The KerBlaster is a Legendary Assault Rifle manufactured by Torgue. It makes its first appearance in Borderlands 2.

Special Weapon Effects

Torgue got more BOOM!  – Consumes 4 ammo per shot. Each shot fires one projectile which has a straight trajectory and explodes on impact. The explosion releases a grenade which also explodes one second later.

Usage & Description

The KerBlaster has a lot going for it. It's damage is on par with Sniper Rifles of equivalent level and its accuracy is exceptional for an Assault Rifle in Borderlands 2. However, the KerBlaster's ammunition consumption, slower projectile velocity, magazine size, and special effect dictate that it should be used differently from its non-legendary counterparts.

The largest magazine that can spawn on a KerBlaster holds 28 rounds, and since it consumes 4 ammo per round expended, that means a maximum of 7 rounds before the user has to reload the gun. For that reason, in addition to the KerBlaster's special effect of projectiles dropping a grenade upon making impact with anything solid, it is wise to aim at the desired target and empty the magazine as fast as possible. If the user's shots did not kill the selected target when they are done firing, the 7 grenades in the target's immediate vicinity will.

The slowed projectile velocity can make it difficult to hit moving enemies, often requiring the user to lead or even try to predict where the target may seek cover next. That being said the KerBlaster excels doing damage to enemies wielding a shield, but also the user can effectively lob grenades to damage enemies behind cover.

Drop Guide

Notes

  • Because the projectiles are considered bullets, ammo regeneration works just as fast as it would for other combat rifles.
  • Unlike other Torgue weapons, firing in close proximity to friends and foes will result in damage from both the projectile itself, and the following grenade.
  • The grenades produced by the KerBlaster's special effect are lethal to both friend and foe.
  • The KerBlaster's kills count towards grenade-based Badass Challenges, specifically "Pull the Pin."
  • The grenades and projectiles themselves do equivalent damage to targets. If a round striking a target deals 50,000 damage, the grenade that drops will also do 50,000 damage.
