So today I decided to start over as a siren in borderlands while my friend started over as a hunter. I took my harddrive out of my xbox and moved it to his xbox to which after loading up the game and before starting it i see "Corrupt data. Well, you are probably in one of the DLC maps, and since your friend may not have that DLC data installed into his hard drive, your character cannot load since the map data the character resides in is 'corrupt' or non-existant. To simply solve this, put the hard drive back into your own xbox, load your character, fast travel to any one of the original maps that came with the game. I've had the same problem on another game and I think I know why. When anything is downloaded to any xbox, your xbox keeps a record of what has been downloaded. So when you try to move your hard drive with the DLC into another xbox, it won't read it because it was not downloaded to that particular xbox. The only solution I know of is to move your xbox and use a memory card to transfer your friends gamertag and saves. Hope this helps. HeyKnee 04:34, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
That i didn't know. HeyKnee answered it. Since I am in college at the moment and my roommate has the xbox and i had the hard drive and games. thanks i figured it goes right to the hard drive. damn IbanezRokr
I got a similar message and cannot figure out what is going on. I get an error message that says that I am being disconnected from XBL becasue of a corrupt file in my DLC. I get disconnected, but I can keep playing, and then reconnect at a later point. any ideas. Mattman 33
DLC has to be on the hard drive AND the xbox itself. its a fail safe to stop people from copying and moving DLC instead of buying them.
Yes, your DLC will only work with the xbox serial number it was first downloaded to. If you no longer have that xbox, performing a license transfer might enable to DLC to work on the new xbox. You are limited to 1 license transfer per year. -David
