Out of Body Experience involves salvage and restoration attempts for Loader #1340's AI, who had a change of mind and decided to side with the Vault Hunters. However, it being uncapable

Background

"You have blasted out my AI core. I require a new shell. There is a broken Constructor bot in the Bloodshot Dam; insert me into it and I will repay you."

Walkthrough

Objectives

  • Pick up AI core
  • Install AI core
  • Pick up AI core
  • Install AI core
  • Find radio
  • Destroy radio

Strategy

Upon returning to the Bloodshot Stronghold after Roland has been rescued, a marauder and a wrecked EXP loader are spawned, with the bandit repeatedly kicking the robot. An AI core with serial number 1340 can then be discovered amid the wreckage of the robot once this has been dealt with. Picking up the AI core triggers the start of the mission.

  • The first body is a constructor. 1340 will promptly attack upon being installed into it. The constructor presents a slow-moving target and is unshielded, so it can be quickly reduced to scrap, once again leaving the AI core behind for the Vault Hunter to retrieve.
  • The next body, a WAR loader, presents a tougher challenge. It may require some well placed critical hits to bring down and corrosive damage helps with quickly reducing its structural integrity. After it's destroyed, 1340 drops and needs to be picked up. This was the last fighting part of the mission.
  • The third body is the radio in Moxxi's. Installing the AI core will cause the radio to attempt to kill the patrons with horribly off-key obnoxious singing. At that point 1340 must be retrieved by destroying the radio. 1340 then gets tired of his own faliures to control his demands, and requests to be turned in to Marcus in exchange for Shotgun 1340, or to Dr. Zed in exchange for 1340 Shield. Both items are unique in that 1340 will have quotes depending on how the item is interacted with. Once turned in, the mission ends.
  • Expect a lot of deaths and ammo usage as well as fighting, due to the fact that Bloodshot Stronghold must be fought through again in order to gain access to Bloodshot Ramparts, and by then there'd still be a lot of enemies and the robots that 1340 activated. This is like that story mission of rescuing Roland - done a second time.

Completion

"You helped Loader #1340 find a new body. May his overly murderous programming be a boon to you in the coming battles."

Turn In: Marcus or Dr. Zed

Notes

  • Text of 'A.I. Core' ('Loader #1340 A.I. Core') item: An A.I. Core with #1340 engraved on the enclosure.
  • If the WAR loader's wreck is approached before the constructor objective has been completed, it will display the attachment point for the AI core and exhibit an interaction prompt, but cannot be interacted with as the player currently does not have 1340 in their possession.
