Frozen Heart is a legendary shield manufactured by Anshin in Borderlands 3. It is obtained as a random drop from Aurelia Hammerlock in Blackbarrel Cellars on Eden-6.
Special Effects[]
I feel... cold. – Grants cryo resistance. Releases a cryo nova when depleted, which damages and freezes enemies. Returns 30% of nova damage dealt as health. Fixed parts.
Usage & Description[]
The Frozen Heart is effective for close-range health builds due to its perks. Fittingly, it is excellent for Zane due to his abundance of cryo-enhancing skills.
A Frozen heart with the "On Action Skill Start - Activate any effects that trigger on shield break or fill." anointment is extremely powerful, capable of freezing enemies constantly if the player is using actions skills with short cooldowns such as FL4K's Rakk Attack! or Zane's MNTIS Shoulder Cannon. Frozen Hearts with this anointment are often considered among the best shields in the game.
Notes[]
- The chance of freezing an enemy solid with the Frozen Heart's Nova is near 100%.
- The Frozen Heart is very similar to the Frozen Snowshoe shield. While the Frozen Snowshoe might look almost identical to the Frozen Heart at first glance (besides the added sliding bonus of the Frozen Snowshoe), the Frozen Heart has better stats but has fixed parts and cannot spawn with any shield augments like vagabond or absorb.
Trivia[]
- The flavor text is a reference to the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. When Captain Barbossa is fatally shot right as his curse is broken, he says, having not felt anything in years, "I feel... cold."
