team, have team members alternate weapon types, or switch to a Support Gunner class mod.
- Increasing the skill level only reduces the delay between supply packets, making the skill point/effectiveness distribution uneven. Observation shows it is best to either stay at level one, or invest up to level 4 or 5.
