While the Invader's special effect on its own is rather common (seen on all Dahl weapons), due to the fact that it is on a Hyperion rifle, the burst becomes more accurate and more stable as the burst moves through its 5-round cycle. For the weapons of the same name, see Invader.

Invader is a legendary sniper rifle in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manufactured by Hyperion.

In Borderlands 2, Invader is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Saturn located in Arid Nexus - Badlands.
In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Invader is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.

Special Weapon Effects

The Executioner has arrived. – Fires a burst of 5 rounds when scoped. Greatly reduced damage. Greatly increased magazine size and reload speed.

Usage & Description

While the Invader's special effect on its own is common (seen on all Dahl weapons), it has the added benefit of also having Hyperion's reverse recoil gimmick. This makes the last shot of the burst the most accurate whereas other burst fire weapons become less accurate throughout the burst.

The Invader's damage is rather poor for a sniper rifle, but the combined burst fire and reverse recoil effect helps to offset this with a high damage-per-second when focused on a critical target of an enemy. The Invader will always score at least one shot with pinpoint accuracy and can maintain the pinpoint accuracy when sniping multiple enemies in quick succession.

The Invader can be difficult to use practically due to its extreme ammunition consumption. This can be partially offset by equipping a Stockpile or Blood of the Ancients relic that increases the limit for sniper rifle ammo and an Absorb Shield.

An Invader with elemental damage will almost always inflict a DoT effect on any suitable enemy with a burst. A shock variant can decimate shields while a slag variant will allow extra damage to be inflicted if used with a 'Slag & Swap' tactic.

Notes

  • If the Invader is fired immediately after zooming in, a bug removes the reverse recoil effect. This bug can be negated if the user fires at least 2 seconds after zooming in.

Trivia

  • A SHiFT code for a single Venture Invader is included in the Diamond Plate Loot Chest. The item card caption reads: "It's burst-fire (like a Dahl), but more accurate (like a Hyperion). Which will make you damn deadly at long ranges (like a sniper)."
  • The flavor text refers to the original Invader sniper rifle in Borderlands. It was supposed to be called the "Executioner" but ended up with the wrong title due to a code bug.
    • The red color scheme is also a throwback to the original weapon, which was dark red.
