Do not hold the pick up weapon button, just press it once. nagy talk

However, this can be useful for if you don't want to go into your inventory to equip the weapon you just picked up that you want to use right away, and can also be used to auto equip class mods and grenade mods, as well as pick up all ammo and money in range. This is also useful for those who have to reload every time they enter their inventory because they have a class mod that increases magazine size.

There is an unusual glitch though that can cause weapons to still be switched on pickup. It is commonly caused by mashing on the "use" button to retrieve items and weapons as pressing it too quickly can make the game engine interpret your commands as "grab and equip" rather than "gather". - Holding the use button will gather loot or reload your weapon in the absence of loot. It's not a glitch, it's keyboard/controller insensitivity. nagy talk

- If you hold the pickup key a bit too long it will pickup AND switch. On my kybd, it's a fine line between the two functions but certainly not a glitch. -- MeMadeIt 20:49, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
