Professor Nakayama is the primary antagonist of Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt. He is distraught after the death of his idol, Handsome Jack, and attempts to clone him on the continent of Aegrus. His obsession leads him to a conflict with the Vault Hunters, commenting on how he feels it makes him "as cool as Jack" for fighting Jack's former nemesis'.

Nakayama is a small, wiry man with a multitude of Eridium fragments protruding from his skin. He has enhanced himself further by grafting on a robotic weapon appendage protruding from his back and over his right shoulder.

Although Nakayama tries to act tough and cocky multiple times, he gets nervous extremely easily and becomes terrified of the Vault Hunters as the story progresses. This is shown several times such as when the Vault Hunters kill Woundspike upon which he will start whimpering and causing Sir Hammerlock to tell him to, "Suck it up man!". He also gets flabbergasted when the Vault Hunters kill his group of Elite Savages to which he will respond with, "WHAT! But those were literally my best guys!".

After the Vault Hunters slay Jackenstein in the H.S.S. Terminus, Nakayama reveals himself. He states that, while he is quite terrified of having to face the Vault Hunters, he believes that he still has a chance against them. Before he can attack, however, he loses his balance and falls down a Digistructed ramp, breaking his neck in the process.

Trivia

  • Nakayama isn't particularly very bright in terms of common sense when he places his precious DNA samples in easy to reach safes. He also has a habit of unintentionally telling his plans in advance to the Vault Hunters and as a result, gets frustrated with himself.
  • When Nakayama loses his balance, the game will proceed to show his Boss Health Bar at the top of the screen and give control back to the player(s). The player(s) however, need not do anything as Nakayama will tumble down the ramp and lose a large chunk of health each time he impacts on the ramp. He will comically lose the rest of his health this way until he reaches the bottom of the ramp, and with a final "Ohgodwhy?!" he breaks his neck and is instantly killed.
  • This makes Professor Nakayama possibly one of the easiest 'boss' fights in the game.
