Projectile Recursion is a legendary shotgun in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Maliwan. It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
Special Weapon Effects
See green text for description.
See red text for description. – Increased elemental damage. Fires a highly accurate beam that will bounce to multiple targets.
Usage & Description
The Projectile Recursion deals high elemental damage with extreme precision, functioning more like a sniper rifle than a shotgun. The particle beam fired by the weapon will attempt to seek out secondary targets upon hitting an enemy, and it can chain to multiple enemies in a single shot. Its main drawback is its high ammo consumption. Care should also be taken when using this weapon in missions where killing a certain amount of enemies is required, as it may launch enemies through walls or out of bounds (such as slaughter shaft), making completion impossible.
Notes
- The Projectile Recursion must charge between each shot, making its actual fire rate much lower than listed.
- Class Mods and other effects that lower weapon charge time will help to achieve its true fire rate.
- Before the July 23th 2020 hotfix, each "extra damage" ("extra damage after action skill end" anointments on weapon, shield, grenade, and Amara's Forceful Expression) would spawn an extra shot after the initial impact, making it very effective when used by Amara or Moze (extra incendiary damage on a critical hit). Now the ricochet amount is limited to the initial impact amount and the maximum bounce is reduced to 4.
Trivia
- The Projectile Recursion's two flavor texts form a circular reference, which is a type of recursion.
