Love Drill is a unique pistol in Borderlands 3 manufactured by Jakobs. It is obtained from the mission The Call of Gythian located in Negul Neshai, on Xylourgos.

Special Weapon Effects

To have and to hold... – -25% weapon damage. +200% critical damage. -50% accuracy bloom. Critical hits return 1 bullet to the magazine. Fixed parts.

Usage & Description

The Love Drill can compared to the Unforgiven, as it shares an extremely high critical damage but not its firing speed penalty. However, unlike the Unforgiven, the critical damage bonus on the Love Drill is additive with other such bonuses, rather than multiplicative. In addition, due to its unique sight, it can never spawn with a scope. The Love Drill does, however, possess a higher base damage than the scoped Unforgiven (and only slightly lower than an unscoped Unforgiven), and returns rounds to the magazine on critical hit, which still allowed it to tear through enemies with large or easily-targeted critical spots, as the player can continue firing indefinitely as long as they continue to score critical hits.

This Love Drill is more limited against regular enemies, as the Love Drill still has the heavy recoil of a standard Jakobs firearm, and its unique sight also makes it difficult to aim accurately. This makes it more effective for close encounters compared to the Unforgiven, which can excel at medium range.

Notes

• This unique version of the Love Drill is part of a pair of weapons, the other being the Love Drill that is a rare drop from defeating Eleanor. It is differentiated by its rarity and weapon skin, and is considered the inferior of the pair, as it has a lower critical damage bonus, does not have the chance to deal double shock damage, returns only a single round to the magazine on critical hit, and has a more limited part set available.
• The Love Drill has a unique sight in the shape of a hovering diamond. The bullets still fire aligned with the iron sights when zoomed in, with the diamond essentially just acting as visual noise.

Trivia

• The flavor text refers to the vows said during a wedding ceremony. The text is the first half of the quote, with the full quote being "To have and to hold... till death do us depart". The latter half of the quote is found on the legendary version of the weapon.
• The Love Drill is one of the few weapons that shares the exact same name as another weapon in one game (that being its pairing).
