Forums: Index > Watercooler > Proposal: Dropdown Skills Navboxes

Skill navboxes are bulky and takes up large amount of space, so I made this one.

Now my wiki-fu is still white belt, so I want to see what people think

I thought about redoing these. The skill names are quite long now though, so I'm of the opinion that ditching this format and using the other nav style would be the better way to go. -- WarBlade (talk) 00:13, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Like the weapon navboxes? The big ugly grey ones? --Talk to prinny! Prinny Riceygringo 00:31, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

I like the collapsible one as above. I've always liked the different background they have compared to the grey ones, gives it somewhat of a facelift than the plain-jane templates. Razldazlchick 00:37, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

I like that a lot better! I think it looks a lot sharper and more neat, not to mention it doesnt take up that much room.L y n n e talk 02:34, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

@Riceygringo: Yes, the grey ones, but they wouldn't be big in this case. A row or two for headings, and three rows for the trees which will extend down an extra row or two. Frankly, the bg image is not working well in the collapsible menu above. -- WarBlade (talk) 03:11, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

I like the table you made, looks a lot cleaner imo.   Uberorb Bio melt   04:12, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

There's a Big-Ass black space on the right of that template. Shouldn't we try to exploit that before throwing away the template? happypal (talk • contribs) 05:55, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

How's this? Note that this doesn't mean I don't want the drop down (I like it!), I'm just saying there's more than one way to improve what we already have.
PS: I tried removing the "non-breaking skill names", but then it just looks like a big fat block of text: not pretty. happypal (talk • contribs) 06:11, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

That Borderlands logo can go. It used to look okay on the main page before the menus expanded, but here it looks out of place. And changing the class to something using a different bg image (or no image) is preferable as well. -- WarBlade (talk) 06:23, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

True. I had actually tried it, but didn't want to clutter the forum page for such a small variant. Personally, I wouldn't mind if we went back to our standard boxes. I like'em. They aren't flashy, but they do the job. happypal (talk • contribs) 07:20, September 5, 2012 (UTC)
I made a normalized template, and am migrating our current boxes to it. The design is not final, but the point is that now it is templatized, so whatever we chose, it is centralized. happypal (talk • contribs) 12:11, September 6, 2012 (UTC)
