The Emperor is a legendary submachine gun manufactured by Dahl. Emperor is obtained randomly from any loot source but has an increased chance to drop from Assassin Wot, Assassin Oney, Assassin Reeth, or Assassin Rouf in Southpaw Steam & Power and Digistruct Peak.

you know... for him. – Increased magazine size. Increased damage. Reduced fire rate. Delivers a burst of 6 bullets (7 if all parts are Dahl-manufactured) to the target at reliable recoil. Very fast accuracy recovery.

Usage & Description

While the Emperor has exceptional stats for the most part, its rate of fire is lower than most very rare SMGs, but this is more than offset by the ~50% damage boost per round. An elemental Emperor has more base damage per round than all but a few non-elemental SMGs, making it one of the best elemental SMGs.

Even proponents of Dahl weapons may feel that this weapon has very lackluster statistics, as its recoil reduction is the main advantage of its effectiveness, and most Dahl weapons are easy enough to use. Its low fire rate can even betray its other boosts to accuracy, as it requires more user input to stay on target for the entirety of the burst, especially on a moving target. This, however, is offset by the fact that only 66% of the rounds in the burst need to hit to do as much damage as another Dahl SMG.

With these facts stated, the Emperor should be used as a mid-to-long range weapon. Its ability to fire a large burst in a short period of time while maintaining decent accuracy makes it an ideal tool for getting many critical hits on an enemy from a moderate distance.

Trivia

The Emperor's stats were improved via a hotfix on October 15th, 2013 as part of the Borderlands 2 $100,000 Loot Hunt. The magazine size of all variants was increased by 8, while its listed damage was increased by 8%. This change has since been made permanent as of Patch 1.8.
The red text is a reference to the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. "For the Emperor!" is a war cry of the soldiers of the Imperium of Man, ruled by the God-Emperor of Mankind.
