Depending on the players level, there are two main strategies to use against the Gluttonous Thresher. For lower level/equal level players, it is best to use an incindiary sniper, a normal or electric gun, and a longbow/rubberized grendade of some sort. Run close enough to the Thresher so loaders can spawn, then run away. Hopefully, the Thresher will attack the loaders instead of you, and the combined fire of your snipe and the loaders should whittle his health away fast enough so that when it inevitably turns on you, a Jakobs shotgun should dispatch it with ease.

For higher level players, the Thresher can be charged with a shotgun, assault rifle, or an SMG. (Pistols may work, depending on the Vault Hunters playstyle, but typically are not the best choice.) Fill the beast with lead and hide behind the various crates as you reload. (Be wary, however, becuae the Gluttonous Thresher can pick up these crates and remove them from the area.)

The Gluttonous Thresher is fought during the final part of Bright Lights, Flying City. It possesses a shield and powerful projectile attacks, as well as tentacle attacks.

Involvement

In order to return to Sanctuary, the Vault Hunters need to acquire a lunar beacon, but upon reaching the location of the beacon, this giant thresher rears out of the ground and swallows the device. The Gluttonous Thresher must then be killed in order to recover it.
