The Nidhogg is a Legendary Rocket Launcher manufactured by Hyperion.

Special Weapon Effects
Death rains from above - Airburst Rockets. After about 60 yards the main rocket explodes, damaging nearby enemies and releasing six more smaller rockets at a 90 degree angle from the original rocket. Increased damage and fast reload.
Usage & Description
The Nidhogg is a difficult to use Rocket Launcher. Its high accuracy is not put to good use due to its short-ranged air burst effect. The same effect which makes usage difficult because it requires good judgement in part of the user of the distance to the enemy. However, if one does catch a group of enemies with the air burst, the effects would be devastating due to the Nidhogg's high damage potential and the smaller rockets dealing the same damage as the initial rocket.
Ironically, instead of trying to use the weapon's special effect, the Nidhogg can really shine as a simple mid range direct-fire Rocket Launcher: It has a single shot damage comparable to that of the Redemption, fast reload, carries 2 rockets, and only consumes 1 rocket per shot.
Trivia
- Nidhogg is the name of the mighty Dragon of Death from Norse mythology, who constantly gnaws at the roots of the world-tree Yggdrasil. It is told that Nidhogg exists even beyond Ragnarök (twilight of the gods) to collect the corpses of the fallen and take them to the underworld. See Wikipedia: Níðhöggr.
