Pitchfork is a legendary sniper rifle in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manufactured by Dahl.
In Borderlands 2, Pitchfork is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Terramorphous the Invincible located in Terramorphous Peak.
In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, it is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.

Special Weapon Effects[]

Mainstream'd! – Fires 5 shots in a horizontal line. Fires a 4-round burst (5 if the gun stock is Dahl) when zoomed in. Consumes 2 ammo per shot. Reduced damage. Increased accuracy and magazine size.

Usage & Description[]

Despite the reduced damage per shot. the Pitchfork is capable of much higher damage per ammo spent when compared to other Dahl sniper rifles, assuming that all 5 projectiles hit their mark. One downside is the significantly increased ammo consumption, as it burns through sniper reserves at twice the rate.

When trying to lead shots on enemies moving laterally, the spread greatly increases the chance of landing a critical hit. Aiming up or down during the burst can also help to score a hit on fast-moving targets.

The Pitchfork's projectile pattern makes it effective against loaders and large bosses like The Warrior and Terramorphous the Invincible.

Notes[]

  • As the Pitchfork's extra projectiles are not listed on the item card, every projectile will receive a full damage boost from an amplify shield.

Trivia[]

  • The name and flavor text is a reference to the 'Borderlands is for Real Gamers' video, starring a fictionalized version of Gearbox president Randy Pitchford. The flavor text is a direct quote from the video.
  • This weapon was first shown in IGN's 'Gunzerker Class Preview' and was the earliest leaked weapon.
  • The Pitchfork's projectile pattern makes it a great choice for completing the "No Scope, No Problem" and "Leaf on the Second Wind" sniper rifle challenges.
