For the bullymong boss of the similar name in Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, see The Bulwark.

Prismatic Bulwark is a legendary absorb shield in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manufactured by Hyperion. It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Colonel Zarpedon located in Eye of Helios and The Empyrean Sentinel located in Eleseer.

Special Shield Effects[]

Full spectrum. – Increased capacity and reduced recharge delay. Has a high chance to absorb enemy lasers. Increases the user's laser damage and provides laser resistance.

Usage & Description[]

The Prismatic Bulwark is a laser-focused absorb shield, with its traits encouraging the wearer to focus on using and absorbing lasers. As a result of its increased laser resistance and high chance of absorbing them (almost 50% of the time), the Prismatic Bulwark works excellently in areas with outlaws or Lost Legion Laser Specialists/Eternals. It also boosts laser damage, which works especially well with Wilhelm due to his Laser Focus skill already buffing laser damage. Any other class can also take advantage as they can have varying synergies with laser weapons.

However, unlike standard absorb shields, the Prismatic Bulwark can only absorb lasers; this means that bullets and other sources of damage will never be absorbed. This, alongside lasers being a rather uncommon weapon for enemies, makes other absorb shields more effective if the laser damage increase is not taken advantage of.

Notes[]

  • The Prismatic Bulwark used to have a bug where the laser damage bonus was not applied properly.

Trivia[]

  • The name is based on how it is specialized against lasers, as the term "Prismatic" is defined as "Resembling a Prism" with real-life prisms being able to distort and redirect light. "Bulwark" can be used as a term for a defensive wall.
  • Although the Prismatic Bulwark is manufactured by Hyperion, it uses the body of a Vladof absorb shield and Torgue's checkerboard pattern as its skin.
    • Despite being a Legendary shield, it does not possesses the orange core commonly found on them and instead has a purple one.
