Say you pick up a gun with 100 X 12 shotgun, does that mean it is a 1200 damage shotgun? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.163.105 (talkcontribs) 23:43, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

It could potentially do 1200 damage, but it is hard to make all 12 of the shots hit with the low accuracy of most shotguns (unless you are very close to the target). Freed23 00:39, January 7, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, as Freed23 said, it means each shell fired sends 12 pellets of shot out of your weapon, each doing 100 damage... so it could also potentially be effective at a distance, against an enemy like the Rakk Hive.  LobStoR name  talk  contribs  11:17, January 7, 2010 (UTC)
And this is why "+2 Projectiles Fired" (x11/x12) would be preferred over x7, even with a lower power level. With x7, each pellet that misses is a 14% loss in damage potential. Combine that with a low accuracy (say below 40%) and you're playing with fire with opponents at distance. Don't think of it as 'accuracy' with shotguns - think of it as 'stand-off distance'. With a higher accuracy level, you take the head off a charging pyscho well before he gets within his striking distance. It's also why Legendaries like TK's Wave, Hydra, Friendly Fire, Hammer should be avoided. They're nice to fool around with ... for awhile but can't be depended upon. So are you saying that the damage from each bullet will add up to 1200 is each hit 100% successful?

Exactly. Freed23 01:59, January 8, 2010 (UTC)
