Special Weapon Effects
Death rains from above – Greatly increased damage and reload speed. Fires airburst rockets which explode after a set distance, damaging nearby enemies and releasing six smaller rockets at a 90 degree angle from the original rocket.
Usage & Description
The Nidhogg is a highly technical rocket launcher, capable of extreme damage if used properly. Its high accuracy is partially betrayed by its airburst effect, which limits it from being used beyond mid-range. However, good distance judgment and practice can make the Nidhogg an incredibly devastating weapon. Each child rocket inflicts the same amount of damage as its parent, and any enemies unfortunate enough to be caught under all six are unlikely to survive the bombardment.
Additionally, the Nidhogg can be used to great effect as a mid-range, direct-fire rocket launcher due to its high damage, low ammo consumption and quick reload speed. This forfeits the damage potential of its special effect, but is a significantly easier way to use the weapon.
- Nidhogg is an Anglicization of the name of a powerful dragon from Norse mythology, said to gnaw at the roots of the world-tree Yggdrasil, destined to collect the corpses of the fallen during Ragnarök and take them to the underworld.
The Nidhogg effect comes from the barrel2_Hyperion_Nidhogg barrel, which is based on barrel2_2shot. The legendary part adds a massive boost to damage and greatly reduces reload time. For an explanation on how to interpret the information on the following table, please see the stat modifiers page.
