The Hardened skill is the core of Brick's strength as the toughest of the four playable characters in Borderlands, giving him the benefit of always having the highest pool of health points and increasing the effectiveness of all his other tanking abilities.
Aside from a direct boost to survivability, the boost in maximum HP granted by Hardened indirectly benefits healing rate of natural Berserk regeneration and healing provided by the Blood Sport skill, which regenerates a percentage of maximum HP (As opposed to the Tediore line of Shields, which will regenerate health at a fixed rate of speed).
