Skeleton Archers appear as long range enemies throughout Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, from the very first enemy encounter, among mixed mobs of hostile skeletons.
Skeleton Archers primarily attack from a distance using bows that fire arrows in a long arching trajectory. The damage output for each arrow is quite high, although this is offset by a slow rate for fire, and a slow projectile speed that makes them relatively easy to evade at long range. The arrows have a significant impact and any character sprinting towards an archer will be momentarily halted when hit by one.
Skeleton Archers are not especially tough, but their bony structure gives them a small target profile, particularly below the rib cage. Their heads and shoulders are protected by spangenhelms and pauldrons respectively, and these provide an ablative defence that completely absorb a hit before falling away to expose the bone underneath. A Skeleton Archer's critical hit location is its skull, and this will sustain damage up to half the skeleton's health before being blasted away. Despite this, any decapitated Skeleton Archer will continue to fight on until it is completely destroyed. A decapitated Skeleton Archer might also attack nearby enemies, causing them to retaliate.
Like most skeletons, Skeleton Archers are resistant to incendiary damage, but suffer increased melee damage (+50%).
- In True Vault Hunter Mode they are renamed Deadeye Skeleton Archer, and in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode they are renamed Master Skeleton Archer.
- Zer0's Execute can sometimes be blocked by the helmet, i.e. after Execute hits, the helmet is knocked away, but the Skeleton Archer takes no damage.
- Destroying a Skeleton Archer counts towards the Bone Breaker challenge in the challenge list.
