Playing Dirty is a tier 4 passive skill in Zane's Hitman skill tree. With this skill learned, after Zane kills an enemy, each of his next five shots has a chance to fire one additional projectile.

The skill is ineffective with SMGs, assault rifles, and a majority of pistols as the five extra bullets from an assault rifle or SMG per kill do not justify the skill point(s) spent. The same goes for Mashers and high pellet count shotguns as the skill only adds an extra pellet, not an extra shot; 40 x 10 damage becomes 40 x 11.
However this skill proves extremely useful with high damage per bullet weapons such as: Jakobs sniper rifles and pistols, Torgue pistols, rocket and grenade launchers and many other weapons, namely The Lob, One Pump Chump, Kill-o'-the-Wisp, Headsplosion and Amazing Grace.
The additional pellet is fired with a small deviation in angle, but this only noticeable with slow-moving projectiles, such as The Lob. With the majority of other weapons, the spread is so tight that the spread is almost undetectable, allowing for easy double crits with sniper rifles, pistols, etc.
