Drifters are organisms native to Pandora that resemble a Spiderant with four long, spindly legs[1] and two frontal pedipalps [2] or mandibles that are encountered in the Parched Fathoms.
Notes
- The mandibles are perhaps used for slicing or stabbing.
- The pictured media release photo shows what looks like six legs but in the trailer video two Drifters are clearly seen that walk on only four legs.
- These creatures have six eyes located around the base of their body, shooting these will result in a critical hit and the eye exploding.
- They have a devastating corrosive ranged attack, they will also jump into the air and stomp on you to deal massive damage.
- Due to their corrosive attacks the best weapons to use against drifters are Hellfires
Trivia
- Critical hits can be achieved by firing at Drifters' torsos. Criticals are almost the only way to kill a Drifter on foot.
- These are quite like Half-Life 2's Antlions in habit because they are spidery dry sand dwellers, but in appearance are closer to Striders.
- Their faces also bears quite a resembelance to the Locust from Gears of War.
- Some Drifters appear as Skyscrapers these are higher and stronger than their smaller relatives.
- Skyscraper is a Drifter type boss and killing one is required for the quest Drifter Lifter.
