Sledge's Shotgun is a legendary shotgun manufactured by Bandit. Sledge's Shotgun is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Smash-Head located in The Fridge. In Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, Sledge's Shotgun has an increased chance to drop from the Gold Golem in the Mines of Avarice.

Special Weapon Effects

The Legend Lives – Burst-fires two shots per trigger pull, with a long delay between each burst, +2 projectile count.

Usage & Description

Sledge's Shotgun is essentially a combination of Bandit and Dahl weapons, with the high magazine of Bandit shotguns, with the burst fire of Dahl weapons, and is similar to the Invader in that regard, where the Reverse Recoil of Hyperion weaponry is combined with the burst fire of Dahl weapons.

Sledge's Shotgun should be used like most other shotguns: close enough to the enemy that all projectiles connect. With the two-round-burst effect and increased pellet count and damage, it is capable of considerable "spike" damage. Unlike all other Bandit shotguns, Sledge's Shotgun will not fire fully automatically while the trigger is held down. This makes the fire rate on its weapon card somewhat misleading, as there is an undescribed pause between each burst, and the trigger must be pulled again to resume firing. This makes it a less viable option for Gunzerkers utilizing Keep Firing...

Notes

  • Beyond the burst-fire effect, there are very few similarities between this shotgun and Sledge's Shotgun from Borderlands. This version of the shotgun lacks the knock-back and the guaranteed bayonet attachment of its predecessor. It is implied that the burst-fire combined with the 2-round magazine of the original Sledge's Shotgun was meant to emulate a double-barrel, so the burst and double barrels present on the Borderlands 2 variant are somewhat redundant. In addition the Gold Plating that was present on the Borderlands version is still present but not on the Barrel like the Borderlands version.
  • Sledge's Shotgun is a returning weapon from Borderlands, though with a different rarity and manufacturer.
  • The only valid prefix for this weapon is "Sledge's", regardless of accessories, grips or elemental capacitors.
  • A hotfix on 10/14/13 as part of the Borderlands 2 $100,000 Loot Hunt gave Sledge's Shotgun and all other bandit shotguns one more shot in the magazine and a slightly faster reload.
