Relight The Beacons is an optional mission in Borderlands given by Helena Pierce. It becomes available after Jaynistown: Secret Rendezvous is complete.
Background
- "While Dahl still maintained a strong presence on Pandora, they operated two interplanetary beacons, used by interstellar craft for navigation and communication. Recently, bandits have taken up residence around the beacon stations, shutting them down in the process. Somebody needs to get out there and clean the bandit infestation out of those stations, and reactivate the beacons."
Walkthrough
Objectives
- Reactivate both beacon towers.
- North Ridge beacon activated
- Overlook beacon activated
Strategy
The North Ridge beacon is located along the western side of Rust Commons East, and just south of the Underpass. Much of the distance to the beacon site can be covered by a Runner before heading through the encampment on foot. Bandits will ambush from various points around the installation. The switch to reactivate the beacon lies on the far side of the camp from the entrance.
The Overlook beacon is located in the eastern portion of the Rust Commons East, and just north of Jaynistown. Take a Runner to the beacon site before heading through the encampment on foot. Bandits will ambush from various points around the installation. The switch to reactivate the beacon lies on the far side of the camp from the entrance.
In both cases, the cliff top beacon sites overlook the Middle of Nowhere. One method of completing this mission is to throw the switch and simply dive off the cliff before running back to the Middle of Nowhere. This method is helpful if the Runner used to reach the site is no longer available, or if the bandit opposition becomes too intense to fight back out of. The path back to the Middle of Nowhere is clear enough for a relatively safe run.
Return to Helena Pierce for the reward.
