- The red text is a Latin phrase meaning 'Love conquers all', penned by the Roman poet Virgil in his poem Eclogues, Chapter X, Verse 69.
- The name could be a reference to Chaucer's General Prologue. The character of the prioress wears a ring bearing this inscription. She is described as a very prim and proper lady, hence the name Lady Finger.
- The name, 'Lady Finger', could be a reference to the banana by the name of 'Lady Finger', and named therefore because people often use banana as a gag gun.
