Lance Probe

A mid-air Lance Probe

Lance Probes are flying robots that the Crimson Lance use to guard areas against unauthorized personnel (including you). They are often encountered when on highways or other areas that can be explored in a vehicle, especially before roadblocks. They will often say humorous Atlas slogans.

Involvement

The player is required to destroy five Lance Probes around T-Bone Junction in the side mission Big Crimson Brother is Watching.

Strategy

• In the early stages of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, Lance Probes are high enough in level that when they swarm player characters, they can easily kill.
• If just traveling between areas, using a vehicle to speed past Probes is advisable. The Probes won't have enough time to attack and are easily avoidable. Stopping during this tactic will allow multiple Probes to spawn and all of the bypassed Probes to catch up.
• Lance Probes have powerful shields, but have low health. As with Guardians, a player using Mordecai with maxed Trespass dispatches them easily, and Shock weapons can destroy them easily.
• A moderately strong shotgun can take them out in 2-3 hits on the first and second playthrough.
• The Monster's homing rockets are quite effective. Lock-on as soon as a Probe appears and just keeping driving and firing.
