Nova Shields are a common shield in Borderlands 2. Elemental Nova Shields are manufactured by Maliwan, while explosive Nova Shields are manufactured by Torgue. The Nova Shield is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
Usage & Description
A Nova Shield produces a large explosion when depleted, causing elemental damage to all enemies in the blast radius. It must recharge fully in order to produce another Nova; if only partially depleted it will not trigger again.
Nova Shields are best suited to melee-focused character builds who spend a lot of their time among enemies; the Nova is an excellent tool to prime enemies for getting Second Winds.
Variants
- Deadly Bloom - Unique explosive nova shield which also generates a nova explosion when health is depleted.
- Black Hole - Legendary shock nova shield that pulls nearby enemies towards the wearer when its shield charge is depleted as well as generating a huge blast.
- Flame of the Firehawk - Legendary fire nova shield which triggers nova explosions constantly after being depleted.
