Mad Mel is one of the bandit bosses that you will face. He drives a Monster around a circular arena.
Background
Mad Mel is the leader of the bandits in the Dahl Headlands. Lucky will tell the player that Scooter has not been able to fix the Fast Travel network because the road has been blocked by Mad Mel and his bandits.
Involvement
The road to New Haven goes through an arena which Mad Mel controls. Mad Mel must be defeated for the story to proceed any further.

- Mad Mel's name is a fusion of Mad Max and Mel Gibson, the title of a popular post-apocalyptic movie, and the actor who portrayed the titular character of Max. The text describing the mission to kill Mad Mel also refers to him as a "lethal weapon behind the wheel of any vehicle;" Mel Gibson starred in the Lethal Weapon series of action films.
- Mad Mel strongly resembles Lord Humungous, the main antagonist of Mad Max 2.
- He looks like a badass brute.
- Mad Mel and his vehicle look similar to the character "Minion" in Twisted Metal: Black, since Minion drives a large truck and both he and Mel have similar appearances.
- Mad Mel will not respawn in Playthrough 2.5, unlike most bosses.
