smig is the title of a group of common submachine guns, and are manufactured exclusively by bandits. The smig is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
Usage & Description
These weapons can come with a variety of different muzzles or barrels which gives them different properties:
- Tediore - This barrel gives the gun increased reload speed and accuracy at the cost of weapon base damage. This type of submachine gun gets one of the best advantages with Zer0, who can improve accuracy further and can improve reload speed with the skill Killer. Other characters can improve reload speed as well, making this type of smig the fastest reloading SMG of bandit manufacture.
- Bandit - A smig with this type of barrel is less accurate than the other two but it also is the most powerful amongst all other common bandit submachine guns, not only this model type. This type of gun is well suited for any character depending on how they boost it with their skill trees.
- Maliwan - By using the Maliwan muzzle, this weapon gains more accuracy and increased elemental effect chance. Interestingly, the second perk that this barrel offers is technically never available to this weapon because any SMG with a maliwan barrel has a separate gun title depending on the element (see variants below). If it comes without an element it is still called smig.
Since any of these variants come with the larger magazines, Salvador with the Filled to the Brim skill and specially Krieg with the Blood-Filled Guns skill can fire these weapons for extended periods, making it very effective on mobs.

- All the special variants of this weapon (non-common) fire three bullets at the cost of one.
Variants
- Burny - Common submachine gun. This is the title of the smig when it comes with an incendiary Maliwan barrel.
- Barfy - Common submachine gun. This is the title of the smig when it comes with a corrosive Maliwan barrel.
- Shoky - Common submachine gun. This is the title of the smig when it comes with a shock Maliwan barrel.
- Slagy - Common submachine gun. This is the title of the smig when it comes with a slag Maliwan barrel.
- Bone Shredder - Unique submachine gun that fires three bullets at the cost of one with increased damage.
- Slagga - Legendary submachine gun that also fires 3 bullets at the cost of one which always deal slag damage.
- Tattler - Seraph submachine gun. Yet another gun that fires 3 bullets at the cost of one. This one fires slow moving projectiles, always has a fire rate of 7.7 and always comes with the blade accessory.
