Polybius is a legendary shotgun in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Tediore. It is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from GenIVIV located in Voracious Canopy on Eden-6.
Special Weapon Effects[]
21. 11. 33. 14. 24. 42. – Always elemental. Fixed magazine size of 8. Fires in a 4x4 grid pattern, beginning with four sets of four descending projectiles in a horizontal line, followed by four sets of 4 projectiles in a vertical line.
Usage & Description[]
The Polybius has mediocre damage, but reasonable fire rate for a shotgun, allowing it to deal significant damage if aimed accurately. This may be difficult due to the grid fire pattern, and its high fire rate and low damage makes it burn through ammo extremely quickly, which makes the weapon's utility questionable at best.
The Polybius may spawn with varying Tediore reload effects as indicated by the weapon parts.
Notes[]
Trivia[]
- Polybius is a reference to the Polybius Square, a method of cryptography which changes letters into numbers. In this case, the numbers 21. 11. 33. 14. 24. 42. translates to the word Fandir.
- Fandir is a reference to the Mysterious Amulet in the Borderlands 2 DLC: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, which mentions Fandir upon completion of the quest The Amulet. The name Fandir also appears in the flavor text of the Striker, a shotgun in Borderlands 2.
