Hellfire is a legendary submachine gun in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manufactured by Maliwan.
The Hellfire can be obtained from any suitable loot source, but has a higher chance to drop from Scorch in Frostburn Canyon and The Raid on Digistruct Peak, as well as from Sully the Blacksmith.

Special Weapon Effects

We don't need no fire... – Always spawns as an incendiary weapon. Increased elemental effect chance, effect damage, and magazine size. 50% splash damage.

Usage & Description

While the Hellfire does have excellent damage per shot compared to other submachine guns in Borderlands 2, the elemental damage it outputs truly displays its strength. The combination of high rate of fire, ignition chance and burn damage makes the Hellfire an excellent choice of weaponry.

The common varieties of bandits, and other fleshy enemies, will quickly be incinerated due to the sheer amount of burn damage the Hellfire can inflict. But it's not just common enemies that it's limited to; if used on a character with the right skills and attributes, the Hellfire is powerful enough to take out larger enemies – perhaps even Bosses.

The Hellfire excels at medium range and can be sprayed upon multiple enemies, sharing out burn damage. However, It would be wiser to build up as much fire damage onto a single target as possible and then let them burn to death.

Notes

  • Krieg can make exceptional use of the Hellfire, as he has many skills in the Hellborn tree that can further increase the effectiveness of the weapon. Its high rate of fire and ignition chance gives Krieg more opportunities to set himself alight, making great use of his skills.
  • Occasionally, the burning status effect will only inflict a single point of damage per tick.
  • The Hellfire's damage is boosted by grenade damage bonuses.
