Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is a downloadable content pack for Borderlands 3. It adds a new story campaign, new locations and enemies.

Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot was officially announced with a teaser trailer on November 14th, 2019, a gameplay trailer released on November 20th, 2019 with the DLC name and release date shown and then officially released on December 19th, 2019. It is included within the Borderlands 3 Season Pass, (or is available for individual purchase at US$14.99).

Plot

The expansion starts with Handsome Jack in a commercial for the casino explaining various parts of the casino, this leads into Moxxi declaring her desire to gain the casino for herself, as it was created for her by handsome jack and is her personal way to finally get over her and jack. The Vault Hunter enters the casino via tractor beam, walking in the entrance with a slot machine motif and is detected as a vault hunter by a jack voiced entrance, and becomes in debt via destroying the released loaders. The Vault Hunter slowly follows along killing multiple gang leaders, until he learns of Pretty Boy, the man that has taken over the casino since it had locked down after handsome Jacks death. Eventually the vault hunter comes across a man being hunted by him and locked in a room. The trapped man is eventually revealed to be Timothy Lawrence a Handsome Jack body double. Timothy Lawrence has the Vault hunter repair a module that allows Jack body doubles to teleport. The Vault Hunter at timothy's hideout has Moxxi appear to speak to timothy, expressing her distrust of him and their past history as being used as a jack double for a date with her pretending to be jack. Timothy informs the Vault Hunter that pretty boy is after his "winning Hand" a cybernetic hand that all jack doubles have that give them nearly full access privileges, the only privilege they aren't given is the ability to leave the casino. To raid the tower timothy helps get the codes to disable the bomb in his face so he can leave the casino. He sends the vault hunter to the Vice district to gain the help of Ember a Pyromaniac and pyrotechnical expert, eventually doing so via gaining information from multiple dancers. Ember sends the vault hunter to the impound lot to find her ship which has her tools, after a long arduous battle of tedium with impound lot paperwork and forms, the vault hunter reaches it along with the partially insane bot tinkerer named Freddie. Freddie promises to hack the ship so the vault hunter can retrieve the tools, if they retrieve his robot friend from the larboard Brusiers, doing so, freddie also joins the plan as a hacking expert. Timothy declares that they need a Duplicate of handsome jacks suit, and sends the vault hunter to handsome jacks tailor, who has then become the mayor of a capitalism free society in the trash compactor named Trashlantis. The Mayor agrees to help if the vault hunter helps repair a Constructor bot to repair the giant girder that jams the trash compactor keeping Trashlantis from being destroyed. Freddie agrees to make the necessary parts and program the robot, the vault hunter retrieves the power cores from discarded loader bots and fights a surviving nest of feral claptrap units before taking the Ai chip from the giant "ScrapTrap Prime". The Vault Hunter repairs the Constructor, and is tasked with escorting it through the traitorous Tony Bordel's territory, eventually making it to the end and killing him and his gang. The constructor eventually warms up to the task and its allies with the intervention of Freddie increasing its bravery and attempts to repair the girder, realising it wont be enough, it, with the assurance that it is a friend of the mayor, "sacrifices" itself by embedding itself in the pillar, it actuality it survives but becomes immobile. The recruited allies come together for the main plan of the heist of the main tower of the casino, Moxxi gives Timothy the duty of explaining the plan, Timothy explains each step of the plan with the vault hunter simultaneously doing it in a heist movie-esq montage retrieving necessary materials like handsome jacks suit. The player then enters Jacks secret, the core of the facility to shut down the turrets and security of the facility when, Freddie kidnaps timothy to give him to pretty boy and declares that humans are untrustworthy. the vault hunter is forced to continue on without timothy while pretty boy uses timothy's hand to activate the robot factory facilities to gain an army of loaders. The player moves through the factory where they destroy the robot fabricator. This leads the vault hunter back to the tower where they begin the raid on the tower, killing multiple lackeys and ascending floors, they are faced with Freddie once more given a posse of robot "buds", the vault hunter kills him and procedes to ascend to the top floor once more. They reach timothy locked in a laser cage, and pretty boy, who enters a handsome jack mech. The bot is destroyed multiple times having pretty boy pay a fee to repair it multiple times using all his money before taking a "high interest" payment method, which makes robot start to cool using pretty boy's blood, and the mech is eventually destroyed along with pretty boy dying from blood loss. Pretty boy in a last ditch effort activates the "screw you i'm rich" protocol causing the casino to fly towards a black hole, timothy cannot reach the scanner for the winning hand to disable it and cannot escape the cage. Timothy asks the vault hunter to leave while they still can, but Moxxi having warmed up to him, refuses to let him die. Timothy desperate to save everyone, using the lasers of the cage, cuts his winning hand off for the vault hunter to end the protocol and save the ship with. The ship back to normal, Moxxi enters to take it over, letting timothy go and revealing she knew it was timothy and not handsome jack the entire date they had many years ago. Timothy feeling much more confident leaves the casino, while Moxxie reduces all the patrons debt to zero and destroys the holographic jack head at the front of the casino, renaming the casino to Moxxi's Big Score.
