Plunkett is a unique sniper rifle in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manufactured by Jakobs.
It is a possible reward for completing Digistructed Madness: Round 5 and Digistructed Madness: The Badass Round in The Holodome Onslaught. It can also be dropped by Guardian Pondors and Lost Legion Eternal Powersuits.
Usage & Description[]
Make sure they know the first one wasn't an accident. – Critical hits consume spare ammo.
Usage & Description[]
The Plunkett's unique ability is useful in fights where reloading at the inopportune time can mean life or death, but it is only effective in specific circumstances due to the weapon's very low fire rate.
Nisha's Crack Shot and Claptrap's One Last Thing both work well with this weapon, since they grant bonus gun damage depending on magazine level, but effectively only persists for one particular shot. As Plunkett drains spare ammo on critical hits, they can maintain said bonuses for much longer provided if they continue to score critical hits.
Nisha's Tombstone skill, which grants all shots a chance to trigger critical hits for a few seconds on kill, can also work with the Plunkett in case if it does not score a critical hit on an enemy.
Notes[]
- The Plunkett is one of the few guns that have unique white text on the weapon's card: "Critical hits remove bullets directly from your ammo pool instead of the weapon."
- The Plunkett was first shown in a promotional image for The Holodome Onslaught, along with the T4s-R, Cry Baby, Party Line, Boxxy Gunn and Berrigan.
Trivia[]
- The name refers to Thomas Plunket, an Irish soldier in the British army 95th Rifles regiment. He is remembered for a feat at the Battle of Cacabelos in 1809, where he shot the French general at a range of ~600 meters (2,000 ft) using a Baker rifle.
