Emperor is a legendary submachine gun in Borderlands 2 manufactured by Dahl. It is obtained randomly from any loot source but has an increased chance to drop from Assassin Wot, Assassin Oney, Assassin Reeth, or Assassin Rouf in Southpaw Steam & Power and Digistruct Peak.
Special Weapon Effects
you know... for him. – Fires a 6-round burst when zoomed in. Bullets penetrate enemies. Increased magazine size and damage. Reduced fire rate and accuracy.
Usage & Description
While the Emperor has exceptional stats, its rate of fire is lower than most purple-rarity SMGs, but this is offset by the ~50% damage boost per round. An elemental Emperor has more base damage per round than all but a few non-elemental SMGs, making it one of the best elemental submachine guns.
Even proponents of Dahl weapons may feel that this weapon has lackluster usage and most Dahl weapons are already easy enough to use. Its low fire rate can even betray its other boosts to accuracy, as it requires more aim correction to stay on target for the entirety of the burst, especially on a moving target. This is offset by only needing 66% of the rounds in the burst to hit to do as much damage as another Dahl SMG.
The Emperor should be used as a mid-to-long range weapon. Its ability to fire a large burst while maintaining decent accuracy makes it ideal for critical hits.
- If the Emperor spawns with a Dahl stock, it will fire a 7-round burst when zoomed in.
- As every assassin has an increased chance to drop Emperor, it is rare, though possible, for 4 copies of this weapon to be dropped in a single run.
- The Emperor's stats were improved via a hotfix on October 15th, 2013 as part of the Borderlands 2 $100,000 Loot Hunt. The magazine size of all variants was increased by 8, while its listed damage was increased by 8%. This change has since been made permanent as of Patch 1.8.
- The flavor text is a reference to the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. "For the Emperor!" is a war cry of the soldiers of the Imperium of Man, ruled by the God-Emperor of Mankind.
